How do Immigrants get into Canada?
You know that Canada accepts immigrants from around the world, but how are immigrants chosen? Who is chosen and why?
First, you must understand that there are three types of immigrants that are allowed into Canada.
Types of Immigrants
The three types of immigrants that are allowed into Canada are;

Immigrating to Canada
Economic Immigrant An economic immigrant is
a skilled worker from another country who can do a job that few Canadians can. Their skill is in high demand.
Skilled workers include doctors, accountants, engineers, consultants, tradesmen.
Only economic immigrants must pass the points test system to be accepted into Canada.
Family Immigrant Immediate members of
the family of someone already living in Canada are allowed in as a family immigrant.
You do not need to pass a test but a family member must sponsor you.
Sponsorship means they must pay for all your expenses (food, rent, clothes).
Refugee The last type of
immigrant allowed in Canada is a refugee.
Refugees are fleeing their home country for various reasons (think of push factors) and believe they will be killed or tortured if they stay.
Refugees are allowed into Canada on humanitarian grounds and cannot be turned away once they are here.
Immigration TestThe immigration test awards points based on the following
categories;
1. Education2. English and French language ability3. Work experience4. Age5. Arranged employment6. Adaptability
If a hopeful immigrant scores 67 points or higher, then they will be allowed into Canada.
