Our Question for Analysis:
WHAT ARE STATES DOING ABOUT IMMIGRATION?
FEDERAL V. STATE LAW Currently, federal and state laws are in
conflict when it comes to immigration. Should states be able to create laws
about immigration, even though this power is expressly given to the federal government?
We will take this case to the Supreme Court.
QUESTIONS FOR DEBATE What should the US policy be for
admitting immigrants? Legalize illegal immigrants? Amnesty for illegal immigrants? Deportation for illegal immigrants? Build a fence along the Mexican border? Enforce the current laws?
YOUR TASK How many in each group will be
admitted? What will be the process for
admittance? Your policy will be evaluated by a panel
of “experts” in the field.
