In recent years, immune therapy has become the focus of modern cancer care. The rapidly evolving field of immu-no-oncology has transformed the approach to treatment, and new research is uncovering additional opportunities to apply our understanding of the immune system to a growing number of tumor types.

With new agents using novel mechanisms of action emer-ging on a regular basis, it is crucial that oncologists keep up-to-date with the latest science in immuno-oncology, the most recent clinical results, and the recommendations for the use of these agents in clinical practice.

Dr. Drilon is a medical oncologist specializing in the treatment of lung cancer, early-stage clinical trials, and new treatment approaches that target molecular changes in tumors. He is ffiliated with the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Weill Cornell Medical College, and is a member of the ASCO University Editorial Board.

Program director:Alexander E. Drilon, MD

Immune-based therapies have advanced beyond melano-ma to target non-small-cell cancer, renal cell carcinoma, non-small cell lung cancer and other tumor types, and opening the door to cancer vaccines.

The ASCO Immuno-Oncology Seminars are desig-ned to help oncologists stay on top of this rapidly developing field.

Immuno-Oncology. Fundamentals and New Directions in ManagmentDesigned by ASCO and directed by Alexander E. Drilon, MD, ASCO Immuno-Oncology is a 4.5-hour seminar that will help oncolo-gists stay on top of this rapidly developing field. It will consist of a fundamentals section, in which a wide variety of topics will be addressed, including cancer immunobiology, classes of agents, poten-tial predictive biomarkers, clinical activity in the areas of melanoma and non-small cell lung cancer, response determination and the management of immune-related adverse events, and an advanced seminar, which will feature in-depth discussions of difficult clinical cases.

Learning Objectives1. To describe the components of the normal human immune system and their role in surveillance and anti-tumor activity

2. To identify the mechanisms by which cancer vaccines may induce specific immunity to cancer

3. To examine other potential biomarkers of benefit to immune checkpoint blockade

4. To identify the immune modulating agents that have been used in the clinic

5. To apply RECIST- and irRC-based and response assessments to patients receiving cancer immunotherapy in the clinic, and

6. To describe management strategies for the toxicities associated with immunotherapies

Designed and developed by Medical Trends, with the permission and under the supervision of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

After completing the seminar, you will also receive

a concise monograph which

will help you retain and expand

on the key fundamentals

of Immuno-Oncology.
