In September, Dr. F. Marc LaForce ’60, HD ’15, director of technical services at the Serum Institute of India, addressed the Saint Anselm community at the 2015 Academic Convocation, celebrating the start of the academic year.

Saint Anselm: Most Popular N.H. Stop for Presidential Candidates

Saint Anselm College has been buzzing with political activity and is sure to see much more in the coming year, which is why it is no surprise that U.S. News & World Report

ranked the college as the most popular New Hampshire venue for presidential candidates.

The Politics & Eggs series, conducted by the New Hampshire Institute of Politics in partnership with The New England Council, has been in full swing.

In the past 20 months, 14 presidential candidates have participated in Politics & Eggs, beginning with Donald Trump. Speakers in 2015 included Senator Rand Paul, Dr. Ben Carson, Governor Bobby Jindal, Governor Chris Christie, former Governor Martin O’Malley, Senator Marco Rubio and Carly Fiorina.

Students and Alumni Excavate Archaelogical Site in Italy

During the summer, Saint Anselm College students and alumni continued the excavation of a 6th century BCE pyramidal structure beneath the city of Orvieto, Italy. Their efforts are part of the annual dig organized and overseen by the Classics Department.

Led by Professor David George, Ph.D., Classics Department chair, 15 students and eight alumni worked diligently to further the excavation progress of three sites: Coriglia, Cavità, and the Necropolis at Crocifisso Del Tufo.

To date, the team has recovered over 150 Etruscan language inscriptions, as well as an array of architectural and decorative terra cotta.

Students Walk 130 Miles for Charity

Through rain and heat, 32 Saint Anselm students made the annual trek from Lewiston, Maine, to Manchester, New Hampshire. The students walked 130 miles in eight days. This year they raised more than $15,000 for nine charities in Maine and New Hampshire.

“I walk because it allows me to connect with charities through advocacy as well as direct service,” said student-leader Mary Pat Devine ’15, a fine arts major.

This is the 17th year that Saint Anselm students, through the Office of Campus Ministry, have made this modern-day pilgrimage, which is known as the Road for Hope, persevering through all the challenges along the way.
