    CHALLENGES

}MphasiS required a superior telecomsolution that would provide end-to-endconnectivity between all its call centers

    } solution that is

    Scalable

    has 99.99% availability

    QoS and BoD features

it had to be service level agreement (SLA)

    driven

  • 8/7/2019 Implementation of IT @ MphasiS

    28/35

} This required architecture of the networkalso resulted in a host of challenges, suchas need for end-to-end connectivity, high

complexity and network costs due tobuilding this type of connectivity on E1leased line, lack of network management,

    etc

  • 8/7/2019 Implementation of IT @ MphasiS

    29/35

    PROBLEMS WITH THE INITIALSETUP

} The present implementation had limitedredundancy, was not scalable, had noSLAs and limited usability to P2P links

    between sites.

}Also, multiple vendors and links hadincreased management hassles, it had

limited capability for BCP/DR and highTCO

  • 8/7/2019 Implementation of IT @ MphasiS

    30/35

SOLUTION} Needed network that is capable of growing in

    direct proportion to its growth

} Airtel offered state-of-the-art multi protocollabel switching (MPLS) network whichenabled them to attain

a highly available network by providing dualpoints of presence (PoPs) in various cities as wellas dual last mile on fiber optic ring architecture

differentiated QoS for voice and data traffic

bandwidth on demand (BoD) feature toincrease bandwidth immediately.

  • 8/7/2019 Implementation of IT @ MphasiS

    31/35

    SOLUTION

}MpahsiS' access network connected itscenters in different cities where each sitewas connected to MPLS (PoP-1) on Bharti

last mile and to MPLS (PoP-2) on analternate service provider last mile

} Both were provisioned in primary and

back- up mode, so that if one goes down, the other would become activeautomatically.

  • 8/7/2019 Implementation of IT @ MphasiS

    32/35

    SOLUTION

} Each location was connected on fiber inself-healing ring architecture to ensurehigh uptime

} The same line of thought ran along itscore network where dual redundant PoPsensured each node is interconnected

with more than two backbone nodes, sothat at any given time there is no singlepoint of failure

  • 8/7/2019 Implementation of IT @ MphasiS

    33/35

    SOLUTION

}Class of service ensured impeccableprovisioning for voice and data traffic

while the BoD feature provided theflexibility to cope with on-demandbandwidth requirement

} This solution was purely SLA driven andSLAs of the agreement revolved around

three main factors: availability 99.9+%,round trip delays between various sites, and packet delivery.

  • 8/7/2019 Implementation of IT @ MphasiS

    34/35

    STRENGTHS

} MPLS provides flexibility to meet our BCP /DR plans for our customers

}we can route traffic between any of theMPLS sites

} This quality gives an edge to Mphasis overour competitors
