Results
As a group at the end of the intervention, the
children:
produced sentences with an average length of three
words
had limited improvement in oral narratives (a source ofsignificant concern)

There was a general increase in performance over time.
Both interventions supported children's performance on
tasks that drew on language skills.
There were no changes in the control nursery in terms oforal language produced.
Talking Time had highly significant positive changes inthe nursery that had implemented it.

Goals of Talking Time
Talking Time is an interactive oral language
intervention package designed to supportlanguage
and to foster communicative exchanges with young
children. Three key linguistic skills are targeted:
vocabulary development,
the ability to make inferences, and the ability to recount a narrative.
