And its notour choice that someday were going to die. However, theperiod in between, the one we call life, presents us withcountless choices. There are some obvious ones due to thenature of our society. We can choose our friends, careers,life styles, political affiliations, churches, where to live, whatcar to drive and what kind of music to listen to. But thereare some other choices which, while less obvious, are farmore important. Were either unware of them or just dontgive them much thought. Yet, theyre the choices thatdetermine the quality of our lives. Based on what life hastaught me, these are what I can consider to be our mostimportant choices. 4. It wasnt our choice to be born into the world. Andits not our choice that someday were going to die. 5. Choosing friends 6. Career 7. Life styles 8. THE IMPORTANT CHOICESWE GET TO MAKE WERE FREE TO CHOOSE OUR CHARACTER, THE TYPE OF PERSONS WE BECOME. WERE FREE TO CHOOSE OUR VALUES. WERE FREE TO CHOOSE HOW TO TREAT OTHER PEOPLE. WERE FREE TO CHOOSE HOW TO HANDLE ADVERSITY. WERE FREE TO CHOOSE HOW MUCH WELL LEARN. WERE FREE TO CHOOSE WHAT WELL ACCOMPLISH IN LIFE. WERE FREE TO CHOOSE OUR OWN BELIEF SYSTEM. WERE FREE TO CHOOSE OUR OWN PURPOSE. WERE FREE TO CHOOSE OUR ATTITUDE REGARDLESS OF CIRCUMSTANCES. 9. WERE FREE TO CHOOSE OUR CHARACTER,THE TYPE OF PERSONS WE BECOME.We can allow ourselves to bemolded by others and ourenvironment, or we cancommit ourselves to self-development.We canbecome less than werecapable of, we can become allthat were capable of. 10. WERE FREE TO CHOOSE OUR VALUES.We can let the media tell uswhats important, or wecan decide for ourselves.We can base our standardson what others are doing,or we can base them onwhat we know is right andgood. 11. WERE FREE TO CHOOSE HOW TO TREATOTHER PEOPLE.We can put them down or we can lift them up. Wecan be self-centered and inconsiderate, or we canbe respectful, kind and helpful. 12. WERE FREE TO CHOOSE HOW TOHANDLE ADVERSITY.We can allow ourselves tobe crushed, to give up andto feel sorry for ourselves.Or we can choose to look fora source of strength withinus, to preserve and to makethe most out of what lifegives us. 13. WERE FREE TO CHOOSE HOW MUCHWELL LEARN.We can look upon learningas an unpleasant duty oras a great opportunity forimproving ourselves. Wecan be closed-minded oropen-minded, we can bestagnant or we can grow. 14. WERE FREE TO CHOOSE WHATWELL ACCOMPLISH IN LIFE.We can allow our circumstances or other peopleto determine what we make of ourselves, or wecan choose our own direction and goals. We canbe undisciplined and lazy, or we can be self-disciplinedand hard working. 15. WERE FREE TO CHOOSE OUR OWNBELIEF SYSTEM.We can ignore ourspiritual nature, or weaccept it as an importantdimension of life. We canworship pleasure and theworlds material things, orwe can look for somethingthats ultimately moreimportant. 16. WERE FREE TO CHOOSE OUR OWNPURPOSE.We can wander aimlessly,or we can search for ameaning in life, and thenlive according to it. Wecan live only to pleaseourselves or we can find acause that is greater. 17. WERE FREE TO CHOOSE OUR ATTITUDEREGARDLESS OF CIRCUMSTANCES.This is an important choice we have to makebecause it affects everything we do in life.
