Principal’s Report Dear Parents and Caregivers, Staff I would like to open this newsletter by acknowledging the wonderful group of people who work here. From teachers, office staff, SLSO’s (School Learning Support Officer’s) to cleaning staff. On a daily basis, I see all staff engaging, teaching and helping all of our students. It’s a wonderful school community.
This week, staff were engaged in professional learning in matching NAPLAN questions with the Lit-eracy Continuum. This planning is in preparation for next year and as part of the Bump It Up strategy we are involved in. This was discussed in previous newsletters. Professional learning contributes to improving students Literacy and Numeracy outcomes. POP (Parent Online Payments) The new system of payments to the school was introduced last term. We have a steady flow of the community using this system. If you would like to know how to use this system, instructions can be found on page 6 in this newsletter. An instruction leaflet can also be picked up from the front office. It is a fantastic way to make payments and is used by many schools. Planning for 2017 We are in the preliminary stages of planning student classes and staffing for 2017. If you will not be returning to Wallerawang Public School next year, could you please contact the school by phone - 6355 1210 by email - [email protected] or just a quick note to your child’s teacher. Accurate numbers for 2017 help us to plan future classes and resources. P&C Fete 2016 This Friday, 28th October, our annual school Fete will commence at 10am (Students to arrive at school as normal to begin their day at 9:10am). On the day students can wear Mufti, please no thongs or singlets. I look forward to sharing a very enjoyable day with the school community. Let’s hope the weather is kind to us! School Poetry and Short Story Competition - Write 4 Fun Last week we recognised and congratulated Alexandra Fitzgerald for her success with her short sto-ry. I am pleased to also acknowledge and congratulate Katelyn Micallef, Toby Zorz and Andrea Fitz-gerald who have also made it through the first set of judging and will have their stories published.
The Short Story Competition is from the program ‘Write 4 Fun.net’. The theme was ‘The Spooky Halloween Graveyard’. The publication is called ‘Word Zone’ and will be printed in March 2017. It gives me great pleasure to share this news and we look forward to reading their stories when pub-lished. Yours in education Janine Macky Principal
