California law requires certain commercial businesses and multifamily properties to have recycling collection services. We’ve made it easy to see if your property is required to provide these collection services.

RECYCLING (AB341)Businesses that generate at least four (4) cubic yards of solid waste per week and multi-family properties with five units or more are required to recycle. To meet this requirement, you can sign up for recycling collection services through Waste Management.

ORGANICS RECYCLING (AB 1826)Businesses that generate a combined (4) cubic yards or more of trash, recycling and organics weekly, must recycle the organic portion of this waste. Organic waste includes food scraps, yard trimming and wood waste. Call Waste Management to add an organic recycling service to meet this requirement.

Multifamily properties with (5) or more units that generate (4) cubic yards of trash weekly must have a yard waste recycling program. Call Waste Management to set up a service meeting this requirement.

Materials must be properly sorted and fit inside carts and bins with enough room to allow the lid to close. Containers with excess materials and contamination will result in additional fees for the account holder. Excess and incorrect materials in containers present environmental, service and safety hazzards.
