Certain fatty acids, such as the omega-3 fatty acid, alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), are not naturally produced by livestock. However, breeding livestock need fatty acids for maintenance and growth, especially for reproductive performance. Omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to significantly improve key reproductive biological processes in animals that result in improved breeding performances including increased egg and embryo viability in females, and improved male fertility.

In addition to the nutrient dense tubs producers expect from SmartLic®, FlaxLic® contains high levels of omega-3 fatty acids from flaxseed and flaxseed oil to support the key biological functions needed for profitable breeding animals. FlaxLic® Sheep

Feeding DirectionsCattle/horses: Provide free-choice as a supplement to cattle at a rate of one block for each 15 to 25 head, and to equines at the rate of one block for each 1 to 10 head. Place blocks in pen or pasture near areas frequented by cattle, such as watering locations, shade or loafingareas. Cattle normally consume approximately 3/4 pound per head daily. Consumption may vary depending on climate, grazing conditions, condition of livestock and/or availability of other feeds. In situations where climate and/or other factors result in consumption of less than 3/4 pound per head daily, intake of supplement can be increased slightly by providing additional blocks in each pen or pasture.

Sheep: Provide free-choice as a supplement to sheep at a rate of one block for each 25 to 35 head. Place blocks in each pasture near areas frequented by livestock, such as watering locations, shade or loafing areas. Sheep will typically consume 2 to 3.5 ounces per head per day. Consumption may vary depending on climate, grazing conditions, condition of livestock and/or availability of other feeds. In situations where climate and/or other factors result in less than the daily expected consumption, intake of supplement can be increased by increasing the number of blocks per pasture.
