Student Life @ IMT Hyderabad

IMT Hyderabad repeatedly reinforces its unwritten rule, “IMT Hyderabad hardly sleeps”» 12 student clubs and 4 committees keep the students engaged in

activities beyond the classroom all round the year

» IMPELZ (management fest), Ace – Connect (inter corporate meet), PERIODOS (sports fest), are the marquee events conducted on campus

» Students are encouraged to participate in management fests organized by B-Schools in India & Abroad.

Rigorous studies, assignments, projects generally define academic life. But here at IMT, Hyderabad residential campus ensures the rigour of academics is balanced with activities outside classroom that no doubt adds up to a holistic development. The 12 clubs ensure exactly that. These are completely student driven where we get to plan, strategize, and execute activities from start to finish. They offer a great learning experience.

Urvashi Rai Kumar, PGDM, 2017-19

IMT Hyderabad is abuzz with activities throughout the year. Events big and small contribute to what can be called learning outside the class. Impelz, Ace Connect, Periodos, TEDxImthyderabad are some noteworthy events that definitely puts to test what we learn in the classroom.

» Practitioner SessionsSenior corporate functionaries are invited to teach (15-20%) of every course on campus

» Leadership Series CEOs/CXOs are invited to share their business building experiences with the students

» Round Table Discussions Each functional area hosts a round table discussion on topical themes in their respective areas

» Internship ProgramStudents pursue 14 – 16 weeks faculty supervised internship program

For me, I think one aspect that stands out is the extensive Internship Program. 14-16 week long Internship provide much needed corporate and workplace exposure that go a long way in shaping our preparedness for the corporate life in later years. Besides, a rigorous pre-placement training and domain interviews by faculty and industry experts fine tunes us to face the recruitment and land the job of our choice.

Any business education is incomplete without insights to current business situation. But we don’t feel the gap as practitioners and business leaders interact with us quite regularly. Various eminent leaders from well-known corporates conduct sessions as part of curriculum. We also have Leadership Series where the likes of VPs and CEOs interact with us.

International relations is a group level activity, driven and coordinated for all IMT campuses by IMT Ghaziabad. IMT has over 40 MOUs with foreign universities for faculty and student exchange programs.

Student Exchange Program - Outbound

Professor (Dr.) Debadutta Panda was invited to participate in “Qualitative Research Methods” workshop at University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada.

Professor (Dr.) Nitin Gupta with other international professors was invited for ICN Business School’s International Week at ICN Nancy campus, France to teach various topics in the area of “International Marketing and Consumer Behavior”.

Professor (Dr.) Steven Raj was invited to teach the course on “Culture, Economy and Business Development in India" to the students of the International MBA Program at the Department of Business Administration, University of Haifa, Israel.

Student Exchange Program – Inbound

The first thing that struck me when I arrived at IMT Hyderabad was the warm welcome by the students. Thanks to the events at the campus we can really immerse ourselves in Indian culture. The courses of Marketing and HR are enriching and interesting.Coline Abdoul Carime, Rouen campus, NEOMA Business School

Sports and other cultural activities keep us engaged beyond classrooms. Also rigorous and interactive teaching learning process is much appreciated. Courses are very well structured and professors are approachable and clarify all doubts. Professors use innovative pedagogical techniques in the class.Constantin Mestheneas, Reims campus, NEOMA Business School, France

First of all, I really enjoyed the welcome of the IMT students. I also enjoy all the events organized on the campus. There is always something to do. Another positive aspect on the campus is the sport facilities: basketball, football, fitness room. Our rooms are also great and we can put decorations to be like home. The courses I have chosen are quite interesting. The teachers take good care of us. The Learning Resource center is very well equipped with access to international magazines, journals, databases and Bloomberg terminal.Claire De Gantes, Rouen campus, NEOMA Business School

The program was a wonderful experience. Extensive learning through unique pedagogy was the hallmark of the program. Besides, group projects enabled me to interact not only with the students but also entirely different cultures.Shardul Jindal, PGDM (Finance), Rennes School of Business, France

Our professors at the SGH Warsaw School of Economics were eminent people - advisors to the Polish Ministry of Finance, and distinguished Fulbright scholars. Apart from the curricular classes, the university offers additional lectures or projects throughout the term helping in broadening one’s horizons for global insights and creating scope of meeting global practitioners from the business world.Anand Subramanian, PGDM, SGH Warsaw School of Economics, Poland

The exchange experience helped me to understand my true potential. Audencia is a Triple Crown accredited business school and among the top 5 B schools in France. For a marketing aspirant, this program was very useful as there were specialized trainings and live projects with Procter and Gamble, Barilla Harry’s and an opportunity to work on advertising briefs for the Match group.Archita Prahladka, Audencia Business School, France
