so we have 16 different educational systems.

After this, elementary school begins …
… and lasts for four years
After that, your teachers decide together with your parents, where
you go:
• to a grammar school• a secondary modern school
• a comprehensive school It is compulsory in Germany to attend school for nine
years.
G 8 There are grammar schools
offering G8. This means, after elementary school it takes another 8 years to achieve the so-called
(A’levels) the highest school level in Germany
G 9
• Some grammar schools and all the comprehensive schools are offering G9
• In G9, it takes nine years after elementary school to achieve the Abitur
• life as a student in G9 is a bit more relaxed, because you just have more time to learn
