We welcome our Spring term team! Dear Emmanuel readers,

We would like to thank everyone who applied for a role in the new Emmanuel

Express team and say a big well done to the successful applicants. It was very

difficult to choose between the children who applied to join our team!

If you have any new ideas on a new article that you would like to feature in the

newspaper, please come to talk to us or you could put it in our ideas box in the

library.

ALL ABOUT MY FAVOURITE ROBLOX GAME BY

AIDAN, 5W

Bee swarm simulator is a game in ROBLOX. I

really enjoy playing it!

You collect pollen to make honey at your hive.

Get the Sythe! It is amazing.

Onett, the creator of BEE SWARM, is RIGHT NOW making a new level,

Level 40. My friend told me the new level could be a field with a fox in, or

a toad, or even flies!

Tommaso’s (2T) article about Agar.io The objective of Agar.io is to grow a cell in a petri dish by swallowing

randomly generating pellets. Agar.io is a good game because you have

skins and it is a massive multiplayer online action game, created by

Matheus Valadares. Players control one or more cells in a map

representing a petri

dish. The goal is to

gain as much mass

possible by eating agar

and cells smaller than

you.

Alexander’s article about Terraria, from 3w I want to tell you about my favourite game Terraria. I play it on my iPad. I like it

because it is filled with adventure.

This is the first step: building houses out of dirt, wood and stone.

The second step is getting weapons. The light disc is the second most powerful weapon in Terraria.

Mummy, Fairy and Me! Who wrote this book? Sophie Kinsella.

What is this book about? This book is about somebody’s

Mummy who can turn into a fairy.

What happens? The Mummy makes a spell wrong.

Who are the characters in this book? There is a mummy, Ella,

brother, daddy and a robber.

The ABC’S are reminding you that the deadline for posters is 28th February. These posters need to include a new logo for our team and a reminder that we are

an Anti-Bullying School. There will be prizes for our winners too. One prize for ks1 and for ks2. We hope many of you will join in this fun request and help our team

Spider-Man into the

Spider Verse review by Rayaan 6D.

This is the latest movie of Spider-Man. It is

called “Spider-Man into the Spider Verse” (it

is rated 8.7 stars and 97% by viewers, which I

think is incredible). The characters are Miles

in the black suit, Spider Gwen in the black

and white suit, Spider-Man, Spider-Man Noir,

Spider Ham and lastly Peni Parker.

In the movie, there are some villains called King Pin, a robust person who wants the

Spider Men and women dead.

Also, there is doctor who has an evil octopus. His father

is a police officer and his mother is a doctor. Miles’s

powers are that he can become invisible and he has

some awesome reflexes. I hope you enjoy this movie

too!

US - GOVERNMENT SHUT DOWN

Trump recently shut down the

Federal Government and now

more than 800,000 people

have been working without pay.

The treasury and the army are

still functioning but a

substantial amount of the

Government ceases to

function. Trump shut it down

because he did not get funding for his wall. At the time of writing, this was the case and there

is now an update below.

UK - Brexit; the turmoil continues…

Brexit has divided the country in two leaving us with two options: the House of Commons

agrees on a deal or we have a second referendum. Now the options (choices) could be (for the

referendum) either stay, no deal or Theresa May’s deal. We shall have to wait and see what

the UK Government does and what the EU agrees to.

RUSSIA

Putin recently unveiled plans for a new supersonic passenger jet, the new version of the

Tupolev Tu-144. Putin has said that it will be operational by 2022. It is based on the Tu-160

strategic bomber.

UPDATE ON SHUTDOWN

Trump has now given in to the head of the House of Representatives and has been forced to

end the shutdown. However, people expect him to restart the shutdown.

CURRENT GLOBAL HEADLINE

A man named Juan Guaido has challenged Venezuela’s current president, Nicholas Maduro. He

has the support of the people so the question is: will he overthrow Mr Maduro?

BUSINESS QUESTION

Carlos Ghosn, the former Nissan and Renault (car companies) alliance head, was arrested at

Haneda airport on the 19th of November 2018 by the Japanese authorities on charges of

being engaged in financial misconduct for many years. My question for you readers is: will the

Nissan-Renault alliance hold until the end of 2019? We would love to hear your views. Get your

answers in after half term.

How to make salt crystals

With these four simple steps, you

can make some salt crystals.

To make your own salt crystals you

will need:

Table salt

Distilled water

A clean clear glass container- a jam jar is perfect

String

A spoon for stirring

What to do:

1. Stir salt into boiling hot water until no more

salt will dissolve (crystals will start to appear at

the bottom of the container).

2. Carefully, pour the solution into the

jar(putting a spoon into the jar before adding the

water should prevent the jar from breaking).

3. Suspend your string into the jar from the

spoon laid across the top of the jar.

4. Leave your jar somewhere it will not be

disturbed and wait for your crystals to grow!

Did you know that cows have best friends, and become stressed when separated?

Sheep are known to self-medicate when they have some illnesses. They will eat specific plants that can cure them.

A male penguin offers a pebble to a female penguin. If she takes it, they become partners.

Did you know, that many tree frogs freeze in the winter and "spring" back to life in the warmer months?

The animal kingdom is home to some amazing creatures with some amazing gifts!

Cheetahs can run at 70 mph. Camels can survive half a year without a water source. Pandas do not have particular sleeping spots; they just fall asleep wherever they are!

I want to tell you how amazing pigs are. They are my favourite

animal!

Did you know….that 2019 is the year of the pig in the Chinese

New Year calendar? It started on 5th February.

When we talked about it as a team, lots of us love Percy Pigs

at M&S and they are even advertising them for Chinese New

Year!

Did you know…? The island of Big Major Cay in The Bahamas has some

swimming pigs who have been living on the island for a number of years; it has been

called Pig Beach or Pig Island.

Did you know…Think that pigs are slow? They are not at all! Adult pigs can run

at speeds of up to 11mph, or in other words, they can run a mile in seven minutes,

could you do any better?

about decorating pancakes on

Pancake Day! Do you know

how to make pancakes? Do

you prefer having American

pancakes or a crepe?

Pancake Day on the 5th of March, which gives you a lot of time to

decide what you will put on your pancake. Here are

some recipes for you to try at home!

100g plain flour

2 large eggs

300ml milk

1 tbsp sunflower or vegetable oil, plus a little extra for frying

lemon wedges, to serve (optional)

caster sugar, to serve (optional)
