Disabled Car parking

FPS is fortunate to have designated disabled car parking for families who require them and we do have a number of families who require these spaces. If you do not have a permit for such a space, then DO NOT park in it! Thank you for your cooperation and respecting the needs of some of our families.

Semester One School Reports and Student-Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parents/carers will receive a report for their child outlining progress in Semester One in the final week of term two. This semester however, the report will be different as it has not been possible to implement our standard assessment and report writing process due to Remote Learning as a result of COVID-19 restrictions.

FPS has received advice from the Department of Education and Training regarding modifications to the Semester One reporting that takes into account the limitations on the ability of teachers to accurately assess student progress during the Remote Learning Program.

As a result of this advice, teachers at our school;

will not provide a progression point for Semester One, will be available for parents/carers and students to discuss the school report in week 11.

The 2020 Semester One report on student achievement will provide;

a description of the areas of the Victorian Curriculum F-10 taught (FPS Essential Learnings), an assessment based on the Achievement Standards in the Victorian Curriculum F-10, a comment based on your child’s learning achievement and how your child has adjusted to the remote and

flexible learning environment, with reference to the Personal and Social Capability curriculum.

Our FPS teachers and students look forward to discussing their learning and achievements with families during the Student-Parent-Teacher Conferences in week 11 on Tuesday 23rd, Wednesday 24th or Thursday 25th of June. The conference will focus on discussions with you and your child about; their strengths with the FPS Remote Learning Program a reflection of students as learners student sharing a piece of work that they are proud of a discussion of future learning foci

Parents/carers will be able to book a conference time via Compass. Information on how to do this will be sent home to families soon.

2021 Foundation enrolments now open The inability to do a school tour has not deterred future families from wanting to enrol their child at FPS. A virtual school tour has been created https://www.flemingtonps.vic.edu.au/ and information sessions are being held via Webex every Wednesday morning. This is what one new family had to say about our school...My son and I have watched a virtual tour delivered by the FPS team recently and we are so excited to see that the school offers an interesting curriculum with a lot of exciting activities for students, especially for Foundation class. I think FPS is a wonderful environment for my son to learn and develop comprehensively. I am impressed by the way that the school encourages multiculturalism and diversity in all classes. We think that this is a great opportunity to be a part of this community. Finally, FPS is strongly recommended by my friends who also have students studying here. Any current parents who have a sibling starting in Foundation 2021 but have not enrolled their child yet, please do so as soon as possible!

Bikes and scooters The new accessibility ramps in the Year 2 area have made it impossible for students to use this area for parking. Please use the bike shed in the Amphi whilst Buildings and Grounds sub-committee work out another area. Parents who want to assist their child and are arriving from the oval side of the school, please walk the bike/scooter along the path at the back of the music wing, then in front of the science room. This is safer than riding along Padman lane. We always recommend a bike and scooter lock and thank you for your patience and understanding!

Accessibility ramping Stage three of construction is now in the final stages with hand rails being added. Not long now.

Queen’s Birthday Holiday-Monday 8th June Just a reminder that next Monday is a public holiday. I hope that families enjoy spending some more time together.

Happy Learning!
