In recent years, safety requirements in pro-cess plants have become increasingly de-manding. Even in case of emergency, the system must be safe for persons and the environment. Actuators play a crucial role here, since it is their task to open or close a valve in case of emergency and to ensure that the plant remains in safe condition.
With the FQM fail safe unit, AUMA offers innovative and safe actuator solutions for automatic operation of valves in case of emergencies making use of stored mecha-nical energy. The FQM fail safe unit meets the requirements of safety-related applica-tions up to SIL 2/SIL 3 and is virtually main-tenance-free.

The completely redesigned successor of the SIMA Master Station is at the forefront: SIMA2 excels by high integration facility, fast cycle ti-mes and premium reliability. SIMA2 proves its competence with the intuitive user interface, comprehensive diagnostic functions and the compact design.
SIMA2 is AUMA’s decentralised automation so-lution for controlling and monitoring actuators within networks. SIMA2 relieves the host DCS by adopting configuration and control of actuators and processing the multitude of actuator fee-dback signals. SIMA2 will be a particular asset for vast sites with a high number of actuators, for example, in tank farms or refineries.
PLUG & PLAYA prime advantage of SIMA2 is the considerably simplified commissioning process for actuators – independent of the DCS by largely automated procedures. Furthermore SIMA2 allows for sim-ple and central access to all status data of any linked actuators and respective communication interfaces.
