The Café Pinson for pleasure and healthy eatingA little address that is attracting a lot of attention in these snowy days of winter. The Café Pinson has opened
in the Haut Marais and is hugely popular. It is all about simplicity and flavour, organic and healthy ingredients
that look and taste good. The main idea was to provide quality and healthy food that would appeal to everyone.
Quiches with seasonal vegetables, salads, risottos, madeleines and cakes and pastries: the menu is vegan and
gluten-free and features vegetables in all their rich splendour. The Café Pinson has a coffee shop atmosphere
with its simple decor of second-hand furniture and its large family-style counter and kitchen opening onto the

after they have first come out usually at half price. A few steps from the parent company shop in rue de Moussy
in the Marais, La Petite boutique Azzedine Alaïa welcomes clients in its friendly little shop. The stock is renewed
regularly and includes clothing, shoes and accessories by the famous Tunisian designer. Another renowned inter-
national label is Sonia Rykiel, which has long been popular with fans at its large outlet boutique in the 14th
arrondissement. The previous year’s collections can be found at knock-down prices: knitwear, black, etc. Created
in 1956 for Brigitte Bardot by Rose Repetto, the ultra famous ballerina pumps are still as popular and disappear
quickly on arrival in the shop Côté danse de Repetto. Alongside these are moccasins, boots, trainers and other

Half an hour away from Paris by RER train, and near to Disneyland® Paris, La Vallée Village has 100 luxury bou-

A day out around the Eiffel Tower. Why not take advantage of a visit to Paris’s most iconic monument to discover the numerous other places and museums that make this district of Paris so appea-ling? Museums //In the district opposite the Eiffel Tower, towards the Trocadéro gardens, or along the Seine, are some of
the finest museums in Paris. From the Musée de la Marine to the Musée du Quai Branly, Everyone will find
somewhere they would like to visit. Here’s an overview of the main sights to visit as a couple or with the family.
Origins of art at the musée du Quai BranlyImmediately visible from the first floor of the Eiffel Tower, the Musée du Quai Branly is situated above the Seine
riverbanks, between the Alma and Iéna bridges. Surrounded by wonderful planting, this museum, also called
the Musée des Arts Premiers, houses unique collections representative of the arts and civilizations of Africa,
Asia, Oceania and the Americas. With a nod to the Eiffel Tower, the museum, by architect Jean Nouvel, has been
designed like a metallic bridge over a garden with a surface area of 18,000 m2, designed by landscape artist
Gilles Clément. The building, which presents 3,500 objects out of a total collection of 300,000, puts on many
themed exhibitions in addition to the permanent exhibition, as well as numerous cultural events. Applications
available on smartphones and tablets enhance a visit with complementary videos and even suggested itinera-
ries. Finally, the museum has areas for refreshments and relaxation, like the Café Branly, or the restaurant Les
Ombres, on the roof of the museum.

Discover asia at the musée GuimetAfter leaving the Eiffel Tower, all you have to do is go up avenue d’Iéna alongside Trocadéro. Gardens. Originally
put together by the great industrialist and traveller Émile Guimet, the museum that bears his name displays ma-
jor national collections of Asian art and culture – the largest on show outside Asia. The objects and works here
are archaeological objects or pieces of ancient art. There is also a magnificent collection of textiles (the Riboud
collection), which forms one of the finest ensembles of ancient Japanese clothes and Indian textile art from the
17th and 18th centuries. Finally, do not miss a visit to the Buddhist Pantheon galleries, which house sculpted
Japanese pieces that make up a huge stylistic and historic ensemble of exceptional quality. The museum offers
a comprehensive and varied programme of temporary and themed exhibitions on Asian art and cultures (the art
of tea, Japanese and Indian engravings, etc).

national naval adventures at the musée de la MarineFans of the open seas and naval adventures will no doubt find this a place to dream of far-off horizons and
conquests. Situated in a wing of the Palais de Chaillot, the Musée national de la Marine exhibits models pro-
duced for Louis XV. These unique pieces reflect what was a spectacular transformation of the national war
fleet at the beginning of the 18th Century. The five rows of vessels presented were at that time one of the
most powerful naval fleets in the world along with the British Royal Navy. However, the museum does not only
explore the past. It offers a broad historic perspective, from the time of the creation of huge sailing ships (of
which certain choice pieces, like the prows, are superbly exhibited) right up to the creation of the modern
navy, with its aircraft carriers and nuclear submarines. Several galleries are also devoted to the height of Naval
Aviation and the role of this type of aviation during the major conflicts of the 20th century. Several multimedia
documents retrace in detail this exciting human and technological adventure. A unique place to visit for children
and adults.

Precious heritage at the Cité de l’architectureExtending over 22,000 m2 in the ‘Paris’ wing of the Palais de Chaillot, the Cité de l’architecture & du patrimoine
is one of the largest centres for architecture in the world. Initially designed to promote French architecture in
France and in the world, it is especially an original and unique way for visitors to appreciate key architectural
works of French heritage and discover contemporary design. Through its three departments (architecture, trai-
ning and heritage), the Cité de l’architecture makes it possible to have a better understanding of the challenges
in urban development, appreciate the interactions between contemporary design and heritage, and finally to
understand the research of professionals to resolve the architectural challenges of the future. The Musée des
Monuments français, which is part of the Cité, presents a unique panorama of architecture from the Middle Ages
to the present day in its three galleries. The place wonderfully portrays the connections between ‘the old’ and
‘the new’, by maintaining a subtle balance between heritage and creation.

Other museums close to the Eiffel TowerSeveral other museums are within easy walking distance of the Eiffel Tower and make a nice walk. Starting
from the Seine riverbanks to the west of Trocadéro gardens, wine buffs can set off to enjoy a visit to the Musée du Vin. The museum is housed on the site of former limestone quarries, close to the former springs of Passy
mineral water. A collection of thousands of objects relating to vines and wine are exhibited. Visits, which may
be combined with tasting sessions, relate the history of wine growing in Paris. Further up the hill, the Musée Clémenceau retraces the life of this French politician, elected chairman of the Cabinet in 1917. He lived in this
apartment for 35 years up to his death in November 1929. Afterwards, you can go back up rue Benjamin Fran-
klin to Place du Trocadéro towards the Musée de l’Homme. This museum of palaeontology is currently under-
going renovation work and is due to reopen in 2004. Art fans should head down avenue du Président Wilson
to two major contemporary venues. The Palais de Tokyo, first: it showcases contemporary, notably French and
European art, through exhibitions, talks and screenings that combine all the art disciplines: painting, sculpture,
design, video, photography, dance … The Palais de Tokyo has two restaurants with resolutely avant-garde
decor: the Tokyo Eat, and the Nouveau Restaurant, and a cocktail bar. In the wing of the same building, the
Musée d’Art moderne de la Ville de Paris houses a permanent collection of some 8,000 works reflecting inter-
national modern art and avant-garde art of the 20th century. Emblematic works by Picasso, Braque, Giacometti,
Modigliani and Yves Klein can be seen all year round, as well as temporary exhibitions. A final stop-off for

Monuments and great tourist sites //Although the Eiffel Tower merits a full half-day visit, there are lots of other places and monuments within easy
walking distance of the Champ de Mars. You could easily spend a whole day in this wonderful district of Paris.
Eiffel Tower: the roof of Paris The Eiffel Tower is a symbol of France worldwide. But is also the place to go to admire Paris. The excitement
begins as you go up in the lift and see the panoramic view through the windows. The perspective changes as
you ascend to the top of the tower, 276 metres above the ground. Stopping off on the first floor, you can stroll
around the huge visiting area and discover the history of the monument through an exhibition-itinerary called
‘L’épopée de la tour’. The East corner has a special itinerary for children and blind people. On the second floor,
the circular view has a corner and viewpoint that is ideal for taking photos. The Jules Vernes restaurant is also
here. Don’t miss the well-like opening in the middle which gives a bird’s eye view of the ground! It is also from
this level that visitors take the lift to the top of the tower, 160 metres higher. The view from the panoramic
lifts reveals the architectural scale and daring of the monument. The two upper levels (one covered, the other
open-air) both offer stunning views of Paris day and night in all weather. It is here that you can see the office
of Gustave Eiffel, inhabited by life-like wax figures. And at the top, a champagne bar serves the best sparkling
pink and white champagne with one of the finest sights in Paris.

Performing arts at the Théâtre national de ChaillotHoused in the prestigious Palais de Chaillot, built for the World Fair of 1878, the Théâtre national de Chaillot
is one of Paris’s four national theatres. For a long time, it was the symbol of popular theatre in the capital,
associated with great actors like Jean Vilar or Antoine Vitez. Now a centre for dance and theatre, the Théâtre de

Discover the underwater world at the aquarium de ParisThe Paris Cinéaqua aquarium is simply amazing. Its 43 tanks containing 4 million litres of water are home to
500 species of fish and invertebrates (some 10,000 specimens excluding plant life). Much more than an aqua-
rium, Cinéaqua offers a tour of the underwater world over a 3,500 m2 itinerary. The Polynesian tank alone has
600 corals, and the big tank, crossed through an impressive tunnel, contains 30 sharks of four different species
in 3 million litres of water. Its 500,000-litre Aquastudio provides a unique vision of the underwater world with
its 34-cm-thick window and weighing 24 tons. This unusual place is also an original events venue: exhibitions
by painters are photographers are renewed each month, and talks or film screenings take place in the two
cinema auditoriums. The aquarium regularly offers shows (puppets, theatre, dance, etc.) on the theme of the
marine world for children and adults. A great day out full of new discoveries.

Shopping for art and decor at the Village suisseA stone’s throw from the Champ de Mars and the École Militaire, the Village Suisse is an original place to visit
and buy or sell antiques and old or contemporary works of art. A Swiss Village was initially reconstructed for the
World Fair of 1900. Gradually second-hand dealers moved into the area and it is now a popular and sumptuous
showcase for antique dealers and gallery owners. It was designed as a permanent trade show; now visitors can
admire and also buy vintage objects and paintings from 80 or so galleries and collectors. Some are specialists
in ancient objects from the Middle East, others in silverware or articles of tableware, ceramics and porcelain,
watches and clocks, or even maritime antiques. A great opportunity to pick up something extra special ...

Other cultural and tourist sitesNear to the Eiffel Tower, there are numerous other interesting places and monuments to walk to. The glass-
panelled Mur pour la Paix (Peace Wall) stands in the Champ de Mars. The word ‘peace’ is written here in 49
languages. Freely inspired by the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem, it enables visitors to leave messages of peace. On
the other side of the Seine, close to Alma bridge, the Fondation Pierre Bergé – Yves Saint Laurent extends the
history of the couture house, which closed in 2002. Housed in a magnificent former mansion house, it retraces
the history of fashion as imagined by the couturier, an icon of haute couture and luxury à la française. It looks
after a collection of 5,000 clothes and accessories, drawings and objects relating to fashion design. The foun-
dation organizes numerous temporary exhibitions on the themes of fashion, painting and the decorative arts.

Original outings //Les Cars RougesDeparting from Quai Branly, opposite Iéna bridge, or the Southern end of the Champ de Mars (avenue Joseph
Bouvard) the Cars Rouges take passengers on a full tour of the main tourist sites in Paris. The itinerary, divi-
ded into 9 stops (Eiffel Tower, Champ de Mars, Musée du Louvre, Notre-Dame, Musée d’Orsay, Opéra Garnier,
Champs-Élysées, Grand Palais and Trocadéro), offers some of the best views of the city in around two hours.
In fine weather, these red double-decker buses offer open-air tours. There is commentary on the circuit in nine
languages and tickets are valid for two days, which makes it possible to discover the city at your own pace, and
get off the bus when you like in order to visit somewhere or go for a stroll, then get back on again the same
day or the following day. The Cars Rouges tours can be combined with a one-hour boat trip with commentary
on the Seine.

Paris TrikkesSporty types will opt for this amusing and amazing mode of trendy urban transport. This little electric motor on
wheels is a combination of a scooter, skis and a skateboard. It has a front wheel and handlebars and two back
wheels with foot-rests. What’s more it is a 100 % clean way to get around the city. Trikkes, based on avenue de
la Motte-Picquet, near to the Champ de Mars, organizes two-hour guided tours between the great sights and
monuments in the centre of Paris (Invalides, the Louvre, the Musée d’Orsay, Place Vendôme, the Tuileries, etc.).
The itinerary, led by bilingual French-English guides, follows typical Parisian streets and avenues, away from
crowded routes. Cultural and sporty!

Eurosites: Toutbio launches the ‘innovation 100% organic’ cocktailToutbio, the organic catering entity of Eurosites, has long been determined to make itself one of the distinctive
elements in its services for the organization of seminars and company events. Better still, the 100% organic
food and cocktail designer has decided to make its ‘natural’ menus an innovative and gourmet experience by
completely changing the genre. The judging is in the tasting! The new generation cocktails proposed by Toutbio
have been supplemented in recent weeks with some amazing new drinks like Bar à nuages, where you can taste
a froth of beetroot, garden peas, or potatoes accompanied with crunchy vegetables. Or even Bubbles salés,

A new film to discover Promenade des Sens®
