Dear Parishioners, During Lent our community will participate in CRS Rice Bowl, a faith-in-action program that invites us to reflect on the challenges of global hunger—and our responsibility to respond to the needs of our global human family. The Gospel of Matthew (25:31-46) will be our constant reminder that we ought to commit to sharing what we have with those in need, trusting in God's abundance, and doing all we can to help feed the hungry. Through our Lenten prayers, fasting and almsgiving, we will be encouraged to respond to the call to make sure that all our brothers and sisters - and especially all children around the world - are fed good, nutritious food that gives them what they need to fulfill their God-given potential. During this holy season of Lent, CRS Rice Bowl invites us to focus our attention on three countries, namely, Madagascar, El Salvador, and Timor-Leste. It is important that you come together as a family and reflect on the cross of hunger and lack of proper nutrition that so many of our brothers and sisters in those countries and all around the world are forced to endure. In so doing, all of us can pledge to stand alongside these members of our human family, supporting them as the Gospel calls us to do. Please consider the following suggestions to fully engage in this year’s Lenten journey: • Use your 2021 Rice Bowl Calendar daily to guide your prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. • Read the Stories of Hope and daily reflections to inspire your Lenten journey. Visit Lenten Stories | CRS Rice Bowl or CRS’ You Tube channel to watch videos of the people and communities we will support through our Lenten gifts to CRS Rice Bowl. • Prepare simple, Meatless meals on all Fridays of Lent to eat in solidarity with our brothers and sisters around the world - you could even attempt to cook some food from Madagascar, El Salvador, and/or Timor-Leste! We will collect your CRS Rice Bowls at the end of Lent. There will be baskets in the back of the church. Thank you for participating in CRS Rice Bowl with your family. I pray these lines find all doing well. All is good here, but I need to share that I have just finished being quarantined for the second time in three weeks. I tested negative both times, but it has heightened my mind to keep remembering that we are still in the midst of this pandemic. Masks and social distance are required. I will not get into details but in both instances, it could have easily been avoided, both cases were a matter of others not taking precautions seriously. My reason for sharing this is – please still be very careful and always
err on the side of caution. This week’s Gospel speaks to us about our vocation – our True Vocation. We heard in today’s Gospel that people were bringing their sick to Jesus and He was healing them. As wonderful as this is it was not the reason why He came into the world. The beauty was that Jesus obviously knew this, but the question needs to be asked – are we answering what Jesus has called us to do? Very quick story, in my other parish I drew the cover for a bulletin, just like I did here a few weeks back. There was a nun who came to the parish and told me that I missed my calling – I should have been an artist. I took this to mean that she loved my art, I also stepped up my homilies – just in case LOL. The point of the story is that people will see gifts and talents we possess and while they may comment it is really up to us to discern what it is that we are called to do with, and make of, our lives. And we definitely want to do this before we see Jesus face to face! Don’t misunderstand me – seeing Jesus face to face is going to be Amazing!!! Its just that knowing we have fulfilled our calling will be the icing on the cake. I mention cake because Lent is almost here and there will be no cake til Easter so get it in now! Preach, teach and heal “He approached, grasped her hand, and helped her up.” – Mark 1:31 One of the many things that was taken away from us during the pandemic was the ability to physically touch one another. We could no longer hold hands at Mass or hug or shake hands at the sign of peace or when we greet others before and after Mass. And we were told to avoid physical contact and to social distance from one another. In Mark’s Gospel this weekend, we read about Jesus going to the home of Simon and Andrew, and while there, He heals Simon’s mother-in-law from a fever. He did this by simply taking her by the hand and helping her up. She was healed by the physical touch of the Lord. We can assume that the healing was immediate since she began to wait on their needs. Others in the area who were ill or possessed by de-mons were brought to Jesus. We read that Jesus healed many of various diseases and drove out many demons. The next day He set out to nearby villages to drive out demons and preach in the synagogues. This first chapter of Mark is the beginning of Jesus’s public ministry and sets forth a kind of agenda for His future ministry – to preach, teach, and heal. This is the example our priests and deacons use today. And this is our role as well by virtue of our baptism. Through baptism you have been commissioned and empowered to bring healing to others by feeding the hungry, sheltering the poor, and bringing comfort to the sick, among other corporal works of mercy. Have the courage today to make a difference in your community by joining a parish ministry or outreach that brings comfort and healing to those who need it most. Bishop Gregory Parkes

Regulations on Fasting and Abstinence The dual disciplines of fasting and abstinence have a long history in the Catholic Church. Going back to the early Church, the purpose behind the custom of self denial is not punishment; it is to simplify our lifestyles so that we create a certain emptiness. In this way, freed from all distractions, we are able to hear and respond to God’s continued call to conversion and holiness. ♦ Fasting is to be observed on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday by all Catholics between the ages of 18 to 59 years (inclusive). On days of fasting, one full meal is allowed. Two smaller meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to one’s needs, but together they should not equal another full meal. Eating between meals is not permitted, but liquids are allowed. ♦ Abstinence from meat is to be observed by all Catholics who are 14 years of age and older. Ash Wednesday, all the Fridays of Lent, and Good Friday are days of abstinence. Note: If a person is unable to observe the above regulations due to ill health or other serious reasons, they are urged to practice other forms of self denial that are suitable to their condition. Fasting, almsgiving, and prayer are the three traditional disciplines of Lent. The faithful and catechumens should undertake these practices seriously in a spirit of penance and of preparation for baptism or of renewal of baptism at Easter.

"We are up and running, accepting donations and making deliveries. We have 4 teams all in full gear but our donations are not keeping pace. So we are really low on many of our
essentials. We are completely out of usable lamps and lightbulbs, twin/full metal bed frames and full mattress sets. Also we are in need of dressers/chests, rugs and matching dining room chairs. As usual, we need twin sheets sets, twin comforters, twin mattress pads and new pillows, hangers, coffee makers, crockpots, and irons. Our wall art is pretty stale too! So we are open for drop off donations on Tuesdays from 9:00-1:00. Our Public Masses Have Resumed With Revised Mass Schedule and Safety
Protocols In Effect (Face masks are mandatory for people
who attend mass).
Here are some details of some changes to expect. The dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass is still in effect and will be until further notice. Everyone must use main entrance and follow the instructions of the ushers. Please be patient. The side doors are ONLY emergency exits. They are marked by green crosses. People who live in the same home may sit together. Ushers will greet each person and show them to their seat. In order to properly disinfect after each Mass, the Sunday schedule will be:
Saturday 4:00 pm Sunday 7am, 9am & 11am,
Spanish at 1pm Please limit private prayer after mass to no longer than 5 minutes so our volunteers can properly disinfect the church. The chapel and cry room will remain closed. There will be a collection basket at the entrance. No basket will be passed around and there will be no basket bearers. Hand sanitizer dispensers are in the Narthex as you enter and leave. No holding hands at Our Father and no contact peace. Ushers will direct section by section in a single line at three communion spots. Communion is ONLY distributed on the hand, not the tongue, for the time being at Incarnation. Please respect other’s space in communion line with proper distance.

Las puertas laterales de la iglesia se usarían SOLO en emergencia. Siga la guía de las marcas con cinta verde en los bancos. Los ujieres (acomodadores) cortésmente le indicarán los espacios disponibles. Las personas que viven en una misma casa pueden sentarse juntos en el mismo banco. En atención al hecho de que debemos desinfectar los bancos después de cada misa, el horario de celebración de misas es como sigue:

La capilla y el cuarto para familias con niños pequeños permanecerán cerrados. Canasta de colecta: las encontraremos a la entrada. No pasaremos la canasta dentro de la misa y por el momento las especies para la consagración serán colocados en la mesa cerca del altar en lugar de llevarlos en procesión. Tendrá la oportunidad de higienizar sus manos a la entrada/salida del templo. No unirnos de manos durante el Padre Nuestro; no contacto en el saludo de la Paz. Los Ujieres dirigen a los comulgantes a formar una sola fila para la comunión, la cual se hará por sección, habrán tres estaciones para recibir la Comunión. Por el momento, La Comunión será distribuida solo en la mano, no sobre la lengua. Por favor mantenga la distancia entre personas en la fila para recibir la Comunión.

LECTURAS DE HOY Primera lectura — Job declara que la vida en la tierra es monótona, miserable y triste (Job 7:1-4, 6-7). Salmo — Alaben al Señor, que sana los corazones quebrantados (Salmo 147 [146]). Segunda lectura — Pablo dice que no tienen otra alternativa sino la de predicar el Evangelio (1 Corintios 9:16-19, 22-23). Evangelio — Después de sanar a muchos enfermos y de expulsar a los demonios, Jesús predica la Buena Nueva (Marcos 1:29-39).
Predicar, enseñar y curar “Él se le acercó, y tomándola de la mano, la levantó”. – Marcos 1,31 Una de las muchas cosas que nos quitó la pandemia fue la habilidad de tener contacto físico con otras personas. Ya no podemos darnos la mano en la Misa o abrazarnos o estrecharnos la mano durante la señal de la paz, ni cuando saludamos a las personas antes y después de la Misa. Se nos dijo, además, que evitáramos el contacto físico y que nos distanciáramos físicamente los unos de los otros. En el Evangelio según san Marcos de este fin de semana leemos que Jesús fue a la casa de Simón y Andrés, y mientras estaba allí curó a la suegra de Simón de una fiebre. Lo hizo simplemente tomándola de la mano y ayudándola a levantarse. Ella fue curada por el contacto físico con el Señor. Podemos asumir que la curación fue inmediata, ya que ella comenzó a atender a sus huéspedes. Otros en la región, que estaban enfermos o poseídos por demonios fueron llevados a Jesús. Leemos que Jesús curó muchas de las enfermedades y expulsó a muchos demonios. Al día siguiente, se dirigió a los pueblos cercanos para expulsar a los demonios y predicar en las sinagogas. Este primer capítulo del Evangelio de san Marcos es el comienzo del ministerio público de Jesús y establece una especie de agenda para su futuro ministerio: predicar, enseñar y curar. Éste es el ejemplo que nuestros sacerdotes y diáconos practican hoy en día. Y éste es nuestro papel también en virtud de nuestro Bautismo. A través del Bautismo ustedes han sido enviados y empoderados para sanar los males de otras personas: alimentando al hambriento, protegiendo a los pobres y llevando el consuelo a los enfermos, que son algunas de las obras corporales de misericordia. Tengan hoy la valentía para marcar una diferencia en su comunidad uniéndose a un ministerio parroquial o de ayuda comunitaria, que lleve consuelo y alivio a las personas que más lo necesitan. -Monseñor Gregory Parkes
Ruego que estas líneas les encuentren muy bien. Por aquí todo bien, pero necesito compartirles que acabo de pasar un período de cuarentena por segunda vez en tres semanas. Ambas veces tuve un resultado negativo; pero me ha enseñado a permanecer alerta y mi mente recordándome que todavía estamos en medio de una pandemia. Debemos continuar respetando el uso de las máscaras y la distancia social. No entraré en
muchos detalles, pero en mi caso, ambas veces pude haberlo evitado; en ambos casos fue debido a descuido de otras personas que no tomaron precauciones evitando así el contagio; Mi razón para compartirlo con ustedes es para instarles a tomar todas las precauciones debidas. El Evangelio de esta semana nos habla de nuestra vocación – nuestra Verdadera Vocación. Hoy escuchamos en el Evangelio, que la gente traía sus enfermos a Jesús y que Él los sanaba. Es ciertamente maravilloso y alentador recibir sanación. Por muy maravilloso que fuese, no es la razón por la que Jesús vino al mundo. Lo maravilloso es que Jesús obviamente sabía esto, pero cabe hacer la pregunta: ¿estamos ejecutando lo que Jesús nos ha llamado a hacer? Les cuento una historia ié cortica: Preparé la cubierta para un boletín en mi otra parroquia; viene siendo lo mismo que hice aquí hace unas cuantas semanas. Una monja vino a la parroquia y me dijo que no había escuchado mi llamado, que yo debí ser un artista. Sus palabras me indicaron que ella disfrutaba mi arte, y también mis homilías - por si acaso LOL. El punto de la historia es que la gente capta e identifica los talentos de los otros y aunque hagan elogios, es realmente nuestra responsabilidad discernir cual es nuestro llamado. ¡Y definitivamente debemos hacerlo antes de encontrarnos con Jesús cara a cara! Por favor no me mal-entiendan - ver a Jesús cara a cara, será super extraordinario !!!!, Es solo que sabiendo que hemos respondido a nuestro llamado y verlo a Él sería como la fresa encima del helado porque la Cuaresma casi llega y no habrá pastel hasta la Pascua de Resurrección, así que agárrelo ahora! ¡Dios Bendiga Su Semana!
