Vision Statement

Incarnation Parish is a Roman Catholic community centered around the Lord Jesus, a living sign of hope to all that the Word made flesh dwells among us. His presence and love is encountered in all areas of our life together, especially in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, in Sacred Scripture and in the Sacraments. We seek to make the Lord's presence and love known through service and edu-cation, through evangelization and through con-tinual conversion and renewal in Him. We entrust our life together and our sharing in the mission of Christ to the protection and intercession of Mary,

Mother of the Lord and our Mother.

BRING A FRIEND TO CHURCH!

FROM THE PASTOR’S PEN

I love this time of year. I always have. Growing up I didn’t exactly love school but I certainly didn’t mind it.

And even though I was a bit of a beach bum, the cooler weather was always welcomed. I guess what I loved so much

about September was the possibilities it brought with a new school year or a new pastoral year. Even the dying leaves

that bring so much color will return with the promise of Spring.

This September brings us new promise of rebirth in our 90th year here at Incarnation. The Ministry Fair going

on in the lower church is just brimming with possibilities for individuals and indeed our whole parish. When Jesus

called the Twelve he simply invited them: “Come and See!” Will you come down and see. Sometimes we need a little

help to really see the good that is being done; the good that I can do.

With September and the falling of the leaves we see trees at their core. Sometimes we rediscover things that

were hidden by the leaves. Driving on the Belt Parkway I will soon be able to see again from the highway my old parish

Church of St. Clare in Rosedale as the leaves give way. But I guarantee the leaves will return come spring.

This September as leaves fall here at Incarnation we are each called to Arise Together in Christ. This diocesan

experience is an opportunity to talk about and share our faith experiences of Jesus Christ with others. This sharing—

how the Church grew from day one—is a chance to help others grow in the Faith and allow our own Faith be

strengthened. It’s funny how at times the simplest things can be the most difficult. The Arise Together in Christ

experience is intended for small groups of 6-10 people who will gather in homes all throughout Hollis and Queens

Village for 90 minutes simply to talk about Jesus and His Good News.

This weekend you can find out more information in person at the Arise table in the lower church. Next weekend

we look to begin signing up people as they choose what group time and day that they would like to be a part of.

Certainly, the leaves are beginning to fall but here at Incarnation we are still reaching for new heights as we

begin our 90th Pastoral Year.

God Bless and Come and See!,

LIVING LIGHTS. Securing an Annual Living Light

Votive Candle to Honor a Loved One, Remember

a Special Intention, or Mark a Milestone is a con-

tinual and wonderful way to celebrate sentiments

and offer intercessions of remembrance, hope and

gratitude. Two wall mounted electric candle

stands now hang in our church on either side of the newly

restored and expanded Saints’ Shrine. These unique and

inviting candles are made of real wax with electrified illu-

mination to insure your Living Light burns brightly

throughout the year. A plaque displaying the name of

your loved one, your intention, or your milestone will be

mounted before your Living Light Votive Candle.

Plaques will remain for the year you have secured your

Living Light and may be renewed or rededicated for addi-

tional 12 month periods. In addition to its rightful place

before your Living Light in the Saints’ Shrine, your Loved

One, Special Intention, or Milestone will also be included

in the Living Light Section of the Parish Website. See the

The Shepherd Speaks

Mother Teresa, in all aspects of her life, was a generous

dispenser of divine mercy, making herself available for

everyone through her welcome and defence of human

life, those unborn and those abandoned and discarded.

She was committed to defending life, ceaselessly pro-

claiming that “the unborn are the weakest, the smallest, the most vulner-

able”. She bowed down before those who were spent, left to die on the

side of the road, seeing in them their God-given dignity; she made her

voice heard before the powers of this world, so that they

might recognize their guilt for the crime – the crimes! –

of poverty they created. For Mother Teresa, mercy was

the “salt” which gave flavour to her work, it was the

“light” which shone in the darkness of the many who no

longer had tears to shed for their poverty and suffering.

Homily, Mass of Canonization

Mustard Seed Ministry: Beginning in October at the

10:30 Mass. At the end of the Opening

Prayer children from ages four to seven will

be invited to the lower church to hear the

reading(s) in a special way by a trained

craft, singing a song, etc. At the end of the Prayer of the

Faithful of the Mass the children will return and sit back

with their parents and families. For more information see

Mrs. Fouche after Mass or call the Rel Ed Office.

items, coffee, tea and juices as well as each

other’s company. We thank the Girl Scouts

for sponsoring our first Hospitality Sunday

unity shared around the Altar flow into our

solidarity as the Family of Incarnation.

lics who have not yet received First Eucha-

rist or Confirmation. Please call the Religious Education
