inchicore college of further education presents

Coláiste Bhreisoideachais Inse Chór

Welcome to Dancemoves12,

performed by the students of the Dance Studies

Course at Inchicore College. This course has been

in existence since 1994, and has gone from

strength to strength during this time.

The college provides a three-year full-time

programme, offering students the chance to

develop their dance technique and performance

ability to a higher level; and also gives them the

opportunity to obtain international teaching

qualifications. Graduates of the course are

working and studying all over the world: from

England, Holland and France, to as far away as

New Zealand in such varied roles as teachers,

dancers and choreographers.

This year, 2011-2012 has been a very busy yearfor the Dance Studies Course. In July 2011eleven of our second year students traveled toVienna to take part in the Impulstanz Interna-tional Dance Festival for three weeks as part ofthe Leonardo da Vinci mobility project.

Further funding was provided by the Leonardoda Vinci project, to send ten of our first yearstudents to Le Pacifique CDC ChoreographicDevelopment Centre in Grenoble in France inSeptember, where the students will undergo amentored choreographic training course thatleads to the production of dance work/worksin the theatre space. They will gain access toadvanced-level research and training in choreog-raphy, in a dedicated choreographic researchcentre with specialist workshops and classesdesigned to further this aim.

This course will further students’ creative andperformance skills and opportunities, building onthose regular showcase opportunities thatpresently exist on the curriculum.

In September 2010 our third year studentsstarted a pilot project in collaboration withInchicore College and the local community. TheCollege collaborated with four of the local pri-mary schools in the Inchicore area, where thestudents delivered the dance element of thephysical education module on the primary schoolcurriculum with elements of the ISTD dancesyllabus. This project proved to be a greatsuccess for both the primary schools and ourcurrent third year graduates and we will continuewith this project in the coming year.

Academically, we have had another fruitful year, with students entering the Dance Diploma inInstruction and Dance Diploma in Education. Our students have also taken the Imperial Soci-ety of Dancing Major examinations and the RoyalAcademy of Dance Major examinations in therecent session. Our advanced students are con-tinuing their Royal Academy of Dance Certificatein Ballet Teaching studies as part of the distancelearning program at Royal Academy of Danceheadquarters.

Finally the Dance Studies Course would like tothank all the dance teachers who have supportedus over the years. Without their support our suc-cess would not be possible. We hope you enjoythis evening’s show.

Now sit back and enjoy...Dancemoves 12
