You may also be approached to participate in research concerning this. Participation in said research will not effect your grades in these tasks. I will not be aware of who has or has not participated in the research.
You are strongly advised to enter factual information when signing up for a SL account (e.g. Age, etc), not only is it easier to remember if you need to recover a lost password, but it is also part of the SecondLife TOS ('Terms of Service') which are listed in detail at the website below.
* Enter your date of birth and email (use your RMIT student email address).
* Enter a 'challenge & Response' question & answer.
* Select a 'FREE' account'.
Use your RMIT email to send your avatar name to your lecturer, this is an important step as access to the land the Polyclinic is on needs to be manually granted. Use this time to familiarise yourself with SecondLife.
• Now… follow along that tunnel watching the tutorials as you go.• You need only stand in front of the screen or sit on the beanbags to
watch the tutorial
• There is an icon below the screen which links to a website that contains the tutorials as well if you prefer. But the more you can “muck around” now and get used to moving and interacting the better.
• When you have reached the end of the tunnel, email me your exact Avatar name. When your name has been processed you will be sent an invite. THEN you can enter the clinic area.

To go in to second life:
Second life viewer 2 (Available for Mac and Windows)
– Click “share” and set the permission to “anyone at RMIT with the link”
– Copy the link from this window
– OK
• Use the link to post in Blackboard under the 3DSLIHD program level shell >assessment tasks> discipline name
– This is where all the other disciplines work will be stored too, so that you can view it.
– Post your link as a thread under your discipline
– Create thread>Title using your avatar name>Paste link in message body>select the link text>Hyperlink button >paste in the link box>select “open link in new window> OK
• You can come here too to view the videos others have made.
• 'Camtasia' is a fully functional 30 day demo that records local as well as remote audio and is available for Mac and Windows (can save as iPhone small file format) http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia/
• HandBrake can help you compress big video files down to a small “iPhone” format http://handbrake.fr/?article=download
• If you can’t run the capture software on your machine, fear not! Only one of you has to really be able to capture and then they can email you the vid afterwards
