ByS.R. POOBESH GOWTHAM - R.AAFRIN - K.SURYA KRISHNA - V.SANJANA - S.SANTHANA NANDHINI
Class – VIIUnder the Guidance of
Mrs. FLORENCE JOHNSON
THE ASHOK LEYLAND SCHOOLE1 – Sipcot Industrial Complex, Phase II Hosur
Tamil Nadu – 635 109 1
We happened to know that there are lack of basic amenities in Government Schools (places of education for thousands of students from economically vulnerable section of society) in and around Hosur .
Step 1 : FEEL
2
We visited a few schools and selected our nearby Government High School, Mornapalli Village, Hosur.
We enlisted their problems and were shocked to know that “the girls’ toilet there lacked a roof” (lack of toilet hygiene and awareness was also evident) we felt embarrassed and empathetic towards their plight.

Government High School, Mornapalli
1. Government High School (Tamil and Telugu Medium), Mornapalli, Sipcot II, Hosur, imparts knowledge to hundreds of students from economically weaker section of the society. Students come here by walking from various places of Hosur.
2. Most of them are from families having Agricultural background, masons and daily wage earners.
3. They lack basic awareness on hygiene.
4. We met the Principal of the School and assured to contribute roof for the girls’ toilet. 4
A Roofless
girls’ to
ilet!
It was very
untidy too!
No toilet hygiene and awareness!

Step 2 : IMAGINE
As drivers of change we discussed the changes that we are going to bring in that school with our School principal Mrs.Uma Srinivasan, Mentor Mrs. Florence Johnson, some teachers and our group members. We have generated a few ideas as follows:-Creating awareness among our school students by-
By performing a skit (to highlight the importance of hygiene)Giving a speech in the assembly (to highlight the value of joy of giving)Through life skills class (to teach the art of helping)By Public announcement system (to raise fund for the noble cause)
We collected rupees ten thousand from our school children for the noble cause 6
Why we have chosen our school students to contribute for this greatest cause? To make the students civically aware
citizens.
To develop in them the joy of giving.
To work in a team for a positive cause.
To develop in them the spirit of empathy
towards self respect.
To prove that ‘Together we can bring a change’.

Step 3 : Do!
We discussed with the mason. We implemented all our plans. Once we collected the required amount ,we started building it.

We Changed Lives!

Step 4 : Share!
We invited them to our school to provide them awareness about Toilet hygiene through skit and ppt and made them to take an oath that they would maintain
hygiene.
We explained them how to maintain their toilet in the future and presented them things to maintain the toilet. 11
At last we reached our goal!
By bringing them to our school. Presenting them a clean toilet with a roof.
To make them aware of toilet
hygiene and it’s maintenance in
the future.
To bring the plight of
those students to the heart of
others. 12
