Marie, as you may know, and have always noticed one thing. When travelling to the USA or when American’s came to our family’s tourist resort, they always wore their flag on their sleeve, so to speak. Driving through the USA the number and size of American flags always stands out to me. In the last couple of years you have seen me either write an article or have a contest, or simply recommend that we too, raise our flag. What better way to say “I AM CANADIAN AND DAMN PROUD OF IT”. Where else do you hear of people flocking to in order to be part of our great country. We have a pristine country proven by simply driving minutes north of the GTA and in our own backyards locally! We have the clearest lakes, the lushest hills, valleys and mountains that people want to come to experience. We are polite according to other countries who see that as a fault, personally I am proud of that too! We are a peace loving people not afraid to help a neighbour. We are a safe country to travel, to visit, to live. Yes, you don’t even have to be afraid to go out at night…except for perhaps our abundant wildlife in some areas. Do you want to have people around? We have some of the best cities in the world, large and small. But if you want to be alone, or have open space, simply drive just minutes from any of these and enjoy the countries vastness. I am proud to call Canada my home. I am proud to fly my flag on my house, my office, anywhere I have the opportunity. I have lived in the border town of Sault Ste. Marie, as you may know, and have always noticed one thing. When travelling to the USA or when American’s came to our family’s tourist resort, they always wore their flag on their sleeve, so to speak. Driving through the USA the number and size of American flags always stands out to me.

In the last couple of years you have seen me either write an article or have a contest, or simply recommend that we too, raise our flag. What better way to say “I AM CANADIAN AND DAMN PROUD OF IT”. Where else do you hear of people flocking to in order to be part of our great country. We have a pristine country proven by simply driving minutes north of the GTA and in our own backyards locally!

We have the clearest lakes, the lushest hills, valleys and mountains that people want to come to experience. We are polite according to other countries who see that as a fault, personally I am proud of that too! We are a peace loving people not afraid to help a neighbour.

We are a safe country to travel, to visit, to live. Yes, you don’t even have to be afraid to go out at night…except for perhaps our abundant wildlife in some areas. Do you want to have people around?

We have some of the best cities in the world, large and small. But if you want to be alone, or have open space, simply drive just minutes from any of these and enjoy the countries vastness.

SIGNIFICANT PRICE INCREASES AND HIGH DEMAND IN THE GREATER TORONTO AREA DURING THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2017 SPURRED GROWING NUMBERS OF BUYERS TO LEAVE THE DOWNTOWN CORE.

These buyers, known as move-over buyers, are looking for greater affordability in markets across southern Ontario. In turn, they are driving price appreciation in Mississauga, Brampton, Durham, Barrie, Hamilton-Burlington, Windsor, and as far away as Kingston. The GTA saw the average residential sale price rise by 29 per cent, up from $675,492 in the first quarter of 2016 to $873,631 during the same period in 2017.

High demand and limited inventory resulted in significant price appreciation across the GTA during the first quarter of 2017.

Supply increased in the last few weeks of March, as more sellers, particularly downsizers, chose to list their homes and move outside the GTA looking for better value. Recently announced government regulation changes to slow rising prices across the GTA are expected to have a short-term impact as buyers adjust; these regulations are not anticipated to affect demand in the long-term. Demand is expected to remain high throughout 2017 and it’s common for young, first-time buyers to receive financial assistance from their parents. Move-up buyers looking for the convenience of urban living continue to drive overall demand.

Big Yard vs. Small YardIf you harbour visions of hosting neighbourhood barbeques in a big backyard complete with a bubbling water feature and strings of bistro lights, it may be time to scale back this imaginary scene.
