GEF delegation submits demand Port Blair, July 10 A delegation of Government Employees Federation, A&N Islands led by its President, Shri. P.Kannan met the Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu at Raj Niwas on July 05, 2018 and submitted a charter of demands pertaining to Government servants and Foundation Day celebration of NABARD Port Blair, July 10 NABARD will be celebrating its 37th Foundation Day on 12th July 2018 at 11 am at Keys Hotel here. The ceremony will be graced by the Secretary (Agri.), A&N Administration, Shri Ramesh Verma as chief guest. During the function, good performing SHGs/SHPIs and Banks towards their contribution under NABARD's Self Help Group- Bank Linkage Programme will be felicitated. Port Blair, July 10 The Counselling for the admission for various UG Courses in ANCOL will be held. on 20th and 21st of July 2018 from 9 am to 5 pm. Accordingly, counseling for B.Com. (Gen.), B.Com (Corporate Secretryship), and BBA& B.A. (Economics) will be held on July 20 and for B.A. (English), B.Sc. Psychology), B.A. (Sociology) &BPA (Hindustani Vocal), it will be held on July 21. The student's admission will be followed on the basis Merit list of each Category as per final merit disclosed on website/displayed at Counselling for admission to ANCOL ANCOL notice Board. For BPA (Hindustani Vocal) 4-years Course, concerned students have been advised to attend the audition test (Voice test) on 21st July 2018 at 9 am and the qualified students will be admitted as per their merit of respective categories. Students have been advised to bring their original certificates of relevant documents which were uploaded in the Admission portal along with admission fees during counselling. The original certificates and admission fees are mandatory to confirm the admission, a communication said. Port Blair, July 10 An impressive welcome parade in honour of the new Director General of Police, Shri. Dependra Pathak was held at Police Lines here yesterday. Altogether 7 platoons including Executive Police (Male), Executive Police (Female), Home Guards, Fire Service, IRBn, Police Brass Band and Ladies Pipe Band participated in the parade. A gathering of about 500 police personnel of various ranks from different units and senior Officers from Police Department witnessed the function. In his address, the DGP conveyed his heartiest greetings to the people of A&N Islands, all members of A&N Police and their family members. He also congratulated the parade participants for their excellent performance. It also requested for registration of all temples and formation of a centralized autonomous body where the funds received by the government from the famous temples may be collected and handed over to the particular centralized body. Their demand also include reviewing the Reservation Policy; that reservation must be based on economic condition of the person rather than caste, creed or religion, a communication said. 10-member Isles’ delegation on visit to Indonesia Potential for tourism & scope of joint trade between India- Indonesia highlighted Port Blair, July 10 To enhance connectivity between A&N Islands and Provinces in Sumatra Island to promote trade, tourism and people to people contacts; facilitate B to B linkages between the Chamber of Commerce and the Indonesian Companies, a 10-member delegation of the Andaman Chamber of Commerce & Industry visited and interacted with the Provincial Government of Aceh and North Sumatra on the potentials of co-operation between Aceh & North Sumatera and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. A joint meeting with Ministry officials, Chamber of Aceh, Ambassador of India, Shri Pradeep Rawat, Consulate General, Dr. Salia Shah and some Indian investor in Indonesia was held on 8th July, 2018. During the meeting, the Director General of Foreign Affairs mentioned that the Prime Minister of India talked to the President of Indonesia about Tourism potential in Andaman. New Delhi, July 10 Government has convened an all party meeting on 17th of this month ahead of Monsoon session of Parliament. During the meeting, the Centre will seek Opposition's support for the smooth conduct of proceedings in both the Houses. Lok Sabha Speaker Smti Sumitra Mahajan has also called an all-party meeting on the same day to seek the co-operation from the floor leaders of different political parties Govt convenes all party meeting ahead of Monsoon Session of Parliament to ensure smooth transaction of business in the House. The Monsoon session of Parliament will begin on the 18th and will continue till the 10th of next month. Mass tree planting held Port Blair, July 10 As part of month long celebration of 69th Van Mahotsav-2018, a mass tree planting programme was organized by the Forest Extension & Publicity Division in the campus of GSSS Bhatubasti yesterday. The students, teachers, staff of the school and Officers from the Dept. of Environment and Forests participated in the event by planting fruit bearing, flower bearing, medicinal & shade bearing plants in the school campus. While speaking, he exhorted the farmers to adopt the varieties of rice developed by the Institute which will increase the yield comparatively and provide livelihood support. released by the Asian Games

organizers even though it was

not there in Indian Olympic

Association (IOA)’s list of 534

athletes published on June 5.

The draw for the handball has

been released with 13 teams

divided into four groups. The

group comprising India has

four teams while other groups

have three teams each.

India are in group D alongside

Bahrain, Chinese Taipei, India

and Iraq.

India’s women’s team were

however cleared by IOA and

Asian Games 2018: Indian men’s

handball team included

comprising South Korea,

Kazakhstan, China and North

Korea. The handball teams

have been under scanner as

Diving Unit (PBR) under

Component Commander. It

aimed at introducing the

cadet to scuba and

recreational diving. The

camp aided the

participants to develop

and hone their skills for

adventure in the marine

environment. The training

was imparted in three

phases. The first phase

was int roduction to

physiology of diving and

the danger associated with

diving in compressed air.

Cadets were made familiar

with the principle of laws

of diving and safety

regulations. Safety of the

Cadets was considered

paramount whilst

undertaking any of the

diving activities.
