DARE TO DREAM
Dear Friends,
Can we dare to dream of a world where cancer is no longer feared?Where it’s a disease that has acure?Where the majority are survivors and not victims. Yes, we can. The Indian Cancer Society withrenewedvigourandzealisstrivingtoturnthisdreamintoareality.
As India’s most respected NGO in the cancer space for the past 65 years, we play an active role increating awareness and encouraging early detection among themasses. Facilitating cure, rehabilitationfortheunderprivilegedpatientsandofferingsupporttosurvivorshasalwaysbeenourareaoffocus.
It is time now to scale up our activities, set new goals for 2020. A national footprint should see usmanning 100 mobile detection vans throughout the country creating cancer awareness through filmsdeveloped on key cancers in the regional languages and providing early detection at your doorstep.Theyouthofourcountrymust leadthechangeofmindsettowardsthisdreadeddiseasethroughsocialmediaandevents.RaisingRs. 100croresannually fordisbursement through theCancerCureFundwillmakethelife-savingtreatmentavailabletomanyofthosewhosimplycannotaffordit.
To this end, in the past one year, we have produced 4 films in 7 languages raising awareness andencouraging early detection. Students, young professionals and matinee idol - Varun Dhawan - havebeen enrolled to be part of our mission. CSR funding has enabled us to add a new state-of-the-artmobilemedicalunitdetectionvan,currentlyunderfabrication,toincreaseourreachintheruralareas.
To further increase the impact of our Cancer Cure Fund, in collaborationwithHDFCAMC,wehave 13hospitals toourempanelled listacross India.Since itsestablishment in2011wehavesanctioned56.97crores, to fund the treatment of 2216 patients. We have now nearly quadrupled our disbursementswith the enhanced new fund and CSR support from HDFC. In fact, this dimension of the ICS successstory has evoked a Harvard Business School case study. A special paper on the fund was presentedat the last World Cancer Congress held in Australia, in December 2014, by our Medical Director, DrPurvishParikh.ICShasalsoreorganizeditsoperatingstructurebyidentifying4coreareas–Awareness&Screening,CancerCure,CancerRegistryresponsibleforresearchandknowledge,andRehabilitationandSurvivorship,whichincludestheUgam–supportgroupofchildhoodcancersurvivors.

The need of the hour is to come together from all walks of life, pool in our resources to battle thisdisease and emerge victorious. ABOUT INDIAN CANCER SOCIETY
Indian Cancer Societywas established in 1951 by Dr. D.J. Jussawalla andMr. Naval Tata as India’s first

continues to be the beacon of hope for thousands of our poor cancer affected brethren. The extent
of help required is phenomenal. Most of the patients come to us from all over the country and can’t
afford two meals a day. In such cases undergoing treatment is beyond their capacity. The society is
entirely dependent on public support for its various activities concernedwith financing the treatment
