Looking Ahead
Iwould like to challenge every pastor and church in our district to cast
a vision where you worship. Where should your local church be in
five years if the Lord tarries His coming? How many new people will
you try to reach – with the gospel and then disciple them? Will there be
any improvements or additions to your building? These type questions
need to be ask as you work on your Five-Year Plan.
During our last D.B.A. meeting the progress listed below was
adapted for our district. I prayed and fasted asking God to give me di-
rection as to what should be accomplished in our district within the
next 60 months. Find below the “Five in Five” program.
A big part of leadership is casting vision. The Lord told the Old Testa-
ment prophet Habakkuk concerning his vision to, “write the vision and
make it plain on tablets …” (Hab. 2:2) If we are not careful we get so busy
just living from day to day and week to week that we lose sight of the big
picture. In other words, vision casting is excluded at the expense of daily
existence. As churches and leaders we cannot allow this to happen.
With the Lord’s help I want to see the following five things accom-
plished within five years in this great district.
1. To continue to promote and encourage the practice of spiritualdisciplines.
*I want to challenge all Wesleyans in the district to read God’sword, pray, fast, and be faithful in church attendance. Thisbrings renewal, revivals, and a spirit of expectancy among ourpastors and lay people that God will speak to us!
2. To work hard to see the G.L.A.D. program brought to comple-tion.
*I believe by God’s help January of 2009 the district will be debtfree and the newly acquired acreage will be paid in full.
3. To start at least three new churches.
4. To revitalize and energize the churches in our district that arestruggling to grow.
*I plan to trouble shoot, give direction, hope, and encourage-ment to these pastors and churches.
5. To strive to see all of our churches pay 100% U.S.F.

G.L.A.D. UPDATE
Iwant to first of all say “thanks” to many
of you who have already joined theG.L.A.D. program. About a year and a
half ago I felt the Lord definitely led me(with the help of a lot of other people) tostart this campaign to see our district get outof debt and the 118 acres we purchased in2003 be paid in full by January of 2009.
I have some good news! The Lord is help-ing us and we are making some great prog-ress. The G.L.A.D. team has paid $130,349.06into the program and $259,200 has beenpledged. Hallelujah!
I would like to ask you to pray aboutsomething though. All we need is 84 more
leaders and this effort will be finished. If youhaven’t joined, would you consider doingso? Or if you are already a member maybe
you would take another unit or two to helpus finish on time.
Many of our churches have taken units. If your church has not joined, why not con-sider doing so? Your investment goes for agreat cause that will outlast us all.
Maybe God has blessed you financiallyand you could take a unit or two to helpwith the cause. If you have already signedup consider taking another unit. Why don’tyou join Deb and me as we have taken fiveunits in this campaign?
When we get phase one completed (theloan paid off) we will then do research tosee what would be best to build first.Maybe a multi-purpose building, residencefor retired pastors, or other ideas have beendiscussed as well.
