----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TONIGHT’S STARTING PITCHERS: Indianapolis probable starter Ian Snell is scheduled make his first start with Indianapolis since the 2005 season ... Snell, who was recently optioned from Pittsburgh has posted a 30-35 record over the last three seasons with the Pirates (2006-2008) ... The right hander was dominant in his one season with the Tribe back in 2005 as he posted a 11-4 record, 3.70 ERA and 104 strikeouts in 18 starts ... That season, Snell also became the first player ever to throw a no-hitter at Victory Field, when he blanked the Norfolk Tides on May 15. ... Set to oppose Snell is Toledo RHP Brooks Brown who has never faced the Indians in his career ... Brown, a Triple-A rookie, picked up his first victory in his last start on June 22 against Rochester, when he allowed four runs on eight hits over 5.1 innings ... Before that start, Brown had struggled, taking six consecutive losses to begin his Triple-A career, even though he allowed three or fewer earned runs in five of those six starts. WHAT A WEEK: Saturday night’s offensive and pitching stars for the Indians OF Jeff Salazar and LHP Tom Gorzelanny are both making excellent cases for Inter- national League Player of the Week honors ... In his seven games this past week (6/21-6/27) Salazar is batting .440 (11-for-25) with three home runs, four RBI and six runs scored ... The speedy outfielder has also collected multiple hits in three of those seven games, including back-to-back three hit efforts in the Tribe’s previous two games, while also adding to his team best stolen base total with two more swipes to give him 16 on the season ... Gorzelanny has dominated on the mound in his two starts this past week as the left hander has posted a 2-0 record, 0.90 ERA (1 ER in 10 IP) and 19 strikeouts in 10 innings pitched ... In his start last night, Gorzelanny also established an Indians’ season high with 12 punch outs in just five innings of work, including at least two strikeouts in each inning he pitched. RELIEVING THE PRESSURE: The Indianapolis bullpen has been lights out so far in the month of June as 10 relievers have combined to post a 2.47 ERA (22 ER in 80.0) and collect 65 strikeouts so far in the season’s third month ... Relievers Chris Bootcheck (0 ER in 9.2 IP) and Mike Koplove (0 ER in 10.1 IP) have led the way for the Tribe relief corps as the duo has yet to allow a run in a combined 20 innings pitched in the month of June ... Bootcheck also leads all hurlers in the IL with at least 30 strikeouts in strikeout to walk ratio with an 7.8 to 1 (47 SO vs. 6 BB) ratio, while both he and Koplove are tied for second in the League with 29 appearances. LET’S GO STREAKING: Both Indians’ C Erik Kratz and C/1B Hector Gimenez enter Sunday afternoon’s contest with hitting streaks of at least five games ... During his streak, Kratz has hit .310 (9-for-29) with five runs and four RBI, and the streak is Kratz’s third hitting streak of at least six games this season and his second already in the month of June .. Gimenez, who is recent addition to the Tribe roster, has hit safely in six of his first seven games in an Indians’ uniform and is batting .368 (7-for- 19) with three runs, a home run and six RBI during his current six game streak. TAKING ON TOLEDO: The Indians as a team are hitting .302 with 41 runs, eight home runs and 39 RBI in seven games against the Mud Hens this season ... INF Luis Cruz (.385, 5-for-13, 3 R, 3 RBI), OF Jeff Salazar (.321, 9-for-28, 2 R, 1 HR, 5 RBI) and C Erik Kratz (.316, 6-for-19, 4 R, 3 RBI) have led the Tribe offense in their seven meetings with Toledo this season as each has batted over .300 ... INF Brian Bixler has also had success against the Mud Hens this season as he leads the Tribe with nine runs scored against Toledo this season, the most runs scored by an Indians’ player against any opponent this season. TAKING ON THE TRIBE: Toledo as a team is hitting .252 with 41 runs, six home runs and 39 RBI in seven games against the Tribe this season ... INF Brent Dlugach (.440, 11-for-25, 6 R, 3 HR, 7 RBI), INF Ryan Roberson (.364, 8-for-22, 4 R, 2 RBI) and OF Brent Clevlen (.333, 3 R, 2 RBI) have led the Mud Hens offense in their six meetings with Indianapolis this season as each has batted over .300 ... Dlugach has been especially red hot against the Tribe as the infielder has collected multiple hits in four of his six games and has blasted three of his seven home runs against the Indians this season. FANTASTIC FIELDING: The Tribe defense currently ranks tied for first in the International League with a .981 fielding percentage and has committed the fewest errors (52) in the IL this season ... The Indians’ defense also continues to get out of jams by way of the double play as they have turned at least one double play in 17 of their last 22 games ... Indianapolis also currently sits atop the International League with 28 double plays turned in the month of June, and remain tied for fourth in the IL with 75 double plays turned so far this season. THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT: Indianapolis starting pitcher Brad Lincoln has been selected to participate in the 2009 All-Star Futures Game on July 12 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis ... Rated the Pittsburgh Pirates top pitching prospect entering the season, Lincoln joins current teammates Tom Gorzelanny, Ian Snell and Neil Walker as well as former Indians Steve Pearce and Andrew McCutchen as participants in the All-Star Futures game ... Lincoln made his Triple-A debut with the Tribe on June 24 in Lehigh Valley and picked up the win after allowing just one run on two hits over 6.2 innings ... The right hander held the IronPigs to just one hit over the first six innings of the game and has now posted a combined 2.20 ERA and 69 strikeouts in 81.2 innings (14 starts) between Double-A Altoona and Indianapolis this season.
