----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LETS PLAY TWO: Sunday will mark the seventh doubleheader for the Indians in this season so far ... The seven doubleheaders are the most in a single season since 2003 when the Tribe played in eight twin bills .... Five of the doubleheaders this season have taken place at Victory Field, which is one more than the last three years combined ... The five home doubleheaders also ties the record for the most played at Victory Field set back in 1997, the same year the Indians set a single-season (Victory Field era) record with 12 total doubleheaders. TODAY’S STARTING PITCHERS -- Game One: Indianapolis probable starter Ian Snell is scheduled to face Louisville for the first time this season ... Snell has faced the Bat’s a total of two times in his career with both outings taking place in 2005 ... The right hander is 2-0 with a 0.75 ERA in those two starts against Louisville having only allowed one run on 10 hits with 13 strikeouts in 12.0 innings against the Bats ... Snell will be making his second start for the Tribe this season after spending most of the year in the Pittsburgh Pirate’s starting rotation ... Set to oppose Snell, is Louisville starter Matt Maloney, who is facing the Tribe for the second time this season ... In his first start against the Indians on April 17, Maloney picked up the win after allowing just two run on seven hits, while striking out six in 6.1 innings of work ... The left hander is currently ranked among International League leaders in complete games (1st, 3), ERA (5th, 2.30) and WHIP (5th, 1.04) and won his most recent outing when he faced Gwinnett on June 28 allowing three runs and striking out six in 6.2 innings of work. TODAY’S STARTING PITCHERS -- Game Two: Indianapolis probable starter Daniel McCutchen is scheduled to face Louisville for the second time this season ... In his first start against Louisville on April 27, McCutchen received a loss after he allowed five runs on eight hits and struck out three in 5.2 innings of work ... The right hander has won his past two starts and also currently leads the Indians in wins (6), games started (14), innings pitched (79.2) and strikeouts (63) ... Set to oppose McCutchen, is Louisville starter Justin Lehr, who will be facing the Indians for the first time this season ... Last season Lehr made his only three career appearances against the Tribe including one start ... In the combined three outings the right hander went 1-0 and allowed only one run (1.08 ERA) on eight hits with three strikeouts in 8.1 innings against Indianapolis ... The 31-year old is currently the International League wins leader with 11 as he went 5-2 with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs before he was acquired by the Cincinnati Reds in a cash trade with the Philadelphia Phillies on May 23 ... Lehr, who is a 2009 IL All-Star selection, has been undefeated with a 6-0 record and a 1.88 ERA since joining the Bats in May. THE SNELL OF VICTORY: Scheduled to pitch for the Indians on the Fourth of July is RHP Ian Snell, who in his last start set a Victory Field record with his 17 strikeouts against Toledo on June 28 ... The 17 punchouts broke Steve Parris’ over 10-year old record of 16 strikeouts set back on April 28, 1998 against Charlotte and included a jaw-dropping 13 consecutive K’s following a lead-off walk ... The 13 consecutive strikeouts is the longest streak in baseball this season, three ahead of both Craig Clark (San Jose Giants) of the California League and Miguel De Los Santos (DSL Rangers 2) of the Dominican Summer League’s streaks of 10 in-a-row ... Snell’s 17 total punchouts are also the most in all of Minor League Baseball this season, ranking two better than Louisville’s former starter Homer Bailey’s total of 15 also against Toledo back on April 26 ... The right-handed Snell has also thrown a no-hitter at Victory Field as a member of the Indians ... On June 15, 2005 against Norfolk Snell allowed only one walk with nine strikeouts in nine scoreless innings en route to his only career no-hitter and the first no-hitter ever thrown at Victory Field ... The 27-year old went on to post an 11-4 record in his only other season with the Tribe in 2005 and was selected to the International League Mid-Season All-Star team as well as the MLB Futures Game. CLOSE CALLS: The Indians have been involved in many close contests recently as their last three losses have all been by one run and seven of their last ten defeats have been decided by just a single score ... In their past ten losses the Tribe has fallen by a combined 17 runs (1.7 runs per game average) ... The Tribe’s most recent two victories have also been by a single run as they defeated Toledo 2-1 on June 28th and again beat the Mud Hens 6-5 on June 29th ... So far this season the Indians are 11-16 (.407 winning pct) in games decided by one run, while last year they were a little bit better with a .456 winning percentage (26-31) in one run contests ... However, the Indians have already passed their 2008 season total with six walk-off wins this year, while they have allowed only three walk-off wins for opponents ... Last season the Tribe was involved in the most one-run games in all of Minor League baseball with a 26-31 record in one-run affairs ... Their 31 losses tied for the most in all of the Minor Leagues last season, while their 26 wins tied them for the most in the International League in 2008 ... Currently the Tribe’s 27 single-run games this year are ranked third in the International League behind Toledo and Pawtucket’s 28 one score contests. RELIEVING THE PRESSURE: The Tribe bullpen has excelled over the past month as they have posted a 2.45 ERA (26 ER in 95.2 IP) and collected 78 strikeouts since June 1 ... Relievers Chris Bootcheck (0 ER in 10.2 IP) and Mike Koplove (2 ER in 12.2 IP) have led the way for the Tribe relief corps as the duo allowed just two runs in a combined 23.1 innings pitched in the month of June ... The duo has quickly become one of the best one-two punches in all the IL as Bootcheck ranks tied for third in the League with 14 saves and Koplove ranks tied for ninth with seven holds ... Bootcheck also leads all hurlers in the IL, with at least 30 strikeouts, in strikeout to walk ratio with an 8 to 1 (48 SO vs. 6 BB) ratio, while also ranking eighth in the league with 30 appearances, behind Koplove who sits tied for third place with 31 appearances so far this season.
