FORWARDThe Qur'an is a Message from Allah (swt) to humanity. It was transmitted to us in a chainstarting from the Almighty Himself (swt) through the angel Gabriel to the ProphetMuhammad (saw). This message was given to the Prophet (saw) in pieces over a periodacross approximately 23 years. The Prophet (saw) was 40 years old when the Qur'an began to

be revealed to him, and he was 63 when the revelation was completed. The language of theoriginal message was Arabic, but it has been translated into many other languages later.

It is possible that a person may not intentionally lie; he may even be a person who makesgreat effort in ibaadah. No one ever hides evil within thyselves except that Allah (swt)makes it visible from his facial outlook and the statements his tongues utters.

On the Day of Judgment this would be very clear as Allah (swt) says:

And on the Day of rebirth you will see those who lied against Allah (swt) their faces will beblack. Is there not in Hell an abode for the arrogant ones? [39:60]

    Allah (swt) also said:

On the Day when some faces will become white and some faces will become black; as for thosewhose faces will become dark (to them will be said): "Did you reject Faith after accepting it?

Then taste the torment for rejecting Faith. [3:106]

If we examine the life of an average human, we come to realize that life consists of fourperiods. Childhood: This usually lasts for maximum thirteen to fourteen years. The teenageyears which usually lasts for six to eight years depending on when he gets married, (ThePeriod of Youth). The third part of his life is from the time he gets married until his old age, which usually lasts for merely twenty to thirty years, and then lastly his old age whose exacttime period cannot be said with certainty, depending on when death takes him.

This book is a set of verses of Al-Quran about Islam, Truth, Childhood, Youth, Married andDeath.

    May Allah (swt) bless us.

    Amen.

    Islam

The word Islam means "submission", or the total surrender of oneself to Allh (swt). An adherent of Islam is known as a Muslim, meaning "one who submits [to Allah]".The word Muslim is the participle of the same verb of which Islm is the infinitive. There are between 1 billion and 1.8 billion Muslims, making Islam the second-largestreligion in the world.

Islam is not a new religion, but the same truth that Allah (swt) revealed through allHis prophets to every people. For a fifth of the world's population, Islam is both areligion and a complete way of life. Muslims follow a religion of peace, mercy, andforgiveness, and the majority have nothing to do with the extremely grave eventswhich have come to be associated with their faith.

Muslims believe that Allah (swt) revealed the Qur'an to Muhammad (saw), Allah's(swt) final prophet, through the angel Gabriel and regard the Qur'an and the Sunnah(words and deeds of Muhammad (saw)) as the fundamental sources of Islam. Islamincludes many religious practices. Adherents are generally required to observe theFive Pillars of Islam, which are five duties that unite Muslims into a community. Inaddition to the Five Pillars, Islamic law (sharia) has developed a tradition of rulingsthat touch on virtually all aspects of life and society.

The word Islam is given a number of meanings in the Qur'an. In some verses (ayat),the quality of Islam as an internal conviction is stressed: "Whomsoever Allah desires

to guide, He expands his breast to Islam." Other verses connect islm and dn (usuallytranslated as "religion"): "Today, I have perfected your religion (dn) for you; I havecompleted My blessing upon you; I have approved Islam for your religion." Stillothers describe Islam as an action of returning to Allahmore than just a verbalaffirmation of faith. Another technical meaning in Islamic thought is as one part of aagreement of islam, imn (faith), and ihsn (excellence); where it represents acts ofworship (`ibdah) and Islamic law (sharia).

    The Five Pillars of Islam

The shahadah, which is the basic faith or theory of Islam: "ahadu 'al-l ilhaill-llhu wa 'ahadu 'anna muammadan raslu-llh", or "I swear that thereis none worthy of worship except Allah (swt) and I testify that Muhammad isthe Messenger of Allah." This evidence is a foundation for all other beliefs andpractices in Islam. Muslims must repeat the shahadah in prayer.

Salah, or prayer, which must be performed five times a day. Each salah is donefacing towards the Kaaba in Mecca. Salah is intended to focus the mind onAllah (swt) and is seen as a personal communication with him that expresses

    4

gratitude and worship. Salah is compulsory but flexibility in the specifics isallowed depending on circumstances. In many Muslim countries, reminderscalled Adhan (call to prayer) are broadcast publicly from local mosques at theappropriate times. The prayers are recited in the Arabic language, and consistof verses from the Qur'an.

Zakat: This is the practice of giving based on accumulated wealth, and isobligatory for all Muslims who can afford it. A fixed portion is spent to help thepoor or needy, and also to assist the spread of Islam. The zakat is considered areligious obligation (as opposed to voluntary charity) that the well-off owe tothe needy because their wealth is seen as a "trust from Allah's (swt) reward".

Sawm or fasting during the month of Ramadan. Muslims must not eat or drink(among other things) from dawn to sunset during this month, and must bemindful of other sins. The fast is to encourage a feeling of nearness to Allah(swt), and during it Muslims should express their gratitude for and dependence

on him, agreed for their past sins, and think of the needy. Sawm is notobligatory for several groups for whom it would constitute an undue burden.

TheHajj, which is the pilgrimage during the Islamic month of Dhu al-Hijjah inthe city of Mecca. Every able-bodied Muslim who can afford it must make thepilgrimage to Mecca at least once in his or her lifetime. When the pilgrim isabout ten kilometers from Mecca, he must dress in Ihram clothing, whichconsists of two white seamless sheets. Rituals of the Hajj include walking seventimes around the Kaaba, touching the Black Stone, running seven timesbetween Mount Safa and Mount Marwah, and symbolically stoning the Devil in

Mina. The pilgrim, or the hajji, is honored in his or her community, althoughIslamic teachers say that the Hajj should be an expression of commitment toAllah (swt) instead of a means to gain social standing.

In the holy Quran about Islam, Reward and fear of Allah (swt), Allah (swt) says:

Bala man aslama wajhahu lillahi wahuwa muhsinun falahu ajruhu AAinda rabbihi walakhawfun AAalayhim wala hum yahzanoona

2:112/ Yea, indeed: everyone who surrenders his whole being unto Allah (swt), and is a doerof good withal, shall have his reward with his Sustainer; and all such need have no fear, andneither shall they grieve.

But as forhim who denies the truth of Allah (swt)'s messages - behold, Allah (swt) is swift in reckoning!

And if they surrender themselves unto Him, they are on the right path; but if they

turn away - behold, thy duty is no more than to deliver the message: for Allah (swt) sees allthat is in [the hearts of] His creatures.

    Truth

The word truth has a variety of meanings, from honesty, good faith, and sincerity in general,to agreement with fact or reality in particular. There are differing claims on such questions aswhat constitutes truth; what things are truthbearers capable of being true or false; how todefine and identify truth; the roles that revealed and acquired knowledge play. Truth is astrange and powerful world. The truth of one's existence is a living, inward, and subjectiveexperience that is always in the process of becoming. The values, morals, and spiritualapproaches a person adopts, while not denying the existence of objective truths of thosebeliefs, can only become truly known when they have been inwardly appropriated throughsubjective experience. The human truth is something that is continually occurring, and ahuman being cannot find truth separate from the subjective experience of one's own existing, defined by the values and fundamental essence that consist of one's way of life.Allah (swt) the only true and we must believe of his creation and laws of Quran. Lets knowthe verses of holy Quran:

Alhaqqu min rabbika fala takoonanna mina almumtareena

2:147/ the truth from thy Sustainer! Be not, then, among the doubters:

Alhaqqu min rabbika fala takun mina almumtareena

usually the period between birth and 12 years of age. (The teenage years represent a timeduring which young people have one foot in Childhood and one foot in Adulthood). In thechildhood level every human is pure in heart and want to know about everything what isnew to him. So childhood is the best time to teach the children for knowing the truth of theworld and about Allah (swt) and his creation. So Allah (swt) said:

    Youth (the golden age)

The most crucial stage of his life is the period of youth. Youth is the period betweenchildhood and adulthood, described as the period of physical and psychologicaldevelopment from the onset of puberty to maturity and early adulthood. Definitions of thespecific age range that constitutes youth vary. An individual's actual maturity may notcorrespond to their chronological age, as immature individuals exist at all ages. This worlddemands the qualities of youth: not a time of life but a state of mind, a temper of the will, aquality of imagination, a predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite foradventure over the life of ease. Allah (swt) also likes the prayer of this age.

Now, this is that period of his life that if he was to control his desires a bit, and sacrifice a fewof these devilish desires, he can become a future role-model for Muslims. He can become aleader for his community, and the biggest achievement he can gain is success in the hereafter.

As being admitted into paradise, and being saved from the hell fire, is, in reality truly thegreatest success a person can gain. Allah has described this as a great success' in the HolyQur'an.

The reason why this period of human life is so important and crucial is because this period of

youth is generally what determines the way in which this period of his life is spent. If hespends this period of his life in an Islamic environment, visiting the Masjid for the five dailyprayers, associating with the pious people and the true scholars of Islam, sitting in theirgatherings, then, it is greatly hoped that he will spend the rest of his life in the same way.

On the other hand, if the youth stays away from the Masjid and doesn't associate himselfwith the pious and scholars of Islam, but spends his time visiting the pubs/clubs, associatinghimself with girls and mischievous people, then it is most likely that the rest of his life will bespent in a similar manner, away from the Masjid and away from Deen, except if Allah wishesotherwise.

Just like everything, life is also a gift from Allah and every aspect of it should be regarded asa gift and a trust from Allah. Allah expects us to spend this youth in His worship andobedience, seeking knowledge of Islam and acting upon it. This in itself is a form ofgratefulness.

In a Hadith, the Messenger of Allah (saw)said that the feet of the son of Adam will not beable to move until he is questioned regarding four things.

  • 8/9/2019 Indication of Qur'An

    35/62

Indication of Quran on childhood to Death(The absolute truth)

    35

Out of these four questions, one question asked will be regarding how one spent his time as ayouth. In another Hadith, the Messenger of Allah (saw) has said that on the Day ofJudgement, there are seven types of people to whom Allah will give shade to. It is stated inBukhari that on the Day of Judgement there will be no shade except for Allah's shade. Andfrom amongst these groups, one group will be those youth who spent their youth in the

    worship of Allah.

The reason being is because a youth has many desires, so whosoever goes against his desiresand controls them in this delicate period of youth, and obeys the command of Allah, and trieshis best to follow the Islamic Shariah, in such a time of his life when his desires are at theirpeak, then Allah will give him a great reward.

Therefore, the period of youth is a very delicate and important period in a Muslim's life. Ifspent in the right way his time as a youth will benefit not only himself but also others. Byvisiting the Masjid, attending the gatherings of the scholars of Islam and seeking their advice

and knowledge, serving one's parents and trying to carry out Allah (swt) orders to the best ofability then it is greatly hoped that one will grow up to become a leader of the Muslimcommunity and become the coolness of one's parents eyes. If wasted by continuouslycommitting sins, disobeying Allah's (swt) commands, then it is possible that on the Day ofJudgment Allah will reprimand him regarding this. Allah (swt) said:

Wayatoofu AAalayhim ghilmanun lahum kaannahum luluon maknoonun

52:24/ And they will be waited upon by [immortal] youths, [as if they were children] of theirown, [as pure] as if they were pearls hidden in their shells.

    Yatoofu AAalayhim wildanun mukhalladoona

56:17/ Immortal youths will wait upon them

Wayatoofu AAalayhim wildanun mukhalladoona itha raaytahum hasibtahum luluanmanthooran

    76:19/ And immortal youths will wait upon them: when thou seest them, thou wouldst deemthem to be scattered pearls;

    Marriage (The life mate)

Marriage is uniquely beneficial to society because it is the foundation of the family and thebasic building block of society.

It brings significant stability and meaning to human relationships It remains the ideal for the raising of children. It plays an important role in transferring culture and civilization into future

generations.Marriage is not merely a private contract, but a social institution of great public concern.

The Prophet (saw) was once asked, "What is more important than prayer?" He replied, "Thespirit of prayer" - the spirit that animates the prayer. He was asked what is more importantthan fasting - he replied, the spirit of fasting. For each question concerning an Islamic practisethe answer was the same - because the spirit brings the action to life and unfolds its

potentials. Without this animating spirit, the prayer is only movement, and the fasting onlyhunger. But when spirit enters, when a pure and concentrated intention enters, the action istransformed - the prayer gains the potential to become a miraj (an elevating spiritualjourney), and the one fasting approaches towards the potential to witness laylatul qadr (thenight of destiny - a night when blessings from the spiritual world descend to this world).

So what is more important than marriage? It is the spirit of marriage, the intention whichunderlies it, the treasures which it contains hidden within it but which must be brought outand realized by the married couple themselves.

Since "Allah created everything in pairs", as it states in the Qur'an, and since He "created the maleand the female from a single nature, from a single self", it is Allah (swt) that is the point ofreference for the married pair. "He has set up the balance..." of all things, so He is to be looked

for to set all things in the right equilibrium. If the two partners of a marriage set themselvesin correct relation to Allah (swt) then certainly a perfect balance will be realized within theirlives together.

In Islam, polygamy is allowed for men, with the specific limitation that they can only have upto four wives at any one time, given the religious requirement that they are able to andwilling to partition their time and wealth equally among the respective wives.

For a Muslim wedding to take place, the bride and her guardian must both agree on themarriage. Should either the guardian or the girl disagree on the marriage, it may not legallytake place. In essence, while the guardian/father of the girl has no right to force her to marry,he has the right to stop a marriage from taking place, given that his reasons are valid. Theprofessed purpose of this practice is to ensure that a woman finds a suitable partner whomshe has chosen not out of sheer emotion.

From an Islamic (Shari'Ah) law perspective, the minimum requirements and responsibilitiesin a Muslim marriage are that the groom provide living expenses (housing, clothing, food,

  • 8/9/2019 Indication of Qur'An

    37/62

    37

maintenance) to the bride, and in return, the bride must be a partner (sexually) to thehusband. All other rights and responsibilities are to be decided between the husband andwife, and may even be included as stipulations in the marriage contract before the marriageactually takes place, so long as they do not go against the minimum requirements of themarriage (for example: the woman marries the man with the condition that she will not sleep

    with him).

The qur'an provides the signposts and waymarks for learning about this potential. It says:

    Wed:

Wala tankihoo almushrikati hatta yuminna walaamatun muminatun khayrun minmushrikatin walaw aAAjabatkum wala tunkihoo almushrikeena hatta yuminoo walaAAabdunmuminun khayrun min mushrikin walaw aAAjabakum olaika yadAAoona ila alnnariwaAllahu yadAAoo ila aljannati waalmaghfirati biithnihi wayubayyinu ayatihi lilnnasi

7:189/ IT IS HE who has created you [all] out of one living entity, and out of it brought intobeing its mate, so that man might incline [with love] towards woman. And so, when he hasembraced her, she conceives [what at first is] a light burden, and continues to bear it. Then, when she grows heavy [with child], they both call unto Allah (swt), their Sustainer, "If Thouindeed grant us a sound [child], we shall most certainly be among the grateful!"

And donot, in order to gain some of the fleeting pleasures of this worldly life, coerce your [slave]maidens into whoredom if they happen to be desirous of marriage; and if anyone shouldcoerce them, then, verily, after they have been compelled [to submit in their helplessness],Allah (swt) will be much-forgiving, a dispenser of grace!

60:10/ O YOU who have attained to faith! Whenever believing women come unto you, forsaking the domain of evil, examine them, [although only] Allah (swt) is fully aware of theirfaith; and if you have thus ascertained that they are believers, do not send them back to thedeniers of the truth, [since] they are [no longer] lawful to their erstwhile husbands, and these

are [no longer] lawful to them. None the less, you shall return to them whatever they havespent [on their wives by way of dower]; and [then, O believers,] you will be committing no sinif you marry them after giving them their dowers. On the other hand, hold not to themarriage-tie with women who [continue to] deny the truth, and ask but for [the return of]whatever you have spent [by way of dower] -just as they [whose wives have gone over to you]have the right to demand [the return of] whatever they have spent. Such is Allah (swt)'s
