From the reception, to the restau-rant and spa, from our drivers to the porters...the customer service was exceptional! We had fabulous stay at this fabulous resort. The room (with a pool!) was fabulous, the food exceed-ed all expectations and, again, I can't emphasize enough how amazing the customer service was! We will be back and would suggest to anyone that they should enjoy this bit of heaven :-)

We came here for New Years and we're blown away by this place.

The restaurant is tiny, only 10 people all sitting up in a bar like setting over-looking the kitchen, although I believe they are expanding this next year to accommodate for larger numbers.

Everything was prepared to the high-est standard with more chefs in the kitchen than diners so it was a very personalised experience with the chef in charge of each dish personally

The island of Sumatra is in western Indonesia and home to over 50 million people. Mountains, volcanoes, rivers, mangroves, and swamps all combine to make Sumatra a stinning wilderness waiting to be discovered. Sumatra is often referred to as ‘The Africa of Asia’ due to its abundant natural attractions.

HIGHLIGHTS

SUMATRA

Located in central Sumatra, Lake Toba is 100 km long and 30 km wide and described as not only a lake, but a ‘super volcano.’ Often referred to as one of the world’s best natural wonders, Lake Toba is more like an ocean, perfect for reflection and relaxation. Hike, swim or sail the lake, or explore the island of Samosir in the middle of the lake complete with waterfalls and water buffalo. Enjoy local Batak hospitality or sample the local palm wine.

LAKE TOBA

Aceh is home to many beaches, national parks and the Orang-utan Rehabilitation Centre (one of the largest of its kind). Take a trek to Lhok Mata-le Bay, surrounded by rainforests. Visit the Central Pasar for unique market stalls, or take an emotional trip to the Tsunami Museum and the ‘Thanks to the World’ tsunami monument.

17 km from the township of Banda Aceh lie the beautiful beaches of Lampuuk and Lhoknga. Both beaches are quiet and perfect for surfing and swimming. Fresh fish barbecues are one of the highlights of the beaches, where the fish are fresh and plentiful. Explore the cliffs near Lampuuk where you’ll find a beautiful tropical forest. Lhoknga beach is perfect for exploring great local street food.

The EcoTravel Cottages are one of the cleanest and nicest places we've stayed in Indonesia. The staff is really doing a great job maintaining the cot-tages. The towels and bed sheets were always clean and smelling lovely. Everyone there is always smiling and making conversation. We felt like home. Really. And the breakfast was delicious! The view even better. We could see some monkeys and hornbill birds right from our breakfast table in the morn...

We have just spent New Year at the Deli River in a last minute three-night break from Singapore. It was our second trip to Sumatra, having been to lake Toba in '92 with our baby daughter. And we were not disappointed!!

Dirk and Diana couldn't have been more welcoming and Dirk even per-suaded us to go on the Hash, hiking through the jungle, lots of muddy climbs and laughs.

There seems to be a few different styles of the Nelayan group but all I have eaten at have been good although a little expensive is my thought. I noticed it looks like they are now doing Pizza at Medan Fair but does not look very appealing to me.
