About Hoskin

RentalsWe offer high quality, proven equipment that will provide the user with valuable data as well as numerous ways of retrieving, filtering and viewing that data. We carry a wide range of instrumentation, including: water quality, portable gas monitors, soil sampling instruments and more.

Rental Equipment:

Customer satisfaction is our goal and we make an effort to ensure that all our customers are satisfied with their rental. All rental instruments are cleaned and calibrated before being sent to the user (please note that we also require equipment to be returned clean). If a rental instrument requires recalibration, please return the instrument to us and we will recalibrate at no charge. Any instrument not functioning properly can be exchanged at no cost.

Hoskin Scientific offers technical support over the phone and can also provide hands on demonstrations.

We are constantly expanding and looking for new equipment to add to the rental inventory and welcome all suggestions.

For over seventy years, Hoskin Scientific has been a supplier of testing and monitoring instrumentation to the Canadian market. With offices in Vancouver, Oakville, and Montréal our customers are able to receive local sales and technical support in our three major departments.

Our Environmental Department provides solutions for monitoring and sampling biological and chemical parameters in the environment. Our team of environmental sales representatives and diverse product range guarantee that you will find the right products for your application. Specific areas include: water quality, water quantity, soil moisture, plant science, weather stations, indoor air quality, aquatic sampling, and oceanography.

Our Materials Testing Department offers testing equipment for soil, asphalt, petroleum, concrete and cement. Our qualified sales associates focus on providing a sophisticated range of testing equipment complying with the various test methods, ensuring that accurate and consistent test results are always obtained. Our Instrumentation Department focuses on a wide range of products including optical camera systems, transducers and transmitters, data acquisitions and loggers, signal conditioners and indicators, automation sensors and measurement systems. We have technical sales associates that are trained in various areas and willing to help you with your instrumentation requirements.

MX1101 Temperature/Relative Humidity Data Logger

The new HOBO MX1101 measures and transmits temp/RH data to mobile devices wirelessly via Bluetooth® Smart technology. The self-contained wireless data logger, which works with Onset’s free HOBOmobile app for logger setup and data management, enables you to access data anytime from your mobile device over a 100-foot range, and it requires no dedicated equipment beyond a mobile device for configuring the logger or reading out data.

UX100 Series Temp/RH Data Loggers

HM40 Series Hand-Held Humidity and Temperature Meter for Quick Inspections and Spot-Checking

The Vaisala HUMICAP® Hand-Held Humidity and Temperature Meter HM40 is compact and easy to use - ideal in wide variety of applications; from structural moisture control and air conditioning systems to industrial production processes and life science applications. Multiple calculated parameters are available: dew point, wet bulb temperature, absolute humidity, mixing ratio, and enthalpy.

Pocket Sling Psychrometer

• Sling Psychrometer for determining atmospheric humidity by the reading of two thermometers.

• Measures the wet and dry bulb temperatures of the surrounding air and permits conversion of the readings to a relative humidity percentage on the “slide rule” scale built into the case.

Psycho-Dyne Battery Operated Psychrometer

This portable psychrometer indicates wet and dry bulb temperatures for relative humidity and dewpoint determinations. Housed in a high-impact case, the unit consists of a pair of matched thermometers, magnetic fan motor, plastic water bottle, illuminating lamp, psychrometric slide rule, spare parts kit and manual. No whirling of the instrument is required to obtain readings.

A miniature fan provides constant air motion over the thermometers. Humidity is determined from the psychrometric tables included with the instrument. Three “D” cell batteries supply about 1000 operations.

Isuzu TH25R Precision Hygrothermograph

Housed as a single compact unit, this instrument is designed to conduct long-term observation.

HM70 Series Hand-Held Humidity and Temperature Meter for Demanding Spot-Checking Applications

The Vaisala HUMICAP® Hand-Held Humidity and Temperature Meter HM70 is a high-performance, portable humidity reference. It is also ideal for field checking and calibration of Vaisala’s fixed humidity instruments. The HM70 incorporates the latest generation of the Vaisala HUMICAP® Sensor. It is reliable and has better than ever long-term stability. The chemical purge option maintains measurement accuracy in environments with high concentrations of chemicals.

The UX90-002 monitors indoor light changes with an internal sensor and records light on and off conditions, making it ideal for building energy audits and light usage analysis.

MU-100 UV Integral Sensor with Handheld Meter

Apogee UV sensors incorporate a photodiode that measures combined UVA and UVB radiation. The MU-100 has a sensor integrated into the top of the housing while the handheld meter displays and stores measurements. The meter offers a setting to measure UV in µmol m-2 s-1 or Watts m-2.

MU-200 UV Separate Sensor with Handheld Meter

Apogee UV sensors incorporate a photodiode that measures combined UVA and UVB radiation. The MU-200 has a separate sensor while the handheld meter displays and stores measurements. The meter offers a setting to measure UV in µmol m-2 s-1 or Watts m-2.

The sensor housing design features a fully potted, domed-shaped head making the sensor fully weatherproof and self-cleaning.

UX90-005(M) Occupancy/Light Data Logger

The UX90-005 monitors room occupancy up to 5 meters away and indoor light changes to identify occupancy patterns and determine energy usage and potential savings.

AlphaGUARD Portable Radon Monitor

The new generation of AlphaGUARD offers high detection efficiency in radon monitoring, a wide measurement range (2 – 2 000 000 Bq/m³), fast response and permanent, maintenance-free operation with long-term stable calibration. In addition to the radon concentration, AlphaGUARD simultaneously measures and records ambiant temperature, relative humidity and atmospheric pressure with embedded sensors.

Optimal ergonomics, high responsiveness and a large digital display make AlphaGUARD a reference device to perform measurement and analysis everywhere from a lab to the field.

AlphaE Radon Monitor

AlphaE is a versatile device for fast radon monitoring in buildings, outdoors or mines. Due to its light-weight and small dimensions, it can also perfectly be used to measure the personal radon exposure and to manage personal dose.

In addition to the radon concentration, the air temperature, pressure and humidity as well as the signals of the built-in tampering detector are simultaneously recorded, all accompanied by respective time stamps.
