• Explore Living are part of the Laing O’Rourke Group, and

LOR want everyone involved with a LOR site to go home as

safe and healthy as when they arrive in the morning – if not

better!

• The LOR induction video will run for about 20 mins, and

explain some of the mandatory Health, Safety and

Environmental standards and requirements of Laing

O’Rourke and hence Explore Living.

end, with an 80% pass mark necessary to permit work on

site.

HealthDoes anyone have any medical condition that Explore Living

Management should be made aware of (eg: epileptic,

diabetic etc.) ?

Does anyone smoke ?

(Site rules and designated areas will be explained later).

“Pristine Condition”

Does anybody suffer, or previously suffered from, back pain ?

One of the key risk areas we are focussing on at the moment is

manual handling; the following preventative advice may

be helpful.

Site Rules Include:

PPE – mandatory requirement:: hat / hi-viz / boots / gloves / glasses

Specific tasks may require additional protection (eg grinding, cutting, welding…).

Specific risk assessment should specify details.

Clothing - No shorts or cropped trousers are allowed; legs must be covered at all times,

High Vis vests must not be cut down or worn around waist.

No Smoking - smoking is NOT permitted on site, except in designated areas by the satellite welfare unit and the

main compound. Similarly, eating / drinking is NOT permitted on site, except in designated welfare units.

Radios / mobile phones – NO radios or personal stereos are allowed on site.

Phones are not banned, but must be used responsibly.

Permits - If your task involves a naked flame of any kind, a ”Hot Works Permit” must be obtained, each day,

before work commences.

If your task involves excavation or entry into a “confined space” a permit is also required.

Electrical tools – must be regularly inspected and have proof of PAT testing.

Batteries can be charged using the charging station under the stairs to the office.

(Note: Explore Living cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage to equipment whilst using this facility)

110 volt transformers will be provided on each floor of the flats with connection points outside each entrance for

all to use.

All power requirements for the houses will be by generator supplied by the trade.

Leads must not be connected from the flats and run outside for power requirements.

Enforcement – Explore Living management adopts a ‘zero tolerance’ approach to compliance with site rules.

Where necessary, this will be enforced through the use of “Behavioural Incident” notices

Please also see the ‘Site Rules’ displayed on site notice board
