DR. B. Chandrasekaran, Ph.D., has been appointed as Director, CSIR – Central Leather ResearchInstitute (CSIR-CLRI). Prior to this, he was a Chief Scientist and as Chairman of the HRD Clusterof CSIR – CLRI in development of curriculum and vertical growth integrating the skills withlevels of education. He is a Leather Technologist and specializes in Cleaner Production withlevels of education. He is a Leather Technologist and specializes in Cleaner ProductionTechnologies, Leather Education, Leather product Design & Development, CAD Techniquesfor Leather Product Design, Organizational Development, Consultancy in R&D andOrganizational Excellence. His expertise lies in Inter- Institutional Cooperation and Global R&DConsultancy.

Dr. Chandrasekaran is the recipient of Kannammal Memorial Award for holding First Rank inthe M.Tech, Sulabh International Award and the AIMO Award. Dr. Chandrasekaran is the Vice-President of Indian Leather Technologist’s Association, and Life-Member, A.C. Tech Leatherand Footwear Association (ALFA), ISO – Leather, American Leather Chemists Association andInternational Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Society.

Dr. Chandrasekaran is the Project Coordinator for CSIR’S prestigious International Consultancyassignment in Ethiopia which focuses on capacity building of Leather industry DevelopmentInstitute (LIDI), Ethiopia and he is instrumental in negotiating for similar services in the metaland engineering sector in Ethiopia. He was also invited by the Ministry of Industrialization,Kenya as expert in assisting them formulate a project for establishing Integrated LeatherIndustrial Park at Nairobi.

I am 58 years old and working as a Professor in the Department of Anthropology, PondicherryUniversity, Puducherry. I am also functioning as Principal ( i/c ) of Pondicherry UniversityCommunity College, Puducherrry. I have started my teaching career as an Assistant Professorin St. Xavier’s College, Palayamkottai in the year 1987. I am one of the founding members ofthe Department of Folklore and FRRC. I have moved to PondicherryUniversity in the year2006. I have about 29 years of continuous PG teaching and Research experience. I teach thefollowing papers for the PG namely Research Methodology, Economic Anthropology, AppliedAnthropology, Anthropology of Complex societies, Visual and Communication Anthropologyetc. I was a Dean at St. Xavier’s College from the year 2000 to 2002. From January 2007 toAugust 2014 I was heading the Department of Anthropology, Pondicherry University. I wasalso functioning during 2013-14 as the Director and Head of UMISARC and Centre for SouthAsian Studies in Pondicherry University. In the year I was serving as the Dean of Studentswelfare at Pondicherry University.I am a member of various academic bodies in many of theCentral and state Universities of India.

I did my PG and doctorate in Anthropology from Madras University. I have done ethnographicresearch among tribes and peasants inSouth India. My doctoral thesis is on the ChangingPatterns of Economic and Political Structures in a Tamil Nadu village.My research areas ofinterest are caste, social stratification, tribal identity, anthropology of religion, ethnopoetics,ethnoscience etc. Thirty research articles and four books in Anthropology and Folklore havebeen published by me.I have successfully guided many M. Phil and Ph. D students. I havecompleted six research projects on Tribal Folklore, Ethnopoetics, Ethnopharmacognostics,Folk Artists, Folklore Bibliography, Social Conflicts and Rock Art sponsored by the FordFoundation, UGC, ICFRE, FOSSILS, IGNCA etc. At present I have undertaken a project onTraditional Water Management funded by the Dept.of Environment, Science and Technology,Govt. of Puducherry.

I am also functioning as an editorial board member for three academic journals.I am a memberof many professional bodies.Folklore Fellows,an international organization functioning fromTurku,Finland has been nominated me as an Associate Member.Indian Institute of AdvancedStudies,Shimla selected me as one of their visiting associates in the year 2000.In the year2002 I have received UGC Research Award and in the year 2004 I was selected as a FulbrightVisiting Lecturer to give lectures and do research in the US Universities. In the year 1995 and2003 I have been awarded with St. Xavier’s College Research Award consequently for threeyears. I have been awarded as Kalaimamani for my research contribution in the filed of FolkArts by the Govt. o of Puducherry in the year 2015. NCBH has awarded me for as the author ofthe Best book in the year 2007. Redcently Neyveli Lignite Corporation has awarded me for myoverall contribution in the field of Anthropological writings.

I have visited China, USA, Kuwait and Finland in connection with my various academic pursuits.

Mr. Srinivasan has started his carrier as Jr. Mechanic in a reputed private company in the fieldof refrigeration and air conditioning that entails erection and commissioning of centralisedAC and Chiller plants to DRDO Ordinance factory (Ministry of defence) during the period of1986 - 1990. Then, he joined in Gas Turbine Research and Establishment Production R &D Groupat DRDO Bangalore and worked in the position of SSA(1990-1993). Later, he changed his carrierfrom manufacturing to vocational instructor and worked at vocational training centre, Govt.of NCT of Delhi under Indo-Italian joint venture during 1993-2012. At that time, he was trainedby OEM companies of Italian machine tool trading and training (IM3T), and taughtComputerised Numerical Control Machine operation and programming

Since 2006, he has changed his profession into a highly motivated and results oriented scientistin the R&D sector of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), India. He managedhis own research group, interacted with various divisions, formulated new industrial designand participated in several skill development conventions. He has a proven track record ofproviding exemplary levels of service to a broad range of projects. Some of his notablecontributions in fabrication of parts for Atomic caesium clock for the safeguarding of Indianstandard time, development of rubidium clock sensor for ISRO which resulted during his tenurein National Physical laboratory, New Delhi. Currently, he has been working in CentralElectrochemical Research Institute, Karaikudi, TamilNadu and here he well utilized hisengineering skills and expertise in the development of electronic gadget assembly forcontinuous corrosion monitoring. Recently, he has been functioning with the latest cuttingedge additive manufacturing technique, so-called 3DMetal printing to make custom tailoredcomponents for various fields such as health care and medicine, aviation, Automotive,architecture and so on.
