Actaris manufacture an extensive range of
industrial gas meters in their factories in the
UK and Germany. The range encompasses
Diaphragm, RPD and Turbine technologies.
Actaris’ extensive experience and breadth of
technology allows users to select the most
suitable meter for a specific task, secure in
the knowledge that they are selecting from
meters whose performance is second to
none.
The site at Stretford, Manchester, has been
famous for the manufacture of high quality
diaphragm meters for many years, and the
“U” series meters are highly regarded
technically around the world.
Karlsruhe has equal fame for it’s “Rombach”
Diaphragm and Turbine meters, and is fast
growing a strong reputation for developing
the Delta RPD meters into a globally
recognised range.
Please contact Actaris Manchester for full
product information to cover the meters
reviewed in this document.
Diaphragm Meters
“Delta” RPD Meters
“Fluxi” 2000 TZ Turbine Meters
The “U” Series of diaphragm meters cover
flow rates from 0.04m /h to 160m /h.
Diaphragm meter technology gives long life,
accuracy and the ability to register very small
gas flows.
The Delta range of RPD meters can register
flow rates from 0.5m /h to 1000m /h.
Compact design with flexible measurement
performance over a wide range of loads
make these a popular “general purpose”
meter.
The Fluxi turbine meters are a low cost high
accuracy range and can be used in specific
installations for metering up to 6500m /h of
gas. These are primarily used for
applications where flow is constant or varying
within a range down to 1/20 of the
maximum flow rate.

Diaphragm MetersThe “U” Series of diaphragm meters cover flow
rates from 0.04m³/h to160m³/h. Diaphragm
meter technology gives long life, accuracy and
the ability to register very small gas flows. The
high performance of the modern Diaphragm
meter is due to a combination of the use of
proven materials technology, a stable design,
and diligence in manufacturing.
Fixed stroke measurement units lead to
enhanced measurement stability and accuracy.
This allows all calibration to be performed in
the index.
Modern materials and the latest moulding and
machining techniques mean that there is no
Fixed stroke measuring units
Life lubricated bearings
requirement for lubrication during the meters
normal operating life. In fact, there is no
routine maintenance requirement for the U
series meters.
A strong partnership with our suppliers means
that Diaphragms are manufactured to a
specification unique to UK requirements.
These diaphragms are designed to operate for
extended periods while exposed to the worst
that the gas network can deliver.
Radial valves constructed from low friction
materials give the U series exceptional low flow
accuracy, and deliver low pressure drop across
the whole flow range.

RPD Meters
The Delta range of RPD meters can register
flow rates from 0.5m³/h to1000m³/h. The
compact design and flexible measurement
performance over a wide range of load types
makes these a popular “general purpose”
meter. Meters are factory set for up, down,
left-to right or right-to-left flow direction, and
must be installed horizontally. Delta meters are
relatively insensitive to flow conditions, and can
be installed in small spaces with bends and
other features nearby in the pipework. The
use of a flexible connector is recommended in
installations with low metering pressure.
The MRA25A and MRA40A are the metric
successors to the recognised D0.8 and D1.5
meters. The Series 0 meters feature BS21
Series 0
DN40 screw connections which help to
facilitate low cost installation.
The models from 2” to 4” ( MRA100B to
MRA400D) share many components to
reduce cost and maximise flexibility. With
extruded aluminium bodies, an index with two
field-replaceable LF switches, and turndown
ratios of up to 200:1, these meters reduce any
unregistered gas and offer good network
performance and low maintenance costs.
Series 3 meters are the largest of the Delta
range. Tthe MRA650E and MRA1000E, being
metric equivalents of the D23 and D35 meter
offer a rugged approach to industrial metering.

The CORUS-PTZ Volume converter
range is EN12405 - compliant and will
operate with all LF-equipped meters.
The combination of reliable pulse
collection technology, PT1000
temperature sensing, precision pressure
sensors, and a 5 year battery life make
the Corus an accurate, reliable, cost-
effective solution for volume conversion
in both PT and PTZ applications.
The converter can provide pulse outputs
for use in external dataloggers, RS232
communications to modems, and 4-20
mA flow rate calculated from the LF
pulse rate.
No software is required to commission
the converter. All synchronisation and
pulse weight settings can be carried out
from the front panel, removing the need
for software and laptops for
commissioning.
*These meters are also available with “short” bodies: the DN150 (”E”) with 335 mm length,DN200 and 250 (”F” & “G”) with 400 mm length

“Fluxi 2000 TZ” Turbine MetersThe Fluxi range of turbine meters may be used
in specific installations for metering up to
6500m³/h of gas. These are used for
applications where flow is constant or varying
within a range down to1/20 of the maximum
flow rate.
Turbine meters are inferential meters. During
ioperation the flow of gas turns a turbine wheel
and the speed of rotation is proportional to the
linear speed of the gas. The motion of the
wheel is transmitted to the index via a
magnetic coupling.
A Fluxi 2000TZ turbine meter consists of 5
main components:
Main Body containing the flow and turbine
components
Flow straightener to accelerate and
stabilise the gas flow
Measuring unit including Turbine Wheel
Magnetic coupling to transfer the motion
of the turbine wheel
Index to register the volume of Gas.
