is a flexible, solid woven, asbestos based friction material made from asbestos

yarn, spun around brass wire, which contributes considerably to its strength.

WA-8 has a medium/high co-efficient of friction combined with moderate

temperature and wear resistance. WA-8 is available in roll form. Segments, Cones

and special shapes can easily be cut from it. Being a flexible material, it is

possible to form it to radius when fitting it. Forming can be made easier by placing

the material in an oven at a temperature of not more than 100°C (212°F) until it

has heated throughout to soften the impregnant. WA-8 is designed solely for use

under dry conditions (i.e. it is not suitable for use in oil).

WA-8 can also be supplied with both surfaces ground.

APPLICATIONS :-

Industrial band and drum brake Linings ;Industrial band, plate and cone

clutch linings (eg. cranes, lifts, excavators .winches, concrete mixers, drop

hammers, mine widening appliances, underground haulages, tippers, oil well

draw works, road rollers, sugar mill centrifuges), certain heavy road transport

vehicles and tractors.

NOTE :-The continuous temperature quoted is for constant slip conditions. For intermittentapplications, bulk temperatures of 160°C are acceptable for long periods.

RECOMMENDED MATING SURFACE :-Good quality fine grained pearlitic cast iron. Cast steel is not a suitable matingsurface but forged or cold rolled steel with a Brinell hardness of 200 or moremay be used.

DESIGN VALUE :-The co-efficient of friction for design should be based upon the graph, the severityof application and maximum anticipated operating temperature being taken intoaccount. Normal engineering practice should be followed in applying anappropriate safety factor to torque requirements of brake / clutch units.

MACHINING DETAILS :-High speed steel tools are recommended for use with this material.

Co-efficient of Friction for Design Purpose : 0.35

Is a flexible, solid woven asbestos based friction material made from yarn, spun

content. It is primarily intended for use under oil immersed conditions, but can also

be used dry.

When in use for an oil-immersed application, should the supply of lubricant fail, WA-

10 will continue to function and avoid immediate failure of the unit. It is available in

Roll lining form only.

WA-10

is a semi- rigid non-metallic, woven asbestos friction material bonded by a high

temperature impregnant to give it enhanced mechanical strength and good

antifade and wear properties.

The material is sufficiently flexible to accommodate small changes in radius

and to make it suitable for use as a band lining. The impregnant does not

soften when heated and large changes in radius should not be attempted.

WA-42 is available in liner and roll form and is suitable for use under dry operating

conditions (i.e. it is not suitable for use in oil).

APPLICATIONS :-

General purpose automotive drum brakes, Industrial Drum Brakes, Industrial

band brakes and clutches (on e.g. excavators, cranes, lifts, electro-magnetic

brakes), drive shaft transmission brakes, miscellaneous friction devices.

BONDING :-

WA-42 may be bonded with suitable bonding adhesive. For best results

thermosetting adhesives are recommended. The lining surface should be

prepared for bonding by grinding, shot blasting, linishing etc.

Supplied in rolls of approximately 15 metres (50 ft.), for thicknesses

4.763 mm (3/16") and 6.4 mm (1/4") and in rolls of approximately

7.5 meters (25 feet) for thicknesses 7.9 mm (5/16"), 9.5 mm (3/8")

and 12.7 mm (1 /2"). The widths available are from 25.4 mm (1") to

177.8 mm (7").

CR-2is a flexible moulded, non-metallic friction material, light grey or brown in color

and having a random fibre asbestos base. It is available in roll and strip form and

is suitable for use under dry operating conditions only (i.e. it is not suitable for

use in oil).

Although having a high friction level, CR-2 is silent in operation with excellent

temperature and wear resistance. Being ground on both surfaces, CR-2 is

Perfect for bonding on either surface as well as for attaching with rivets.

APPLICATIONS :-

Scooter and moped drum brakes and clutches, automotive drum brakes, industrial

drum brakes, industrial band brakes, excavator brake and clutch band linings.

GoldCompo Gold is a semi flexible Asbestos free brake lining manufactured from a solid

woven fabric using manmade mineral fiber and natural fiber yarns incorporating brass

wire inclusion.

The woven fabric is impregnated with specially developed synthetic resin using a

specialized impregnation process, which ensures a uniform resin application through

out the constructed woven surface. This specialized process and construction of

woven fabric enables the material to have a stablised friction value over a wide

temperature range of application and excellent antifade and resistence to wear

properties. This material is available in roll form having both surfaces ground, making it

suitable for bonding and riveting to either internal or external expanding braking

systems. It is a most efficient general purpose brake lining suitable for use on most

applications, including winches, cranes, earth moving, agricultural equipment, forging

machinery and many others..

material made from yarn, spun around brass wire. It is solely intended for use under

Dry conditions. WAF 18 has a medium / high co-efficient of friction with moderate

temperature and wear resistance. It is available in Roll form only. Special shapes

can easily be cut from it. Forming can be made easier by placing the material in an

oven at a maximum temperature of 100°C (212°F).

WAF 18 is supplied In unground condition.

The bonding temperature with aluminium diecasting and mildsteel material is 180°C to 240°C for 45 minutes to 1 Hour using static / conveyor hot air circulating oven. Proper preparation of the bonding surface like shot blasting /vapour degreasing and adhesive coating is required.HC AF 10/11 is supplied ground on both the surfaces, so that it can be bonded on either surface as required without any further preparation.

Is a clutch facing material having a non – metallic woven asbestos base impregnated with an

infusible bond which gives it good durability and resistance to fade. It possesses a medium

coefficient of friction and is capable of satisfactory performance under reasonably high clutch

temperatures.

It is recommended for general engineering requirements where exigencies of exceptional

flange width or other dimensions force the adoption of facings in two or more segments. It is

intended for use under dry conditions of operations. It is available in flat sheet form.

APPLICATIONS INDUSTRIAL CLUTCHES:-

General engineering application. Tractor main engine clutches.

CLUTCH DESIGN :

The applied load in a clutch is not transmitted as efficiently as in a brake and the full

effective torque radius is not always developed. It is usual, therefore, to use a lower

design friction value for a clutch than for a brake with similar torque characteristics.

The coefficient of friction for design should be based upon severity of the application

and the maximum anticipated operating temperature. Normal engineering practice

should be followed in applying an appropriate safety factor to the torque

requirements of the unit.

Is a clutch facing material having a woven asbestos base with metallic inclusions in the form of

brass wire. It is impregnated with an infusible bond capable of withstanding reasonably high

clutch temperatures. It has a medium coefficient of friction, combined with good resistance to

temperature and wear.

WASM-80 is intended for use under dry operating conditions and is available in flat sheet form.

CLUTCH DESIGN :

A friction clutch should be capable of transmitting without slip, the maximum torque

that can be applied to it once the clutch is fully engaged. The applied load in a clutch

is not transmitted as efficiently as in brake and the fully effective torque radius is not

always developed. This should be borne in mind when selecting the design co-

efficient of friction, also taking into account the severity of the application and

maximum operating temperatures of clutch surface. Normal engineering practice

should be followed in applying an appropriate safety factor to the torque

requirements of the unit.

It possesses high mechanical strength together with a medium co efficient of friction

and a low rate of wear. It is suitable for either dry or under oil immersed conditions.

CM-11 is available in flat sheet form. Gear tooth can be cut from CM-11 with normal

gear cutting facilities.

TECHNICAL DATA :-

Is a rigid moulded friction material, slate grey in colour, having a random fibre

asbestos base and containing metallic inclusions in form of brass chippings. It is

available in flat sheet form and is suitable for use either dry or in oil immersed

applications.

CM-16 possesses high mechanical strength together with a medium coefficient of

friction and a low rate of wear. It machines well and discs can be gear-cut on the

circumference, for use in multi-plate, clutches. When used in oil, the coefficient of

friction is reduced considerably as the curves show. The friction level in oil can be

Is a rigid moulded non asbestos friction material which is mottled slate

Grey in appearance, having random organic fibre base and containing

metallic inclusions in the form of brass chippings. It is available in flat

sheet form only and is suitable for use in either dry or in oil immersed

applications. HCAF 216 GG possesses high mechanical strength together

with a medium co-efficient of friction and low rate of wear. It machines well

and discs can be gear-cut on the circumference, for use in multiplate

clutches. When used in oil, the co-efficient of friction reduces

considerably from 0.32 to 0.17 level. The friction level in oil can be

influenced by the presence of or lack of suitable grooving pattern. This

material is suitable for use at medium to heavy levels of duty.

Is one of the ‘COMPO’ range of Non asbestos friction materials, it is rigid

moulded product, dark grey in colour and having short filaments of Steel

and non-metallic Substances in a random dispersion and uses a specially

developed resin as matrix which contributes to both the strength and

performance of material. This material is produced only in flat sheet form

and suitable for use under dry or oil immersed operating conditions HCAF

211 GG has medium friction with excellent fade and wear resistance. It

machines well and suitable for use at a variety of duty levels, yielding

consistent performance characteristics. This material is manufactured

with ground finish on both surfaces, so may be bonded on either side.

Is asbestos based rigid moulded material black in colour & which is a composition of fibre as carier, lubricants, heat resistence colours, special phenolic resin & fillers. SPECIAL FEATURES OF HCL LS-30 RING (ASBESTOS)

When Compestos LS-30 ring is used for sliding purpose, there is minimum generation of heat in that area due to excellent self lubrication property. This helps to improve the life of thrust bearing inturn helps in retaining water film between disc & segmented plate which decides performance of pump.
