How it works:

Features■ Versatile: The flexible impeller

pump combines the primingfeatures of positive d i s p l a c e m e n ttype pumps with the generaltransfer ability of centrifugals. Itwill pump either thin or viscousliquids and can handle moresolids in suspension than othertypes of rotary pumps. Thepump can be mounted at anyangle and will pump in eitherdirection with equal efficiency.

■ Self-Priming: Pumps instantlywith dry suction lifts up to 10ft(3m) and up to 25ft (8m) whenwetted.

■ Simplicity: One moving part - atough, long-life, wear-resistantflexible impeller.

■ Flexibility: The flexible impellerpump offers both high flow andhigh pressure according tomotor and impeller design.

Good Pumping PracticePipe runs should always be kept as short and straight as possible. Plumbing should

always be reinforced, non-collapsible hose of the recommended size. Electric pumps

should always be installed in a dry, well ventilated position as close to the liquid to

be pumped as possible. Flexible impeller pumps must not be run dry. Mount flexible

impeller pumps so that some liquid is left in the pump body when the pump is shut

off. This will prolong impeller life and speed priming.

3 Flexible impeller bladescreate a nearly perfectvacuum for instantself-priming.2 As the impeller rotates, each

successive blade draws in liquid andcarries it from intake to outlet port.

1 As the flexible impellerblades contact the offsetcam they bend with asqueezing action thatprovides a continuous,uniform flow.

How it works:

3 Centrifugal pumps mustbe either initially primedor mounted in such away that liquid ispermanently available atthe inlet port (eg.submersible pumps).2 The volute casing discharge

arrangement convertsvelocity energy into staticpressure.

1 The rotating impeller gives velocityenergy to the liquid moving it tothe periphery of the volute casingand towards the discharge port.

■ Simplicity: There are few movingparts to replace. The rotor,vanes and seal are lubricated bythe liquid being pumped. Fullaccess to the pump head can begained by loosening 3 screws.

■ Versatile: An excellent compactunit for general utility ortransfer applications that willpump thin or somewhat viscousliquids, and can be mounted atany angle and run in eitherdirection.

Use Neoprene for water and general purposepumping. Use Viton for hydrocarbons and most solvents. Optional EPDMstandard and high pressure impeller kits 7614-0002 and 8980-0002 forhygienic applications and some keytone solvents. Use Tungsten Carbide sealwhen pumping highly corrosive or abrasive fluids. Do not pump gasoline orother flammable liquids. Motor is not explosion proof. DO NOT RUN DRY.

For pumphead only models (30510-3xxx) select NEMA 56C Frame C-Facemotor rated at 3/4 hp at 1750 RPM with appropriate service factor. Motormust handle high axial loads. Porta-Quick Oil Change System

■ “Porta-Quick gives you quick, easy and clean oil changes with the flip of

a switch.”

■ It removes oil and sludge through the dipstick tube making engine oil

changes quick and easy without getting under the engine.

■ The oil changer comes with a 40" dipstick probe and a female garden

hose connector to attach the suction hose directly to dipstick tubes

supplied with male garden hose threads. Reversible pump allows

the container to be emptied neatly and easily reversing the flow

direction and pumping the container dry.

■ Built-in retractable pour spout is also provided. Pump is powered by

the vehicle battery and comes with an 8 ft cord and alligator clips. To

operate, simply connect the power cable to the vehicle battery. Then,

with a flick of the switch, pump drains crankcase oil into the 14 quart

Porta-Quick bucket.

Drum Pumps

Heavy duty motor has extra large handle for work with gloved hands. 20 ft

power cord with grounded 3 prong plug. Power switch guard prevents

inadvertant operation. Built-in circuit breaker is reset by toggling the power

switch to off, then on. Optional Low Voltage Safety Shut-Off (LV) sets

motor to "OFF" if power is lost. Motor will not turn on unexpectedly if

power is restored after a power failure. Toggle power switch to restore nor-

mal operation. Self-aligning motor coupling makes pump tube easy to

Quad Sensor VSD

Solid State microcontroller and firmware allow VSD pumps

to provide constant pressure within their pumping range

regardless of the number or size of nozzles operating at any

time. Simulates a constant city-water-pressure type supply.

Soft-start feature prevents splash. Unlike conventional

pumps, the VSD is very quiet and draws very little current

at low flow rates. Handles variable tip nozzles from full flow

to shut off as well as multi-nozzle spray bars. VSD

automatically shuts off if supply voltage falls below 8 volts

to protect the vehicle battery.

self-priming capability. Pumps can be located above the

supply tank. Suction-side foot valve is recommended for

best operation. Liquid pressure is regulated by supply air

Flangemount BlowerFlangemount Blowers are generally mounted with discharge port fastened directly to a flat

external surface to minimize required ducting. The inlet port can then be connected with

duct hose to the area requiring ventilation. Standard models are rated for intermittent

service, 15 minutes maximum. Commercial duty models are rated for continuous service.

Do not use where flammable vapors are present. Explosion and death

can occur.

Flexmount BlowerFlexmount blowers have both inlet and outlet ports designed for slip-on flexible duct

connections. They are ideal when an in-line installation is preferred. The blower may be

rotated in the mounting bracket to orient the discharge port in any direction. Standard duty

blowers are rated for intermittent service, 15 minutes maximum. Commercial duty models

Flexible Impeller CompoundsJABSCO flexible impellers are available in the following materials:

1. NEOPRENE is the standard impeller material used in mostflexible impeller pumps. It offers a wide range of chemicalresistant properties. Temperature range: 45°F to 180°F.

2. NITRILE impellers offer compatibility with oil products. Ithandles a wide range of oils, oil and water emulsions, dieselfuel, lower fraction hydrocarbons, kerosene, lubricating andmachine cutting oil. Lower temperatures affect primingability and performance characteristics. Generally, nitrileperformance is 10% below that of neoprene.Temperature range: 50°F to 180°F.

3. VITON impellers are recommended when pumpinghydrocarbons, solvents and severely corrosive chemicals. Viton is not recommended for low temperature or highpressure applications. Temperature range: 60°F to 180°F.

4. SANITARY NEOPRENE impellers are used in hygienic flexibleimpeller pumps for applications pumping food, beverage andpharmaceutical products.Temperature range: 45°F to 165°F.

5. N ATURAL RUBBER impellers are used in cold water applications.Temperature range: 22°F to 120°F.

6. SANITARY EPDM impellers are used for elevated temperaturehygienic applications to 185°F. EPDM is compatible withsome ketone solvents.Temperature range: 60°F to 185°F.

Trouble Shooting 1Symptoms ■ End faces hard and either polished

or cracked, like carbon.

■ Some or all blades completely missing.

Cause ■ Dry running, lack of liquid in pump.

■ Temporary suction blockage.

■ Leaking suction plumbing.

Remedy ■ Do not run pump for more than 20seconds without liquid.

■ Install a liquid sensor/temperature alarm.

■ Check suction plumbing, strainers, andfittings for blockages and leakage.

■ Arrange discharge plumbing to trapliquid in the pump.

Trouble Shooting 2

Symptoms ■ Pieces missing from the middle of blade tips.

■ Blade edges are hollowed out.

■ Pitting is evident on cam and the inside ofpump ports, and on endsof impeller.

Cause ■ Cavitation, i.e. too much vacuum on inletis causing water to boil inside pump.

Remedy ■ Reduce pump speed.

■ Increase inlet plumbing diameter.

■ Reduce inlet plumbing length and removeunnecessary restrictions.

■ Reduce cam thickness.

Trouble Shooting 3Symptoms ■ Worn blade tips, cam imprint on edges.

■ Worn end faces.

■ Worn impeller drive and shaft wear.

Cause ■ Abrasive wear from fluid in pump.

■ Heat exchanger/cooler blockage.

■ High discharge pressure.

Remedy ■ Check discharge plumbing for partialblockages.

■ Increase discharge pipe diameter.

Trouble Shooting 4Symptoms ■ Impeller appears to have swollen.

■ Blades appear wider than impeller hub.

■ Rubber may feel sticky.

Cause ■ Chemical attack, more common with oilybilge water or diesel transfer.

Remedy ■ Ensure impeller is rinsed after use.

■ Remove impeller when not in use.

■ Remove impeller for long term storage.

Trouble Shooting 5

Symptoms ■ Blades have some or severe permanent set.

Cause ■ Normal use of impeller.

■ Long term storage in pump.

■ Normal end of impeller life.

Remedy ■ Refit impeller to rotate inopposite direction.

■ Remove impeller for long term storage.

■ Replace impeller.

Trouble Shooting 6

Symptoms ■ Blades cracked about half way up thelength.

■ Some of blades missing.

■ Reduced flow.

Cause ■ Normal end of impeller life.

■ High discharge pressure.

Remedy ■ Replace impeller, check for impeller piecesin discharge plumbing.

■ Reduce outlet restrictions or increaseoutlet plumbing diameter.
