Variantic® is a PVD coating designed for use on carbide cutting tools, HSS and other steels below 450°C. In addition, Variantic® is ideal for high speed machining of hardened steels.
Its nanolayered structure consists of a TiCN layer that is high in oxidation resistance, excellent feature for machining at high temperatures (up to (1470°F)). Variantic® coating also has a low coefficient of friction; an ideal attribute for a longer tool life.

Duplex Treatment / Plasma NitridingDuplex-Treatment is a combination of plasma nitriding and PVD coating deposition processes. The plasma nitriding augments the surface hardness of the steel, which allows for increased performance of the PVD coating. Furthermore, its unique chemical composition allows for a thicker coating layer with superior adhesion.
