Save Time on the Move

ChaseMill Gets Thicker Higher Positive Helix Angle

ime is precious. And where work is concerned, time is money. Keeping T this philosophy in mind, Brother

PT-H105 has been designed by Brother. A dream of a product, it enables customers to create labels in seconds of different sizes and length without having to go through a computer.

TaeguTec's ChaseMill line is introducing a new insert featuring a higher positive helix angle cutting edge in a variety of grades.

The APKT 1706 focuses on productivity due to its smooth machining on all materials used in general applications, heavy and automotive industries.

Its noticeable difference over the APKT 1705 is its almost 1 mm difference in thickness making it a stronger insert that enhances the already robust machining capabilities the line is known for on all materials.

The insert's higher positive helix angle of 13 degrees achieves smoother machining than previous similar tools.

In keeping with the line's focus on economical smart machining, the APKT 1706 is compatible with the ChaseMill's current line of APKT 1705 cutters and holders making it a perfect choice as an upgrade without having to spend a lot of money on additional tools.

The Brother PT-H105 is a compact, portable label printer that can be used conveniently either at the office or on the move. The handheld device increases efficiency by ensuring that items from bookshelves and files to cables and patch panels are clearly identified. The PT-H105 is an evergreen product which can be used at shops, offices as well as other places of work.

The PT-H105 prints on durable laminated tapes and prints labels with sizes ranging from 6 mm to 12 mm. The printer comes with a special Auto Design and Deco mode functions that help in designing creative labels. With a fast 20 mm per second print speed, the printer comes with 9 character styles, 178 symbols and 7 frames to print labels.

The special Brother P-touch labels are laminated, consisting of seven layers of materials, resulting in a thin yet extremely strong label. The thermal transfer ink is

Case studies on an SCM4 work piece showed that the APKT 1706 tool life increased by 27% over a similar offering.

placed between two protective layers of PET (polyester film), which protects the text against the effects of liquids, abrasion, temperature, chemicals and sunlight. With a wide variety of tape cassettes in various widths and colors, the P-touch H105 is all set to become a must-have device at offices and industry work places.

Sandeep Mishra, a Maintenance Engineer for a reputed company, has a dozen of things on his plate. As he rushes from site to site, his ever handy tool box is always with him. One new addition to his kit has been the Brother PT-H105. He says “It's perfect for my daily work. The labels are easily printable and the best thing is that these labels are durable, withstand any element and last for more than 4 years. An absolute life saver.”

Warrior Professional Gear: The New Generation Safety Shoe from the house of Liberty

Understanding the needs of the time. Feeling the pulse of the market & respond-ing to it in the most adequate fashion. That has been the key to Liberty Shoes' evolution as the country's leading footwear manufac-turer. The company is constantly taking path-breaking initiatives which have changed the contours of the footwear industry.

Till about 10 years ago, India used to import Safety Shoes for workers function-ing in challenging environments where they were exposed to the hazards of slippery floors, acids, heavy falling objects, excessive ground heat, electric shocks and sharp falling objects.

To put an end to this unnecessary drain on the country's precious foreign exchange, Liberty, as India's largest manufacturer of PU footwear & pioneer of introducing PU Technology into Indian market, took the initiative to develop an all-terrain profes-sional gear for the feet as per Euro Safety Norms (EN-345) & IS 15298 2002 (Part I & II). The footwear was tested and certified by PFI Pirmaseans of Germany and approved by Footwear Design and Development Institute, Government of India.

Aptly called Warrior, for the way it conquered the hazards of all terrains, it was created using Liberty Shoes' patented Humantech process and bringing together the best from around the world. The upper, made from superior leather as per German standard (DIN S3), has a minimum thickness of 2 mm. It is breathable, durable and also water resistant for up to 60 mins.

Complete toe protection from heavy falling objects is provided by the German ESJOT alloy toe caps. There is plenty of toe room and so there is no discomfort or fatigue even after long hours of use. The toe caps are tested for energy level of 200 joules.

Italian antistatic insole of 2 mm are used that protects the feet from electric currents ranging between 100 KG Ohms and 1000 Mega Ohms by ensuring static charges developed due to friction between the foot and the leather get automatically discharged to the earth. The outsole comes in two colors and is made of dual density polyure-

thane (soft mid sole of 0.45 GMS/CC and outsole of 1-1.20 GM/CC) that makes it extra light, flexible and durable. It is hard (60-65 Shore A), antistatic as well as oil, water, acid, alcohol and abrasion resistant.

On specific request, a steel insole is provided to protect the feet from sharp objects like nails, etc.

Warrior Professional Gear, molded in 2 different styles - low neck and high neck (ankle) designs, is today widely used by people in different areas of activity; in airports, chemical industry, construction business, defence services, heavy engineer-ing, hotel, mining and railways among others.

The corporate ethos that the safety of the workers cannot be compromised has led to Warrior being accepted as standard safety norm in top organizations including ONGC, Hyundai, LG, HAL, NTPC, Eicher, Reliance Industries, Tata Motors, Ford, BMW, Toyota, Mercedes Benz, Indian Oil, Port of Chennai, Escorts, Indian Railways, Indian Army, Indian Air Force, Jet Airways, SAIL, Wipro, UB Group, Nestle, Power Grid among others.

Warrior Brand is now a decade old established name with more than 1,400 satisfied Govt./PSU/Private Corporates & Industries of the country.

It was a chest-puffing moment when Warrior having done its detailed market survey & Design R&D, anticipated the growing ladies workforce in the Indian Industry & introduced Warrior Ladies Safety Shoe for the first time almost two years ago. Today, the company is more than proud to be the only brand manufacturing Ladies Safety Shoe for the Indian Industry.

Recently, the company has expanded its product portfolio while introducing the process of developing Nitrile PVC Safety footwear. These Safety Shoes are made of genuine leather using direct Nitrile rubber vulcanized process to provide a comfort-able world class product.

What's more, it is not just in India, Warrior Professional Gear has acquired a sound footing even in the overseas market. The company aims to penetrate a larger market share with more reach & range. To know more visit: www.warrior.co.in

Dock Levelers from Gandhi Automations Pvt Ltd

For more information contact: To know more visit:

[email protected]

Dock Levelers offered by Gandhi Automations are not only “a bridge for connecting a vehicle”, but also facilitate fast, smooth and safe transition by compensating the difference in heights between the loading bay and the vehicle

Gandhi Automations Pvt Ltd is India's leading Entrance Automations and Loading Bay Equipment Company. This widely recognized position has been achieved over years of hard work, innovat ion, commitment to quality and reliable customer service. The company is also proud to be certified to ISO 9001:2008. Since its inception in 1996, the company has b een ma nu f a c tu r i n g , imp o r t i n g , distributing and installing products that are problem free and easy to operate.

The company offers complete logistics solutions by providing Dock Levelers, Dock Shelters, Sectional Overhead Doors and Dock Houses.

Electro-hydraulic, mechanical and air-powered Dock Levelers offered by Gandhi Automations are not only “a bridge for connecting a vehicle”, but also facilitate fast, smooth and safe transition by compensating the difference in heights between the

loading bay and the vehicle. This contributes to minimizing energy used and savings on heating and chilling costs resulting in maintaining the quality of the transported goods. Dock Levelers offered by Gandhi Automations are designed as per EN 1398 standard for the most demanding loading and unloading operations. Efficient loading & unloading the goods

The importance of efficient loading of goods has always been evident, and it has increased over the years, essentially for two reasons: the lesser availability and the higher cost of manpower. Consequently, lesser qualified manpower is being utilised which leads to damage in the goods.

The cost of loading and unloading the goods can be calculated precisely and is exactly definable, which allows for a scientific approach to find out the investment that goes into the process. Gandhi Automations has always designed

solutions based on such scientific approach and feedback from clients. The Dock Levelers offered by the company ensure loading and unloading with lesser effort and minimal cost.

It is possible to load and unload your products in a safe way and in the process obtain remarkable energy savings. The loading bay remains with the Dock Leveler in rest position and the Sectional Overhead Door closed, until the vehicle is positioned. The driver drives back centring to the Dock Shelter and stops the vehicle the moment it gets in contact with the bumpers.

The Sectional Overhead Door is then opened only when the vehicle is positioned, brakes applied and engines shut off. This eliminates the exit of hot air, intake of cold air (or the opposite in hot and inside conditioned places) and intake of exhausting gases in the warehouse. After the Sectional Overhead Door opens, the lip of the Dock Leveler connects to the truck bed for loading / unloading to take place.

At the end of the loading/unloading the Dock Leveler is put in rest position and the Sectional Overhead Door is closed, without moving the vehicle. The vehicle then departs at the end of the process.

Radius Lip Dock Levelers allow the dock to connect with the truck-bed, thus making it possible to drive directly on and off with fork-lift trucks, roll containers etc. Loading and unloading operations become quick, safe and economical.

Telescopic Lip Dock Levelers are ideal for connecting vehicles that cannot travel to the dock (e.g. sea containers, side loading railway wagons etc.), These types can be supplied with a lip extending up to 1 m.

Gandhi Automations’ Dock Levelers are equipped with the most secure safety devices and accessories.

CX8000 Embedded PC series with extended master functionality

With the CX8030 and CX8050 Embedded PCs, Beckhoff is extending its CX8000 series of ultra compact PC-based controllers with PROFIBUS and CANopen masters. These flexible devices represent inexpensive, space-saving solutions for universal use in control applications that require fieldbus master functionality

I t was already possible to implement fieldbus master functionality with a CX8000 series Embedded PC that has

an integrated fieldbus slave in combination with an additional EtherCAT master terminal. With the CX8030 and CX8050 this function is now available for PROFIBUS or CANopen – already integrated directly in compact Embedded PCs.

The CX8030 and CX8050 Embedded PCs are ideally suited to connect any fieldbus slave, from valve terminals to drives, in small to medium-sized machine applications. Furthermore, they can be used as gateways between EtherCAT slave devices as well as devices with a conven-tional slave interface such as PROFIBUS or

CAN, as well as for coupling of machine controllers to a higher-level Ethernet infrastructure.CX8030: In addition to normal data exchange, the PROFIBUS master also supports DPV1 communication. As a further feature, the master interface can also be configured as a slave interface if necessary. A simple PROFIBUS monitor for the CX8030 is available in the TwinCAT System Manager for diagnostic purposes.Cx8050: The CX8050 can operate as a CANopen master and also as a “simple” CAN master. In this case CAN 2.0A and CAN 2.0B are supported, i.e. 11-bit or 29-bit identifier. This means that all CAN applications and CAN devices that are commonly used can be addressed and

networked with the CX8050. A simple CAN monitor is available for diagnostics.Technical properties

The Embedded PCs measure just 65 x 100 x 80 mm and feature the Windows CE 6.0 operating system, a 400 MHz ARM9 CPU, 64 MB RAM and a 256 MB MicroSD card which can be extended to 4 GB. There is also an Ethernet 10/100 Mbit/s interface as well as a USB interface (behind the front flap). The PROFIBUS interface on the CX8030 is a 9-pin D-Sub plug with screening; the CANopen bus interface on the CX8050 is a 9-pin D-sub plug conform-ing to the CANopen specification with galvanic decoupling.

The new CX8030 and CX8050 Embedded PCs add fieldbus master functionality to the CX8000 series of small controllers

JSW Steel: Powering Tomorrow with Strength

JSW's flagship manufacturing facility at Vijayanagar is an institute of steel making technology. At Vijayanagar, the TMT bar mill, supplied by Morgan USA, is one of the largest TMT bar mill in the country with a production capacity of one million tons per annum. TMT bars from JSW are branded as “JSW TMT PLUS”.

 Primary & Single Source Manufacturing

JSW Steel produces TMT bars through primary route at a single-source. JSW's superior and controlled manufacturing process restricts the Sulphur and Phosphorous impurities to as low as 0.035% each and extremely low tramp elements. This enhances the strength of which leads to lesser consumption of steel in civil constructions. JSW TMT PLUS is Toughened high strength HYQST (High Yield Quenched and Self Tempered) TMT Bar routed through METCS (Morgan Enhanced Temperature Control System).

The “PLUS” factors

Clean and Green SteelJSW TMT PLUS is manufactured

through a combination of quality and technologically controlled excellent processes. Process route of Blast Furnace - LD steel making - Ladle Refining - continu-ous casting of billets ensures right and desired quality. Surface finish of each bar is excellent as the mill employs tungsten carbide rolls against conventional rolls. Superior Quality Product

Latest computer controlled rapid quenching system with metallurgical rationale ensures fine equi-axed ferrite-pearlite microstructure at the core and hard and tempered martensite at the outer surface. This gives the bar combination of superior strength and high ductility. The Process also ensures high Yield Strength of

2530 N/mm (min) and Tensile Strength of 2610 N/mm (min) coupled with high

ductility of 18% elongation (min). Its high UTS/ YS ratio of 1.15 min ensures higher energy absorption capacity.

JSW TMT PLUS has excellent weldability due to lower carbon equivalent. It can be easily butt-welded, lap-welded and manual arc welding can also be done without any pre-heating. It has higher fatigue resistance and resistance to higher temperatures. The rib pattern in JSW TMT PLUS is of the finest quality leading to best bonding with concrete. The Right Choice

JSW TMT PLUS, has been entrusted with some of the most prestigious and ambitious projects which include the Metro Rail Projects at Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Delhi & Jaipur; Monorail Project at Mumbai; International Airports at Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai; Yamuna Expressway; Atomic Power Plant at Kakarapar, Gujarat; and many other reputed projects. As a result, in a short span, JSW TMT PLUS has emerged as the most preferred brand in the industry.

JSW Steel is a Primary and Integrated producer of steel and steel produced is inherently pure and clean. Quality control is established at the raw material stage itself and flows right up to the point when dispatches take place.

WTO dispute panel report finds US countervailing duty CVD on India's exports of hot rolled carbon steel flat products inconsistent with WTO law on subsidies

The United States Department of C o m m e r c e ( U S D O C ) i m p o s e d Countervailing Duty (CVD) on India's exports of Hot Rolled Carbon Steel Flat Products. The measures continue to be in force and adversely impact the Indian exports. India challenged the determina-tions made by the US DOC in various investigations/reviews treating several programs of India as subsidy whereas, these programs do not confer any subsidy on the Indian exporters. Various provisions under challenge were that of US Tariff Act and the Code of Federal Regulations as being inconsistent with the provisions of WTO Subsidy Agreement (ASCM).

As both the parties could not resolve the issue bilaterally, the matter was taken up before the WTO Dispute Panel. The Panel Ruling has been circulated on 14 July, 2014. Panel has ruled that the imposition of CVD

by the US is inconsistent with WTO law on subsidies.

One of the major Ruling in favor of India is that the Panel has held that the US law mandating cumulation of non-subsidized imports with subsidized imports while determining injury in a CVD investigation is inconsistent with WTO obligations. This Ruling potentially questions the validity of a number of other CVD proceedings conducted by the United States on products of Indian origin.

In addition to the above Ruling, the Panel has held that the US had no factual basis to hold that the grant of mining rights for iron ore and coal was a subsidy. The Panel has also held that the US should not have ignored market prices available in India while determining the amount of subsidies, if any. The Panel has also held that the United States was not correct in applying

adverse facts standard in 73 out of 85 instances for imposition of penultimate duty.

The Panel could not consider some of India's claims such as those relating to the methods of calculating the amount of subsidies and one relating to the application of adverse fact available. The Panel has also not accepted India's claim that NMDC was not a “public body” within the meaning of WTO law, disregarding the previous ruling of the WTO Appellate Body in another WTO case.

The ruling is appealable before the WTO Appellate Body and the decision to appeal against the same is currently under active consideration, in light of the systemic concerns on some of India's claims denied by the Panel.

Railroad engineering, otherwise known as a rather traditional branch of industry, is currently showing itself as very innovative in a consistent process of modernization of production, maintenance and signaling. In this context, RFID is proving itself as a key technology, since RFID from HARTING is robust, long-lived, maintenance free and reliable.

The railway area presents some very special challenges with regard to the technologies involved: extreme environ-mental demands (especially on the bogies), stone impacts, vandalism, very high speeds, reliability over decades with rising cost pressure as well as tight schedules for maintenance.

HARTING has been ranked as the railway connector specialist for decades. Over recent years this valuable experience has been consistently transferred to the HARTING RFID products. Tests like the EN 50155 railway standard are therefore nothing new for the company, but familiar terrain.

HARTING offers an entire range of solutions; for example, in the area of servicing and maintenance. The mainte-

nance of trains is safety-critical and expensive at the same time. A train in the maintenance shop cannot earn any money. HARTING offers mobile apps for configuration and maintenance manage-ment. These mobile solutions simplify the work, make the process transparent and thereby increase safety, while saving time and costs at the same time.

There are also additional requirements: Modern commuter trains are sometimes longer than the platform, or the platform has additional safety doors. In both cases, the train has to be positioned precisely and only particular doors may be opened. RFID is a very robust and simple means, despite dirt, dust, leaves, rain and stone impacts, for stopping a train precisely by the platform and for providing the onboard electronics with a signal showing which doors have been opened and which have not. Since the transponders can also be hidden in concrete, the solution is well protected from manipulation and vandalism.

Touristically attractive old towns have to struggle with overhead conductors, which are sometimes not very attractive. At the same time, the number of trams and buses

with electric drive systems is increasing. HARTING RFID offers the possibility of informing the tram that it is approaching a charging station and thereby avoiding the loss of a single second of charging time, since all systems are already prepared. In addition, the precise location can easily be determined so that the vehicle knows whether an overhead line for charging is available or the battery has to be used for propulsion.

RFID also allows data recording from fast moving trains. Customers have successfully tested the complete RFID systems - from extremely robust, metal-housed transponders to connection with the software and easily recorded data from trains at over 120 km/hr. Here the tran-sponders are mounted on the train and the RFID reader may be tested in a switching cabinet mounted near the track in confor-mity with railway standards. The Internet also provides evidence of instances in which even speeds of 200 km/hr. can be managed without problems. For more information visit:www.harting.co.in
