TIP102 Motion Controller using Incremental Encoder Application Information The TIP102 family consists of IndustryPack® compatible modules with complete one or two axes high precision motion control interfaces, using incremental encoder with RS422 or TTL signal level for position feedback. The transition module TIP102-TM-xx is required for the signal conditioning and optional galvanically isolation of the various input and output signals. The position feedback is provided by an incremental encoder interface and a 24 bit up/down counter. The level of the encoder signals can be TTL or RS422. Optionally, the encoder signals can be isolated on the transition module by high speed optocouplers. The encoder signals pass a digital filter for noise suppression before they are fed into the counter and the reference logic. The counter is programmable for single, double and quadruples analysis of the two encoder phase signals.
Calibration of the position feedback to an absolute reference point is done by programmable reference logic. Several modes of operation and hardware configurations for the reference switch and the encoder zero pulse are selectable. During normal operation the automatic recalibration of the measurement system is practicable with the “Auto-Reference” mode, whenever the system passes the reference location. Two isolated 24V DC digital inputs have limit switch functionality. Each of these inputs drives a floating optocoupler output as hardware feedback. These outputs can be used to disable the power on the motor power amplifier, dependent on the actual direction. One additional isolated 24V digital input is for free use by the software, for example as emergency stop input. A floating optical output can be controlled by software, for example as enable signal for the motor power amplifier. A 16 bit digital to analog converter (DAC) produces a +/-10V controller output signal which can be used as speed or torque source for the power amplifier of the motor drive system. A galvanically isolation of this signal with the help of an isolation amplifier will be supplied as a transition module option. A 12 bit analog to digital converter (ADC) with a configurable input voltage range is also available.
For First-Time-Buyers the Engineering Documentation TIP102-ED is recommended. The Engineering Documentation includes TIP102-DOC, schematics and data sheets of TIP102 and TIP102-TM. Software Support (TIP102-SW-xx) is available for different operating systems. Technical Information TIP102

The Embedded I/O Company TIP115 5 Channel SSI Interface with ‘Listen Only’ Mode Application Information The TIP115 is an IndustryPack® compatible module for motion control applications. The TIP115 offers five independent channels. Each of these channels can be operated as a standard SSI interface controller or in a ‘Listen only’ mode. The standard SSI interface controller outputs a clock burst to the absolute encoder and receives the returned positional data. The SSI interface controller operates with a programmable clock rate from 1µs to 15µs and programmable data word length from 1 bit to 32 bit. In ‘Listen only’ mode the channel listens to an existing SSI interface to observe its data transfer. It takes both the SSI clock and data as inputs. In ‘Listen only’ mode the channel also has a programmable data word length from 1 bit to 32 bit; the SSI clock rate of the observed SSI interface can be in the range of 1µs to 15µs. In both modes the data word can be encoded in Binary- or in Gray-Code and with odd, even or no parity. The data inputs are galvanically isolated by high speed optocouplers. The level of the input and output signals is RS422.
For First-Time-Buyers the Engineering Documentation TIP115-ED is recommended. The Engineering Documentation includes TIP115-DOC, schematics and data sheets of TIP115. Software Support (TIP115-SW-xx) is available for different operating systems.

The inputs can withstand input voltage up to 44V maximum between the two differential input pins. Due to the differential inputs of the TIP606, it is even possible to use the module in noisy environments. The TIP606 provides a high differential input resistance of 112kohms typically. The interface circuit will detect a logic 1, if the differential voltage is typically greater than +14.0V and it will detect a logic 0, if the input voltage is typically lower than +3.5V. The inputs are isolated from the IP interface via optocouplers. Each input is capable of generating interrupts on rising or falling edges of the input signal. It is also possible to disable the generation of interrupts and poll the input register for new data.
All inputs have an electronic debounce circuit. The debounce time is programmable in a range from 900µs up to 230ms in 256 steps of 900µs. The debounce circuit can also be disabled. The TIP606 is designed for an operating temperature from -40°C to +85°C. For First-Time-Buyers the Engineering Documentation TIP606-ED is recommended. The Engineering Documentation includes TIP606-DOC, schematics and data sheets. The driver software TIP606-SW-xx provides functions to configure the TIP606, read the input status and connect software events to input state changes.
