Cross-Docking (Warehouse Mobility) What is Cross-Docking?

• Match incoming goods to existing requirements, typically on a dynamic basis.

• Different than existing cross-reference functionality in which a user purposefully ties an incoming item to a specific requirement (also known in some ERP systems as on-order reservations).

• Cross-docking minimizes warehouse handling of material by taking the material to the point of need rather than putting it into a warehouse location. This saves the effort to put the material away and then to turn around and pick the material.
