How does the article use language to persuade young people not to smoke?

• Skim through the article, find and label 3 quotes with ideas of how it persuades the audience to avoid smoking.

• Make a note of any AFOREST used in the quotes you find.

How would I go about writing up my answer?

The article uses a fact about the first signs of cancer to shock the audience. It writes ‘one morning she noticed blood on her pillow’. This will put young people off smoking because of the gruesome nature of the details it gives. It shows that smoking is not worth the suffering it could potentially cause.
