Motivation for connecting SAP BW 3.5 and SAP EP 6.0

For Information Broadcasting with the Portal, BW and the Portal work together seamless as one single system

BW components are located on both the BW and the Portal server

BW server components need to be able to call the Portal

The Portal needs to be able to call the BW server

This enables the following scenarios:Calling of BEx Web Applications fromSAP EP 6.0

BEx Information Broadcastingvia Web browseras batch job

Publishing into SAP EP 6.0 fromBEx Web Application Designer

Starting Information Broadcasting - The Role

With EP 6.0 a BW specific showcase role will be delivered to enable a quick start for Information Broadcasting

com.sap.ip.bi.business_explorer_showcase

You can use the delivered role & objects as they are or as a template for your own design

The portal role Business Explorer provides you with:

Business Intelligence content provided by SAP BW

Various tools of the Business Explorer Suite

Various possibilities to work with documents using Knowledge Management and Collaboration

© SAP AG 2004, SAP TechEd / BW254 / 57

Starting Information Broadcasting - The Role

The Portal Role Business Explorer contains the following elements:My Portfolio - shows your KM-folder Personal BEx Documents (/~alias~/userhome/<user.id>/Personal BEx Documents)

BEx Portfolio - shows your KM-folder Public Documents (/documents/Public Documents)

BEx Web Analyzer - enables you to navigate in BEx Queries and analyze data

BEx Broadcaster - enables you to precalculate and distribute BEx Queries, web templates and workbooks

Collaborative BI - Contains various Knowledge Management iViews for discussions, collaboration rooms and notifications

Discussions: allow users to exchange thoughts on a particular subject or document. The basis for such a discussion can be documents and links that are provided by BEx Information BroadcastingCollaboration Rooms: enable groups of users to share information and applications. Contents of SAP BW can also be integratedNotifications: inform you about changes to a document you subscribed to (e.g. availability of a new precalculation)

© SAP AG 2004, SAP TechEd / BW254 / 58

Defining iViews & Folders with the BW Layout Set

In order to visualize your KM Folders in the same design as delivered via the Showcase Role you have to create a KM Navigation iView for them and assign the delivered BW Layout Set:
