Centre of Academic Excellence & Beyond…While the need for professionals was gathering momentum in the early 90s in Pune,
Prof. M. N. Navale with visionary objective established Sinhgad Technical Education Society (STES) to provide quality education in the field of Engineering & Technology, Medical, Dental, Nursing, Management, Computer, Architecture, Pharmacy, Law, Arts, Science, Commerce, Hospitality and school education from kindergarten onwards.
Today, STES, under its aegis offers full-fledged School Education, Diploma, Graduation and Post Graduation courses in various branches of Engineering, Science and Management through educational institutes across 6 Campuses. These are at Vadgaon (Bk.), Narhe Ambegaon (Bk.), Kondhwa (Bk.), Erandwane, Pirangut in Pune and at Kusgaon (Bk.) in Lonavala. These institutes are located in pollution free, lush green and picturesque environment conclusive to learning.
Driven By Experts From Industry And EducationThe STE Society enjoys the services of a vast intellectual capital that comprises of eminent personalities drawn from the field of education and industry. Many of them are members of the management committee who provide necessary guidance on all academic and professional fronts. They also keep a tab on the latest educational developments across the globe.
STES maintains a close liaison with the corporate and industrial sector giving its students sufficient practical exposure. The students come out so well prepared and competitive that most of them are placed through our own placement cell. There is also a regional placement cell at Mumbai headed by Director of Training & Placement. Additionally there are separate placement cells in each of the institute / college.
Recognition and InfrastructureAll the institutes of STES have a highly updated infrastructure which is regularly upgraded. These state-of-art modernized learning institutes also have the recognition of the concerned regional statutory bodies. Every norm and standard has been thoroughly met by STES.
Collaborating With IIT, Mumbai for Distance Education ProgrammmeIn keeping with our legacy of continuous upgradation and betterment, STES in collaboration with IIT, Mumbai, has established a Distance Education Programme (DEP) Centre at its Vadgaon-Budruk campus offering Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology (PGDIT). The Diploma Certificate is issued by IIT, Mumbai on successful completion of the course. The lectures by the IIT, Mumbai faculty have been well received by the students in the classroom of the DEP center at Vadgaon (Bk.) campus.
Students’ WelfareSinhgad Technical Education Society has provided Students’ Safety Insurance along with Medical facilities at concessional rates to all 30,000 students studying in various educational institutes of Sinhgad Technical Education Society. Student welfare works towards motivating, assisting students & faculties for the overall development of themselves as well as the Institution.

Medical, Dental and Nursing CollegesSTES has established a grand 500-bed hospital and research center with all modern specialties to facilitate the functioning of a Medical College and Nursing college at Narhe Ambegaon Campus & Dental College at the Vadgaon (Bk) campus in Pune.
Lodging & Boarding FacilitiesHostelsSTES campus provides hostel facilities with modern amenities. Each room is spacious, fully furnished and has an attached bath cum toilet. There is also a separate wing for foreign students available with all required amenities of international standard, having additional facilities for cooking, washing etc.
BoardingAt all campuses we provide clean, hygienic and quality food at subsidized rates to students. Mess facility / canteens / fast food outlets serve snacks and refreshments to the students during breaks.
Residential QuartersSeparate residential quarters available on all the campuses, provide accommodation to Heads of Institutions, faculty and other supporting staff members. This has been a strategic decision, which has cut the commuting time of the faculty and helped them focus better on teaching and guiding the students.

If so, Microbiology is the major for you. It is a diverse discipline with limitless applications in health, industry, biotechnology, environmental science, and basic research. Microbiologists are in higher demand than ever.
Eligibility: B.Sc. with Microbiology as principal subject or B.Sc. Biotechnology. The admission will be granted on the basis of entrance examination conducted by the college and principal subject marks (50:50 weightage).
M.Sc. Computer Science (30 Seats)Masters degree in Computer Science intends to provide students with thorough computer science background that allows them to pursue careers in industry environment as well as research. The students are not only professionally trained, they also have an analytical mind and problem solving attitude.
Eligibility: 1. Bachelor of Computer Science with 50% marks.2. Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science or Information Technology /
Electronic Telecommunication with 50% marks. The admission will be granted on the basis of entrance examination conducted by the college and principal subject marks (50:50 weightage).
M.Sc. Petroleum Technology (30 Seats)Petroleum Technology has been an inevitable aspect of economy, trade & globalization. Indian petroleum industry has exhibited trends of rapid development. The demand for mineral fuels is ever-increasing and so is the need for newer trends in exploration technology and processing. As a result petroleum sector remains a lucrative field for young promising individuals. It offers several career avenues with excellent prospects throughout. This course emphasizes on the global processes and trends adopted by the petroleum industry.
Eligibility: B.Sc with Geology as the principal subject. The admission will be granted on the basis of entrance examination conducted by the college and principal subject marks (50:50 weightage).

Industry Academia Forum (IAF)The college strives hard to provide the students maximum hands on knowledge that complements the syllabus. Industry Academia Forum is one such gallant initiative, being organized since six years to help bridge the gap between industry and academia. Visits to industries, various technology events and competitions keep the spirit of this event euphoric. The Intercollegiate events comprise of SofTex (Programming, Quiz & Project Competition), Proelex (Electronics projects, Poster Competition), Geofest MOZIAC (Geology fest), Horizons (Project & poster competition for Biological Science), MANCOM (Commerce & management event)
SCI-MatricsScience club Sci-Matrics, is a platform for nurturing new ideas and talents of the students. All in-house research initiatives of the students are evaluated and acknowledged on Science Day every year.
Sports and Cultural Activities
All-round Development for a Complete PersonalityDr. (Mrs.) Sunanda Navale, Founder-Secretary, STES, heads the organising committee of all extracurricular activities that includes sports and culture. This breaks the monotony of academics and also gives a new perspective for students development. The sports facilities are separate for school and colleges, both outdoor and indoor on the campus.
A sports complex at Vadgaon & Lonavala includes an international standard cricket ground, tennis courts, swimming pools etc. for practice and tournaments.

MAHARASHTRA PROHIBITION OF RAGGING ‘ACT, 1999.

In exercise of the powers-conferred by sub-section (2) of section 1 of the Maharashtra Prohibition of Ragging act, 1999 (Mah.XXXIU of 1999), the Government of Maharashtra hereby appoints the first day of June 1999 to be the date on which the said act shall come in to force. An Act to prohibit ragging in educational institutions in the
state of Maharashtra.
Where as it is expedient to enact a special law to
prohibit ragging in educational institutions in the state of
Maharashtra. It is hereby enacted in the Fiftieth Year of
the Republic of India as follows:
1. Short title and commencement
1. This act may be called the Maharashtra Prohibition of
Ragging Act,1999
2. It shall come into force on such date as the State
Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette
appoint
2. Definitions
In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires:
(a) “educational institution” means and included a college,
or other institution by whatever name called, carrying
on the activity or imparting education therein (either
exclusively or among other activities); and includes an
orphanage or a boarding home or hostel or a tutorial
institution or any other premises or attached there to;
(b) “head” of the educational institution means the Vice
Chancellor of the University, Dean of Medical Faculty,
Director of the institution or Principal, Headmaster or
the person responsible for the management of the
Educational Institution.
(c) “ragging” means display of disorderly conduct,
doing of any act which causes or is likely to cause
physical, psychological harm or raise apprehension or
fear or shame or embarrassment to a student in any
educational institution and includes
(i) teasing, abusing, threatening or playing practical
jokes on, or such student; or students; or
(ii) asking a student to do any act or perform something
which such student will not, in the ordinary course,
willingly, do.
3. Prohibition of ragging
Ragging within or outside of any educational institution is
prohibited
4. Penalty for ragging
Whoever directly or indirectly commits, participates
in, abets or propagates ragging within or outside any
educational institute shall, on conviction, be punished
with imprisonment for a term which may extend two years
and shall also be liable to a fine which may extend to ten
thousands rupees.
5. Dismissal of student
Any student convicted of an offence under section 4 shall
be dismissed from the educational institution and such
student shall not be admitted in any other institution for a
period of five years from the date of such dismissal.
6. Suspension of Student
(1) whenever any student or , as the case may be , the
parent or guardian , or a teacher of an educational
institution complains , in writing, of ragging to the
head of the educational institution, the head of the
educational institution shall, without prejudice to the
fore going provisions, within seven days of the receipt
of the complaint, enquire into the matter mentioned
in the complaint and if prima facie, it is found true,
suspend the student who is accused of the offence,
and shall, immediately forward the complaint to the
police station having jurisdiction over the area in which
the educational institution is situated, for further action.
(2) Where , on enquiry by the head of the educational
institution, it is proved that there is no substance,
prima facie , in the complaint received under sub-
section(1), he shall intimate the fact, in writing to the
complaint.
(3) The decision of the head of the educational institution
that the student has indulged in ragging under sub-
section (1), shall be final.
7. Deemed abetment
If the head of the educational institution fails or neglects to
take the action in the manner specified in section 6 when
a complaint of ragging is made, such person shall be
deemed to have abetted the offence of ragging and shall,
on conviction, be punished as provided for in section 4.
8. (1) The State Government may, by notification in the
Official Gazette, amend rules for carrying out all or any
of the purpose of this Act.
(2) Every rule made under this Act shall be laid , as soon
as may be , after it is made, before each House of the
State legislature, while it is in session for total period
of 30 days ,which may be comprised in one session
or in two or more successive session and if, before
the expiry of the session in which it is so laid or the
session immediately following, both houses agree in
making any modification in the rules or both houses
agree that the rule should not be made , and notify
such decision in the Official Gazette, the rule shall from
the date of publication of such notification, have effect
only in such modified form or be of no effect, as the
case may be; so however , that any such modification
or annulment shall be without prejudice to the validity
of anything previously done or omits to be done under
the rule.
Rules of DisciplineDo’s and Dont’s for the Students :
l The student should strictly obey the instructions laid down by the institute and given by the Principal from time to time.
l Student will be expelled from the college when found disobeying the orders of the Principal and faculty.
l The student should be regular in attendance and his/her attendance for the day shall be marked only when he/she is present for all the sessions for entire day. The college expects 75% attendance for the theory and practical sessions. However some relaxation is possible to the extent of 10% on valid grounds and with prior permission of the Principal.
l The students coming late shall not be allowed to enter the class.
l The attendance for the tests and tutorials conducted by the college is compulsory.
l The student is required to complete and submit assignments given from time to time failing which a strict disciplinary action will be taken.
l The student found irregular in attendance will not be granted terms and therefore liable to loose academic year.
l The students showing consistently poor performance in the test and tutorials and failing in the internal evaluation of the subject shall not be allowed to appear for the examinations.
l If the student is found weak in certain subjects, she/he will have to attend extra classes as notified by the college.
l The student should carry and wear identity card regularly and it should be produced when demanded by the authority of the college or institute.
l Use of mobile phones is prohibited wherever academic activity is going on (classroom, Laboratories, Library etc.)
l The vehicles should be parked at a place notified and the vehicles parked elsewhere i.e. other than parking zone shall be confiscated.
l The students found guilty by an act of misconduct either in the college or outside shall be subjected to strict disciplinary action and may be expelled from the college.
l The students should not cause any damage to the college property. The damage caused shall be recovered from the students immediately.
l Strict silence should be observed in the Library. Loitering in the corridors is strictly prohibited.
l Smoking in the premises is strictly prohibited.
l The students should read the notices displayed on the notice board regularly. The college will not be responsible for any loss of advantage due to the negligence of not reading the notices.
l The above rules of discipline are always subject to change, modification, addition, omission or alteration, and shall be modified when the Principal deems it fit and proper .The decision of the Principal shall be final and binding on the students.
