ABOUT THE MUSIC ACADEMYThe Music Academy was formed in 1988 under the name, ALMSA -Academy for Light
thMusic of SA. As part of the 30 year of existence, a re-branding of the Academy was done with a new logo, new colour scheme and new syllabus for all instruments. The Music Academy is an independent body providing examinations in Contemporary Music in South Africa. National examinations has been held, three times per year in South Africa over past 30 years.

CHANGES TO SYLLABUSThe Music Academy examination requirements do not alter annually, this new syllabus will be running until future notice. Any changes to the syllabus will be announced on our website as well as on Facebook.
EXAMINATIONSMore info regarding examinations are available in the general rules and regulations publication.
TEACHERS TRAININGRegular teachers training will be done through various platforms on syllabuses. More information will be available on our website and Facebook group. OWN COMPOSITIONS Please refer to the List C section of the publications regarding the information on own compositions.
REGULATIONS ON EXAMINATIONSThe complete regulations regarding the examinations is set out in the general rules & regulations publication. Please refer to this publication to ensure that this is upheld.
QUESTIONSAll questions can be directed to the different divisions, regarding general enquiries, publications and examinations on the contact details set on the information page.
SET PIECESCandidates are required to prepare the specified number of pieces in all examinations. In all examinations these pieces and the requirements as per List is specified as per List.

As part of our teachers training, The Music Academy will publish an Teachers Manual for each Grade as per instrument.

Ensemble Spel vir Lys C
Kandidate moet een stuk vir ‘n Lys C voorberei. Hierdie stuk mag uit een van die voorafgaande lyste in hierdie publikasie gekies word. Alternatiewelik kan ‘n ander musiek stuk gekies word uit ander publikasies of die kandidaat kan sy/haar eie komposisie speel. ‘n Kopie moet aan die eksaminator verskaf word. Ensemble spel is verpligtend vir hierdie musiekstuk. Verwys na die beskrywing vroer in hierdie publikasie.

Swing Along Mr Charleston“Swing along Mr Charleston” is written for the Music Academy by Andre Coetzee and Dries Petzer as part of the new syllabus. This is a medley of the swing style as well as the Charleston style.

Die Akademie loots vanaf 2019 die nuwe eksamen formate naamlik:

Inligting sal beskikbaar gemaakword aan geregistreerde onderwysers.
Die Akademie sal opleiding verskaf aan onderwysers deur gebruik te maak van verskeie formate. Een van hierdie formate is die daarstelling van ons “Youtube Channel”

Die belangrike formaat van opleiding wat verskaf word aan onderwysers is deur gebruik te maak van ons “Web Blad”. Hierdie blad word op ‘n gereelde basis opdateer met verskeie video’s, dokumente asook kennisgewings wat hier geplaas word.
Inligting sal beskikbaar gemaak word aan geregistreerde onderwysers.
Een van die formate wat gebruik sal word is die gereelde aanbieding van seminare, werkswinkels asook die Winterskool.

Deur die afgelope 30 jaar het Die Musiek-Akademie (ALMSA) bewys dat ons die voorlopers is, was en sal wees ten opsigte van veranderinge, kreatiwiteit en uniekheid. Net so glo DieAkademie dat daar nie beperkings geplaas word aan die ontwikkeling van musikante nie.
Ons glo dat elke musikant as persoon uniek is, en so moet ook dan sy/haar musiek uniek wees. Die Akademie stel slegs die middele beskikbaar hiervoor.
Vir hierdie rede beskou Die Akademie dit uiters belangrik dat Onderwysers die nodige opleiding ontvang. Die Musiek-Akademie streef na nie die perfekte musikant nie maar die kreatiefste musikant siende dat Ligte Musiek geen beperkings plaas op musikante nie. Vir hierdie redes ons spreekwoord ..........
