Background information

CRAB Name change; as of 1 September no graduates

BS and IEF, but IBA and Economics

Midterm review• Difference between BS and IB is unknown

abroad. Because of this, there is a need for programmes that are better comparable with degree programmes of other universities

• More international students in the international programmes. Aim is 25 % international students in Bachelor’s programmes and 50% in Master’s programmes (currently 5% of all Tilburg University students is from abroad)

Need for a phasing-out plan Facilitate current students to graduate on the

‘old’ programme

Changes

Business Studies (BS) >> International Business Administration (IBA)

International Economics and Finance (IEF) >> Economics

Different curriculum + decentralized selection and numerus fixus

IB, BS-students and IEF-students cannot switch to the IBA or Economics programme. (you need to apply or enroll at studielink to take part in the drawing lot procedure as every other candidate). However, after finishing the ‘old’ programme you will receive an IBA- or Economics diploma. IB will receive IB diploma..

International Business (IB) >> disappears

Examples

Alec has started the Business Studies programme in

September 2008. He almost passed all his first year

courses, except for ‘Accounting; introduction’. What

do the changes mean for his situation?

Wouter is a young man who started the International

Economics and Finance programme in 2008. His

study progress could be better; he just managed to

scrape through. He passed 36 ECTS and met the

Binding Study Advice norm. What do the changes

Questions

I did not pass all first year courses, what do I have to

do?

The faculty is phasing out my programme. What does

this imply for me personally?

What if I do not pass a course and there are no re-

exam opportunities anymore?

Questions

I have passed 36 ECTS from my first year courses.

FEB has a rule that you need permission to take

second year courses. (up to 30 ECTS per semester).

What to do?

The examination committee postponed my BSA

because of my personal circumstances. Unfortunately

I did not pass many courses. What should I do?

Going on exchange?

Questions

What if I cannot attend one or more lectures?

Considering my study progress I want to enroll in one

Administration / Economics). What do I need to do?

have to take?

Questions

I want to be actively involved in the management of a

student organization and therefore I foresee

considerable study delay. What can I do?

I have a first year’s course open. What if these

lectures are at the same time as a second year

course?

I do not agree with these changes. What can I do?

When do I need to contact the academic advisor?
