� urban areas account for 75% of CO2 emissions, main sources: buildings, transport, industry

� urban population to grow from 3.5 bln in 2010


to 6.3 bln in 2050, with 95% of increase occurring indeveloping countries

� urban capacity needs to double in the next 40 years!
