Just as if you tried to be me it would not work – there is already one of me! (And one is enough!) We were created to be unique individuals – one of a kind. What is important, is that we use our gifts, the things we are good at and passionate about well. To do the best we can with what we have is more than enough for God. Let’s encourage our children this week that as long as they do their best and have fun with the skills that they have they are being successful. Thought to ponder on…. IMPORTANT 2016 DATES

God has given each one of us different gifts

and abilities. While some will be academic,

others will be clever with their hands. Some

will be successful sports people while others

will be inventors of innovative tools. As we

approach our swimming carnival this week I

am reminded of this very important truth.

Romans 12:6-8 God has given each of us

the ability to do certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to

prophesy, speak out when you have faith that God is speaking through you. If

your gift is that of serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, do a

good job of teaching. If your gift is to encourage others, do it! If you have

money, share it generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the

responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others,

do it gladly.

We are all different and that is OK….it’s actually more than OK. We were

created to be us. If I for example tried to be someone different it just wouldn’t

work. Just as if you tried to be me it would not work – there is already one of

me! (And one is enough!) We were created to be unique individuals – one of a

kind. What is important, is that we use our gifts, the things we are good at and

passionate about well. To do the best we can with what we have is more than

enough for God.

Let’s encourage our children this week that as long as they do their best and

have fun with the skills that they have they are being successful.

Thought to ponder on….

What gifts and abilities has God given to you? Are you using your gifts and

abilities in an effective way?

May God bless you richly this week and may you feel valued and appreciated

for the unique, beautiful person that you are.

As we travel through Lent and reflect upon what this

means for us, I have had a number of conversations with

people about whether they give up anything or go without

anything during this time. In the past we have had both

staff and students give something up like coffee or

chocolate. What have you given up during this time? Is it

something you have done in the past or not? Although I

personally do find this time of the year a challenging time

as I try to make sense of what Jesus went through for

each of us, I have never made the conscious decision to

give something up during the Lenten season. I don't

know if this is a good or a bad thing, but what I do know

is that He thinks nothing less of me for not doing this. I

came across this post recently and it really spoke to me

about what I can do during Lent. Instead of going without

I can contribute in a positive way and not just during

Lent. I hope that it speaks to each of you also as we

draw closer to Easter.

Family Barbecue

Thank you everyone for your part in making Friday evening such a great night. There were many positive

comments shared with me about how much people enjoyed the Family Evening. It was lovely to see so

many families and staff in fellowship with each other in such a relaxing and enjoyable way. Thank you to

Mrs Linda Pfitzner and the P&F catering committee for coordinating the evening meal.

Sports Uniforms

Please note that all students are to wear sport uniforms (with a top the same colour as their House) for the

Swimming Carnival on Thursday and the Year Three/Four students are to wear sport uniforms on Friday for

PE.

Life Jackets for Swimming Carnival

We are in urgent need of life jackets for tomorrow’s Swimming Carnival. If you have some that you are able

to let us use, please bring to the front office on Thursday morning. Please ensure that all life jackets are

named.

Buses for Thursday

All students catching the Area School buses on Thursday will be leaving from the Area School and NOT from

St John’s.

Zooper Dooper Fridays

Each Friday after students have eaten lunch, there will be Zooper Dooper ice blocks available for 50 cents

from the kitchen servery. The Parents and Friends Committee, under the guidance of Mrs Grosser and the

Year Seven students, will offer these treats in Terms One and Four.

Acceptable User Agreement

Please return the ‘Acceptable User Agreement’ forms to Mrs Verrall as soon as possible. Students who have

not returned these forms will be unable to use computers at school.

From the

Principal …..

Bus Travel Arrangements

It is imperative that school staff know what children are doing after school. Please either write a note in communication

books or send an email to the front office ([email protected]) if there are any changes to travel arrangements.

Changes to bus transport must be made prior to 2.30pm. If changes occur after this time, parents are required to

telephone the Area School on 85811500 to notify them of these changes. Thank you for your cooperation.

Sponsor Child

For the new families to our school community, St John’s sponsors a child from the Phillipines called Jacqueline G.

Verceles. Jacqueline is now eight years old. Each week the collection from Monday Chapel is sent to Jacqueline to

assist with her education. If you have a few gold coins to donate each week, it would be most appreciated.

Have a blessed week.

Adelaide Crows Visit

We were very lucky to get a visit from two Adelaide Crows players, Ricky Henderson and Rory Laird. The

students were all very excited to have an opportunity to get an autograph and photos with the players and

then to have a kick with them. We would like to thank the Adelaide Football Club for including us in their

visits. The children really appreciated it.
