46 th Genoa International Boat Show - Ingemar Technical Sponsor Twelve months of intense activity for Ingemar, during which important orders have been commissioned and a significant increase in turnover has been achieved. This demonstrates the ever-growing interest by both the public and private sectors in the pleasure craft industry and its receptive facilities. The decisive factors for the companys' success have been their decision to invest in production facilities, in manpower and in research and development which, together with the reorganisation of its commercial activities in cooperation with Ingemar Trading & Services, has ensured the necessary capabilities and energy to successfully compete at international levels. After 27 years of activity, today Ingemar is an industrial company with notable design capacity and flexible production procedures, meaning a highly qualified technical partner for its investors and a reliable and accredited supplier. The ISO 9001 certification for quality and the SOA licence for public works confirms the company's operative competence, vaunting client satisfaction as the best testimonial as well as its successful completion of ever more complex assignments. The completion of the floating structures for the Marina at Genoa and the turnkey projects for the construction of pontoons and equipment at the new Marina at Stabia, are a feather in their cap during a year which has seen the company committed, both in Italy and abroad, to carrying out new tourist landings and special made-to-measure recreation structures and river navigation. Ingemar's visibility was further reinforced by the installation of pontoons for the boat shows at Genoa and Venice, as well as the breakwaters for the Boat Show at Split and its par ticipation as technical sponsor for major water-sports events. A service platform on pilings in theheart of Le Grazie

As part of an ambitious restructuringprogramme, Ingemar has been appointedby the Società Agonistica Pesca SportivaGolfo dei Poeti di Le Grazie to produce thefinal plans for, and build, a new structure onthe seashore destined to be a servicecentre and clubhouse for members. This will be a platform of 330 m2 resting onpilings fixed to the sea bed, made of steelelements with a walkway in exotichardwood, supported by girders andcapitals. This is a new venture in the made-to-measure sector where Ingemar'stechnical capacities and experience proveto be a winning formula.

Ingemar pontoons for thereorganisation of the marina

Following completion in spring of theMarina Novigrad with nearly 400 berthsfor boats over 12 m, in July a new projecton the Istrian coastline was begun, in thebeautiful town of Rovigno, for thereorganisation and enlargement of the ACIMarina Rovinj.Marmontis d.o.o., Ingemar's Croatianpartner, was fundamental to the successfuloutcome of the international competitionfor the supply of new mooring structures:more than 400 m of FE/IG/R pontoons, with reinforced steel structures which havebeen successfully used in other, equallydifficult, projects and which are certified bythe Croatian Naval Register. This is anotherprestigious appointment which, togetherwith the enlargement of the privatelandings of Volme and the supply ofbreakwaters to the Split Boat Show, bringscontinuity to the growth and developmentof Ingemar and Marmontis in Croatia.

Marina di Cortellazzo: an original port

The restructuring of the historic marina atthe mouth of the river Piave is completed. The new owners have carried out a trulyoriginal facelift: in summer this is a pleasingmarina for boats of up to 16 m and inwinter, by modifying the layout, the marinaprovides protection for larger boats whichremain in the water. This is an innovativesolution, set up in conjunction withIngemar and made possible by using made-to-measure floating structures so asto meet the different and specificinstallation requirements, in particular thestrong current - 15 km per hour - and theconsiderable range in levels of the river.

Pontoons and plant installations forcentral-southern Italy's largest marina

The acquisition of this extremely importantcommission, following a strict internationalcompetition, is both a great success and agreat undertaking. The fitting out of thenew port at Marina di Stabia will be a bigresponsibility, followed closely by and in thecompany with, the sectors' top professionals. The new Marina di Stabia, situated onsome of the most beautiful sailing routesand close to the Amalfi coast and theFlegree islands, aims to become the largestand best equipped marina in southern Italywith a capacity for more than 1,300 boatsbetween 12-80 m, moored to fingers, theshoreline keys and the main jetty.Ingemar has been entrusted with theturnkey implementation of all the floatingmooring structures, service bollards, mooring systems along the keys and all accessories for berths in the marina. The first allotment, currently under way, comprises delivery of 1,600 m. approximately of floating pontoons and340 fingers, for a total of 920 berths of upto 40 m. The layout of the outer basin, forlarger boats, is currently under definition. The new floating pontoons, following indications by Studio Conti & Associatesfrom Udine who are the designers, are12x3 continuous floating modules inreinforced concrete and polystyrene. The loadbearing structure is in galvanisedsteel and the walkways are in exotichardwoods from certified sustainable forests (CSF).Anchorage of the elements is by fixedpilings to the sea bed and vertical slidingdevices ensuring their resistance to allweather conditions and maintaining theirtrim; combined with the use of fingers they drastically reduce maintenance requirements. Stability of the structures inwater is excellent and their characteristicsensure great comfort and an aspect equalto that of traditional fixed pontoons. All berths are supplied with pre-paymentservice bollards with up 400 amps for maxiyachts. On completion of work, re-contruction ofthe waterfront designed by MassimilianoFuksas will begin.A futuristic multi-functional structure willbe built on the site of old factories and willconnect to the city centre providing newmeeting places and re-generating commercial activity.Ingemar is especially pleased to be part ofthis very important project and to join forces with the other principal team members of this initiative.

Vento di Venezia: a new nauticalattraction on the island of Certosa

A new nautical centre has been created atVenice with a depot, shipyard, sailing schooland guest quarters, in conjunction with theprestigious French association of Glenans, and a well equipped tourist landing place. On the island of Certosa, only a fewhundred meters from Piazza San Marco, anabandoned area has been reclaimed by thelocal authorities and existing buildings havebeen extended. This is an ambitious project implementedby a group of young Venetian sailingenthusiasts determined to create a newsailing centre which today, after only 15months from its beginnings, employs 24people from young apprentices, carpentersand contract workers. For Ingemar this wasa made to meausure project: following theshoreline on both sides of the canal andcreating a connecting element, that couldbe opened, between the two shores. The limited space available meant usingSlim size pontoons, 1.60 m. in width, usingfingers to ensure simple moorings, comfortable stability and ease of access.

Pleasure-craft and passenger boatlandings

Ingemar has a great deal of experience inthe field of floating platforms on rivers andlakes for mooring small pleasure-craft aswell as passenger boats. These often haveto be multi-functional (passenger boats andsmall craft) and are subjected to severeconditions (currents, water levels) andcomplex problems relating to access andanchorage as well as the dimensions of thepassenger boats. In 2006, following themore than 35 installations by the companyalong Italy's major rivers and in theVenetian lagoon, another 8 landings havebeen added: on the Po delta betweenVenice and Rovigo, on the upper Po nearPavia, on the river Tanaro in the province ofAlessandria and on the Adda close to Lecco.

Floating quays and mini mooringplatforms

Marano Lagunare has for some time beencarrying out a programme to restructure themoorings of the fishing boats along the canalbanks of the town centre. The latest project, in2006, has seen Ingemar supplying a longpontoon parallel to the quay with threefloating walkways placed at right angles andanchored by pilings and vertical beams fixedto land. Boat moorings are by means ofwooden poles to the bows and a series ofsmall platforms fixed to the pontoons whichassist boarding procedures and provide themgreater transversal stability.

GENOVA

6,350 m2 of floating structures forthe 2006 Boat Show

Following the successful installation of thepier for large yachts at the 2005 Boat Show, the positive cooperation with the Fiera diGenova SpA was re-confirmed for 2006.After careful examination of the layoutwith the technicians of the Fiera di Genovaand UCINA, Ingemar (again in record time)carried out the final planning, implementation and completion of theworlds' largest floating exhibition facility. In only a few months the marina was fittedwith a "floating thoroughfare" in the middleof the port 300 m long and 9 m wide withspace for 32 special exhibition stands. On one side is the approach landing formaxi-yachts and on the other are 6 transverse mooring pontoons, totalling 575 m by 6 m in width. Overall there are more than 6,000 m.2 offloating surface space with a displacementof 1,570 tonnes and the stability, freeboardand overload are comparable to more traditional fixed structures (an overall weight of 35,000 people). The floating jetties are the King Size type,12x3 m, with rigid joints, galvanised steelstructures, floating units in reinforced concrete and polistyrene and exotichardwood walkways. The flexibility of thefloating elements meant that the jettiesinstalled for the previous Show could beutilised in the new port layout. All the modules are prepared so as to be combined in different ways, thus satisfyingthe needs of a modern tourist port formega yachts as well as for diverse exhibition layouts.Along the 200 m of approaches are moorings for more than 200 boats, themost beautiful at the Show, for lengths ofup to 35 m.In order to ensure maximum security andaccessibility for visitors, all the jetties aresupplied with parapets, with stanchions andropes, and the access walkways are of thesame width as the pontoons with very slight inclines so as to ensure easy disabledaccess. Ingemar's presence at the Showwas further enhanced by the supply, astechnical sponsor, of a new floating bridgeover the canal which provides access tothe inner basins, so as to ensure a linkbetween the new marina and the exhibition areas of the Ponente della Fiera. The bridge, 80 m long and 4.70 m wide, issupplied with access gangways, lined withhandrails, and both the structural andaesthetic characteristics are in keeping withthe other floating port structures. All the floating structures are anchored tothe seabed by a system of chains anddeadweights which ensure stability of thepontoon system even under the weight ofmoored yachts. Overall there are 28,000 kg of chains foranchorage lines and 1,100 tonnes ofreinforced concrete for the deadweights.

A floating port in the commercialbasin

Large ports offer an ideal location forreceiving smaller craft. Often, however, apart from the interference in commercialand fishing activities, the protection forsmall craft is completely inadequate. In these cases the use of floatingbreakwaters is often the best solution:quick and inexpensive they delineate aprotected space safe from the wavesgenerated in large ports. The new tourist port at Marsala is anexample of this kind of project: minimalimpact on the territory and often useful forreconverting abandoned port space.Through a series of projects the southbasin of the port has been equipped with500 m of Ingemar pontoons protected by afloating barrier of 120 m using the F/CAtype breakwaters of 20x4 m.Overall there are more than 300 berthsfitted with all essential services, close to thetown centre, the main tourist attractionsand important archaeological sites. The new port will be a popular destinationfor pleasure craft as it is only a few milesfrom the favourite Sicilian tourist attractionsand the Egadi islands.

More berths in Cala degli Aragonesi

By means of about 200 m of floatingpontoons, Cala degli Aragonesi raised itsaccommodation capacity up to 160 berths.A further resource for the expandingnautical tourism in Isole Flegree alwaysinhibited by the lack of landing structures.

A floating highway to reunite themunicipalityA new bridge over boats, using buildingtechniques of today but following the layoutand aspect of traditional Polesana structures, has reunited the town of Vigonovo which wasliterally cut in half by the Padova to Venicewaterway. This is an economical solution, quickly executed and with minimum impacton the environment; it has restored theoriginal route to the satisfaction of bothpedestrians and cyclists who were obliged togo a long way round along a dangerousand busy road. The bridge is 58 m long and2.4 m. wide, "resting" on 5 boats, 2 of whichhave pontoons for canoes and small boats. There is a rigid central walkway accessed bytwo footbridges with slight inclines: thestructure has a maximum load of 400 kg/m2

and allows for maximum displacement inthe event of high tides or flood waters.

A new fixed wharf at Cala Dé Medici

The port at Cala Dé Medici is nearingcompletion and the work on land is also inits final phase. In 2003, following supply of the pontoons, the Marina again turned to Ingemar for aneven more complex project: the wideningof the shoreside piers so as to enlarge thefootpaths whilst avoiding the danger ofcollision with the rocky quay. The functional requirements aredemanding: a projecting structure, 3.20 m.wide with an overload of 400 kg per m.2, to be joined to a narrow undergroundpassage in concrete, and inserted betweenthe pontoons connecting to land. Overall there are approximately 300 m. ofnew piers furnished with sturdy protectivesystems, moorings and handrails toseparate the pedestrian areas from thosedestined for the boat users.Naturally, all had to be finished quickly, withlow costs and without disrupting themarina's activity! The metal structure, supported by spatialshelving joined to the curb by castironwork, constitutes a natural widening ofthe existing pier adding a new aesthetictouch thanks to its weightlessness and theexotic hardwood finishings. This is an interesting solution, maintainingthe rocky quays in a port with their positiveeffects on the undertow, whilst optimisingwater space and improving the aestheticsof port structures.

A safe marina between Europe and Asia

Following a reflective pause after the Olympics,Greece is enthusiastically continuing itsprogramme of growth and development ofports and harbours which, thanks to natural, climatic and cultural resources, are a growingtourist attraction in the sailing world. The facilities at Lefkas, Gouvia, Fiscardo andAthens and the structures for the sailingevents at the Athens Olympics, wereparticularly prestigious commissions forIngemar and its Greek partner I.T.I., who willparticipate in the new enterprises atSamos, Santorini and Mitilini. At Mitilini, onthe island of Lesbos just off the Turkish coast,Ingemar has been awarded the contract tosupply floating pontoons (approx. 300 m)and fingers for the new marina to be builtwithin the commercial port andsurrounded by new protective structures. These will be of extruded sections inaluminium alloy and floating units inreinforced concrete for the pontoons androtational polyethylene for the fingers andthe mooring bollards: the walkways will beof tropical hardwoods, as with all Ingemars'standard discontinuous floating pontoons.
