FOLCLORE (Folk-lore)

A palavra folclore vem do ingls folk lore: folk quer dizer povo e lore, estudo, conhecimento. Portanto, folclore o estudo dos costumes e tradies de um povo. Esse termo foi criado pelo arquelogo ingls William John Thoms (1803 1885), pesquisador da cultura popular europia. Em 22 de agosto de 1846, ele publicou um artigo com o ttulo Folk-lore, na revista The Athenaeum, propondo a criao do termo. O termo folclore indica costumes, cerimnias, crenas, romances, arte popular, artesanato e supersties dos tempos antigos. Com isso, o dia 22 de agosto tornou-se data de referncia do surgimento do termo folclore.

Halloween um evento tradicional e cultural, que ocorre nos pases anglo-saxnicos, com especial relevncia nos Estados Unidos, Canad, Irlanda e Reino Unido, tendo como base e origem as celebraes pags dos antigos povos celtas (Irlanda).

O Halloween era um festival do calendrio celta (Irlanda), o festival de Samhain, celebrado entre 30 de outubro e 2 de novembro e marcava o fim do vero (samhain significa literalmente "fim do vero" na lngua celta).

O fim do vero era considerado como ano novo para os celtas.

Um menino negro foi pastorear os cavalos. No final do tarde, quando o menino voltou, o fazendeiro disse que faltava um cavalo baio. Pegou o chicote e deu uma surra no menino que ele ficou sangrando.
