Ingredients
1 apple
50g porridge oats
25g raspberries
25g blueberries
25g strawberries, hulled and chopped
125ml your baby’s usual milkThis colourful baby porridge can be whipped up in just ten minutes and is loaded with lovely fruit to give little ones the vitamins and nutrients they need to help them grow. The porridge will turn slightly pink as the sweet juices from the berries seep out in the oats during the cooking process. Extra fibre comes from the chopped apple, but just make sure that the pieces are small enough so that they turn soft and mushy in the pan.
Method
Chop the apple into small pieces. Peel it or leave the skin on for more fibre, but remove the core and pips.
Put in a medium nonstick saucepan with all the berries, plus 100ml milk.
Heat on low, stirring and squishing the fruit until the apple is soft.
Add the rest of the milk to help the porridge loosen and cool, then serve when it reaches room temperature.
Tip: This works with any milk, including almond, soya or formula, provided your baby has no intolerances.
