• IPD is the assessment process that every member goes through
before they become a Chartered Member
• The process ensures that all members are assessed for their
knowledge, skills and experience
• Only our Graduate members are eligible to register for IPD

Initial Professional Development
• IPD enrolment is for a maximum of two years and the current fee
is £160.00
• Members who do not complete within two years will be asked to
re-register

The 3 Stage process of completing your IPD
The IPD Process: Route 1
Degree in OSH discipline / Nebosh Diploma
• Skills Development Portfolio
• Consist of 5 elements
• Choose seven criteria from five elements
• One criterion each from elements 1, 2 and 3
• Two criteria each from elements 4 and 5

• Promoting and developing a positive safety culture in an
organisation, and its integration with other management functions.
• Choose 1 criteria from this element

Element 2
• Undertaking work-based projects to develop or implement positive
health and safety policies in an organisation
• Choose 1 criteria from this element

• Developing or implementing effective communication systems for
health and safety information
• Choose 1 criteria from this element

• Assessing the health and safety risks of an organisation
• Choose 2 criteria from this element
